2014 Oakland Raiders Regular Season Thread (1 Viewer)

I absolutely love the Derek Carr pick. The Raiders need to develop a QB for the future. With Schaub on the team the Raiders can sit Carr for a year or two and let him learn like the Packers did with Rodgers.

The best part is is that we didn't take him in the first round and we didn't have to move up from the 36th pick in the draft to land him. Well done Reggie, well done.

@RAIDERS: The Raiders have traded down in the 3rd round. Now have the 81st overall pick.” >> and pick up a fourth rounder

We picked up a 4th round for trading down. Very nice!!!

I don't know how the official pick value charts calculate that, but....

67

for

81 and 116

seems like a steal at this point for Reggie. You can't pry away a 4th rounder from teams outside of the draft, but when they want to make a move during the draft they will throw them out there.

Remember last year Miami's GM clowning that he got over on Reggie for the trade up to pick 3? I know it's not the same guy, but this feels like karma.

You know what they say about Karma, its a...

I wouldn't mind targeting:

1. Louis Nix

2. Donte Moncrief

3. Gabe Jackson

4. Kareem Martin

5. Antonio Richardson

6. Daniel McCullers

7. Anthony Johnson

8. Keith McGill

9. Pierre Desir

10 Terrance Brooks

A lot of good players left on the board. The Raiders should get a really nice player coming up.

As a Texans fan I feel for your franchise. Schaub and Carr are not the answer. I know from experience, dude.

You had 2 losing records in 7 years with Schaub. Hell four of those years you had a top 10 offense. Yes, tell us all about your suffering....

Carr is legit. You can't compare him to his brother's situation in Houston. That was a recipe for disaster. If David had gone to a decent non-expansion team his career would have been much different.

Damn I wanted Nix bad. As a Notre Dame fan I have watched enough games to really believe that there was tremendous value missed here. Hopefully Jackson is a killer of a G.

Well beyond the fact that being brothers does not mean you are the same player. I have to echo you here, it is hard to believe any rookie QB coming out of college would amount to much in the NFL after being absolutely blown up behind the horrible lines David had in Houston. It is amazing that David can still walk still and people knock him for being a bad QB. The guy must still go to a shrink three times a week just to try to get help with the PTSD he has from that experience.

Did you happen to watch Schaub at all last year? Carr isn't sitting for a year or two. More like a week or two.

I really hate to say this, but this entire draft process is much less stressful with a designated general manager 100% running the show.
We got the fastest man in the draft and you didnt. :P Dri Archer.

Seriously, I hate to burst this bubble, but I'm reading that Carr was Mark Davis' pick. If that is true and he overrode McKenzie the pick is far worse than I imagined.

I don't believe that. McKenzie has been high on Carr and I think it was his and Allen's pick. It sounds like the conspiracy theorists are out again.

Some very nice players left on the board that can come in and add some nice depth and youth to the team. Should get a couple of nice players in the 4th round. Still hoping for a trade back in the 4th round and landing a 5th or 6th round pick.

Reading what?

The only evidence on these players and the picks is their combine numbers and their game film.

Pat Kirwin on Sirius NFL radio was the first person I heard make the claim that his inside sources told him that Davis was forcing the Carr pick. This was corroborated by insiders/moderators at Raiderfans.net. I don't want to believe it either, but if true, we are effed. It was bad enough when Al was forcing picks. At least the old man had actual football knowledge.

Here is Pat Kirwin's final mock draft from Thursday right before the draft started...

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/mock-draft/expert/pat-kirwan

...he called Khalil Mack to the Texans at 1.01. Manziel to Tampa at 1.07 and Derek Carr to Cleveland at 1.26.

If you trust Pat Kirwin or any other media figurehead more than Reggie McKenzie; I don't know what to tell you. Those guys are paid to have an opinion. They can be completely in the dark, but if they don't come out and make claims they don't see their next paycheck. Raiderfans.net is the only Raider fan site I know of that constantly begs fans for money and claims to return "insider" info. I called the site owner/"BK" out on this years ago and he banned me.

There is money to be made in speculation. Believe the game film...
