Actually, in their careers Trout has a higher OPS than Joyce in every inning other than the sixth, and it's by such a slim margin and Trout is so much better in 7+ that it wouldn't make any sense to replace him. Cowgill, on the other hand, is better than Trout in 2, 6, and 7, but again, Trout dwarfs him in 8-9 so I don't think that would work either. Cowgill does have nearly double the OPS in extras that Trout does though, so I think you're right that bringing Cowgill in in extra innings makes sense.

I can't understand why the Jays weren't in on a guy like Weeks for 1 yr, 2 mil. They are entering camp with Maicer Izturis and Ryan Goins as 2B options. He'd be a huge offensive upgrade for a small commitment.

I don't understand why you get Donaldson and Martin (plus obv Bau/Edwin/Reyes) and then refuse to spend a few million here or there for a capable second baseman, some bullpen help and some outfield insurance. It would take so little to put the finishing touches on this roster (assuming you like the young arms in the rotation) but they pinch pennies. I guess I hope Devon Travis steals the job in camp...

I'm a big believer in banking cheap SB and SV if you can get them.

If he gets regular playing time, Junior Young is ++ in steals and + in runs if he bats at the top of the order. He's pretty much neutral in OBP leagues. He used to be better when he had 2B eligibility potential and half his games in Coors. Obviously you wouldn't want to bench a stud for him but a SB is a SB and it never comes off the board in roto.

Crap closers are more of a tradeoff but really only in WHIP. Their ERA downside risk is limited by the situations they're used in. Most closers except Joe Borowski are above average in K/9 and wins are a moving violation.

Are you platooning these two players? Or are they both regular starters? There's a big difference between getting those stats (any stats) out of just one guy, and getting them combined from two guys.
