Right hand fracture for d'Arnaud. :(
Bummer. First catcher I've drafted in about 7 years who actually hit worth a damn. Picked up Caleb Joseph to fill in.
the catcher the Mets called up is a top prospect and can supposedly rake.
I checked him out this morning and his numbers didn't seem all that impressive. Got him on my watch list.
Plawecki seems like kind of a grade B prospect to me. The offensive bar for catchers is set really low these days so he should be able to hit at replacement level or slightly above. I don't think there's enough power for him to be a fantasy asset.

Same impression - good contact rates, but more gap to gap power and meh walk rates. I had Plawecki on a devy squad until last year when all of a sudden half of my league became interested in him because some popular sites started talking him up. His profile strikes me as more of a good #2 catcher, eventually, maybe, so I shipped him off.

I wouldn't bother with him right now unless desperate. See where they slot him in the batting order and, obviously, how he does.

he's gonna be great.

Yep, that's the general consensus. He rarely strikes out but he also doesn't have much power.

Bryan Price channels his inner Lee Elia.

Bryan Price is dealing with some early adversity this year with the Cincinnati Reds. The Redlegs are 1-7 in their last 8 games after starting 4-0 in the NL Central. And while there’s still an eternity of time left in the season, Price’s frustration boiled over in a conversation with the local media on Monday in Milwaukee.

Correction: Price’s frustration didn’t just boil over. It exploded like Mount Vesuvius.

C. Trent Rosecrans of the Cincinnati Enquirer documented the entire rant, which centered around the reporting of an injury to All-Star catcher Devin Mesoraco. Price was apparently furious with the media, and the Enquirer in particular, for reporting on Mesoraco’s lack of availability for Sunday’s game in St. Louis. While that seems innocuous enough, apparently Price is a disciple of the Bill Belichick school when it comes to dealing with the media and then some.

Here’s some of more of the highlights in print. (God bless Rosecrans for documenting this Hall-of-Fame worthy transcript and all the credit in the world to him for keeping his cool while Price was ranting like a lunatic.) This is truly a rant for the ages…

“So every f****** opponent we have has to know exactly what we have. Which f****** relievers are available, which guys are here and which guys aren’t here, when they can play, and what they can do. It’s nobody’s f****** business. It’s certainly not the opponent’s business. We have to deal with this f****** b*******.”

“I like to talk — and I have spoken as candidly as I can with you people, if that’s not good enough, I won’t say a f******thing. I’ll go, ‘yes sir, no sir.’ And I can do that. But f***, I’ve been as candid as I can f****** be about this team and our players, and we’ve got to deal with this s***, every f****** team that we f****** play has to know every f****** guy that’s here and what they can and can’t do? F*** me. It’s a f****** disgrace. I’m f****** sick of this s***. It’s f****** hard enough to f****** win here to have f****** every f****** opponent know exactly what the f*** we bring to the table every day. It’s f****** horse****. I don’t like it. It’s what I’m saying.”

“Your job is not to sniff out every f****** thing is about the Reds and f****** put it out there for every other f****** guy to hear. It’s not your job. You want me to be candid with you? I’ve been candid with you. I f****** talk to you guys like men, I tell you what the f***’s going on with the team, I tell you how I’m feeling as candidly as I can and then this s***? You’ve got to watch this f****** s***?”

“So, I’m f******, to be honest with you, I’m f****** sick of this s***. I’m sick of listening to this f****** s***, I’m sick of f****** the f****** second-guessing b*******, you guys can do whatever the f*** you want, but I’ll tell you this — I’m not going to f****** tell you everything about this f****** club, because you f****** guys are going to out there and sniff it out anyway. I don’t f****** like it one f****** bit. I bend over backwards to be honest and direct with you f****** guys and you stick it right up my f****** a** — and the f****** team’s a**. And I’m sick of it. What do you got? If you don’t got anything, get out and I’ll do this f****** interview with Marty. You don’t have anything? Just get out, please.”

