2014 Oakland Raiders Regular Season Thread (2 Viewers)

A winless season is now a realistic scenario. Their best chance for a W will prolly be KC at home. Start playing as many young guys as possible and start trade vets for draft picks.

What a joke.

Sounds like a good idea, but very few trades happen during the season. But if they could find someone to take anyone for a pick then fine.

Early Sunday, less than six hours after a lopsided loss to Arizona State in Tempe, Haden fired Kiffin during a meeting at Los Angeles International Airport.

"It's never the perfect time to do these things," Haden said during an afternoon news conference on campus, "but I thought it was the right time."

Just change a few names and the airport location and let's get this show on the road. Allen is now officially Ray Handley-esque.

I hope to wake up in the morning hearing that Allen got the boot. Otherwise, it's going to be a long two weeks waiting for the next embarrassing loss.

Well at least we have a young team to........oh wait Reggie's rebuilding plan was to turn this into the oldest team in the league

So what happens if Mariota falls into our laps in the spring? Carr was the shiny new toy this summer, but we hear that every year. Remember when some people were talking about how Tyler Wilson was the steal of the draft last season, and he got waived eight seconds later. I'm just wondering what kind of future this staff projects for Carr.
Getting ahead of ourselves, but in the event Mariota falls in our lap, I'd imagine he'd have huge value on a trade down. I am ready to say DCarr is our long term answer to our QB quagmire.
How about now? Sign me up for Mariota.

Though he'll probably return for his senior season if he knows Oakland wants him.

@RaidersBeat: --> @APtcollins: My sources tell me that #Raiders head coach Dennis Allen is fired and an announcement could come as soon as Tuesday

MJD's last 4 coaches

2011 - Del Rio - fired

2012 - Mularkey - fired

2013 - Bradley - he wasn't going to be fired if they went 0-16

2014 - Allen - fired

This is embarrassing. How bad are the Patriots???
I didn't know that Peyton Manning played for the Dolphins. When did he get traded there?
This has been the status quo for years now. Any average Joe who plays the Raiders can look like Dan Marino. Same goes for RBs. They made Chris Ivory look like Walter Payton in week 1. And it looked like Arian Foster and Lamar Miller resurrected their careers playing against them. This team is just painful to watch. And a terrible football organization.

Nothing will change if they don't also get rid of Olsen, please get rid of Olsen. I'd also rather see them sign Pryor as a back up instead of putting Schaub in there.

But if you want to talk about a lackluster squad, think about the moment Carr injured his knee and had to leave the game in the second half. No timeout, no trainers out to look at him. Instead, Carr had to hop to the sidelines.

My kids always ask which team "we're" rooting for when they see me watching sports. When the Raiders are on, I try to talk them into rooting for the other team. I don't want them subjected to a life of being a Raiders fan.

Allen has to be fired right now. This team has no talent and no coaching. The disasterous results are to be expected.

I have been a Raider fan for over 30 years. There has been rough times but nothing like this. The organization is not even in the same ball park with the other professional football teams. Seems like it is running on a shoestring budget with no effort.

A few of my friends that are Raider fans have already said they are moving onto another team. Normally, I think that is the same as being a quitter but I do not blame them these days. It is the same thing every year.

Pryor is 100% garbage. Schaub is simply a waste of time. Let McGloin get in there and see if you can ship him off to another team for a late round pick. The Raiders are married to David Carr Jr. so it will be bad for quite a while. He threw 2 picks Sunday in a desperate attempt to move the ball after Miami had already pummeled them.

The signing of journeyman WR Vincent Brown and throwing him right iin the mix was typical bad GM//coaching. Sure Moore stinks and catches 1/2 the balls. Inactive is fine but give Butler a chance to work a whole game or 2. Brown has absolutely ZERO upside.

LOL! I was just thinking that this means the end for the Derek Carr love. New coach means new QB...always. Why would any player want to play for a franchise that is so inept? There is no security there as a player.

My eyes tell me Carr has a chance to be a quality NFL QB if he has some talent around him. And that is exactly what the Raiders need: more talent. They do not have the luxury of spending another high draft pick on the QB position when they have so many other needs. First and foremost is more player makers on offense.

Who would you say is a playmaker on the team right now? James Jones is the only person remotely showing the ability to make a play. Everyone else is either old or has "potential." And potential only means you haven't done it yet. They should be playing Murray over DMC and MJD, move on from D.Moore and evaluate the remaining WRs.

Like most GMs/HCs with terrible teams, they think they can compete and are afraid to 'give up' in order to build the team. That's why has been's and never were's like MJD, Schaub and Vincent Brown are on this team. In the end the results are always the same. They get fired.

This is correct. And, has been the problem for many years. The Raiders lack talent all over the field. A new and better coach would help but to really compete every Sunday, the Raiders need a lot more talent.