Top Cubs shortstop prospect Addison Russell is being called up to the majors, sources told CBSSports.com.

Russell will join top slugging prospect Kris Bryant, who was called up only Friday and is already making an impact with three RBI Monday night against Pittsburgh.

Russell, who will be one of the youngest players in the majors at 21, will add to the stir on the North Side, where the talented young team has begun 7-5. Cubs manager Joe Maddon said the club is playing with "verve" after beating the Pirates on Monday.

Russell is batting .314 with one home run and seven RBI at Triple-A Iowa, and had a very nice spring training following his excellent 2014 season. He came to the Cubs from Oakland in the big July trade for Jeff Samardzija and Jason Hammel, who is back with the Cubs. Russell hit .295 with 13 home runs, mostly at Double-A last year.

Russell can play second base as well as shortstop, so second could be a spot for him in the short term. The Cubs have struggled at second, with Arismendy Alcantara batting .077 and Jonathan Herrera .192 so far. Tommy LaStella is on the disabled list, and another big prospect, Javier Baez, is in the minors. The Cubs have All-Star Starlin Castro at shortstop.

The Cubs very likely have baseball's best stockpile of positional prospects. Outfielder Jorge Soler is up with the big club and has been since late last year. Combine the players already up wiuth Kyle Schwarber, Albert Almora and many others in the minors, and that should guarantee the Cubs a superb everyday lineup in the near future, and quite possibly for years to come.

77 f-bombs if you're keeping score at home

Here's something I had heard a little about but didn't really know the extent of until now. MLB runs the country's leading broadband network for streaming video. They do the Watch ESPN stuff. The do March Madness. They're doing the standalone HBO streaming service.

Helps explain why the owners have so much money to throw around these days even beyond the RSN deals and the strong ticket sales. They basically stumbled bassackwards into sharing a $5 billion asset.

Why even have replays if they can't get the call right (Cubs/Pirates)
I think they got the call right. I agree with Jim Deshaies. Bryant should have just slid in hard. By trying to hook the back side of home plate, he cost himself that split second that was the difference between being safe and being out.

Twice this season Orioles pitchers have thrown deliberately at Bautista.

Twice he's homered in the same at bat.

Get a clue.
Maybe my favorite hitter in the game to watch.
A few post game quotes from him about the whiny ##### Orioles (who lost their minds last year when Stroman threw at one of their players, yet hit Goins right afted Edwin went 5th deck, then later threw behind Bautista for the 2nd time in 10 days).

"I think it’s all pretty well planned out & premeditated & I think they hide behind the way their manager acts and conducts himself"

"For a team that …whines so much when their guys get pitched inside, they should manage their pitching a little bit better."

"You throw at me, I’m not going to forget and if I get you right after I’m going to enjoy it."

"I could care less what Adam Jones is saying."

Bautista says Jones chirped first on field: "He said, ‘That’s bush league.’ And I said, ‘What’s bush league is you throwing behind my head’"

Bautista recalls #Orioles' anger after Stroman/Joseph:"Now that’s their defence because this kid’s a rookie? I don’t buy it. "It wasn’t OK for them even though Stroman was a rookie last yr." ”

Nolan Arenado is one of those guys who fantasy players associate with unlimited hitting potential, but he's easily the best fielding 3Bman in the game. I mean he's just spectacular over there, highlight reel almost every night.

Chris Carter hit a homer, someone get the float ready for the parade.

Also is there anyone watching the Rangers/DBags besides the people at the game? Not even sure they are watching.

All off-season I was a big believer in Uribe having to lose his job. 4 WAR last two season earned him that right.

We're getting there. You can't keep Guerrero on the bench.

Yeah the time is coming. If nothing else the Doyers have a guy they can easily deal for whatever they want.

Guerrero has that silly contract that allows him to become a free agent after the season if traded and prevents him from being optioned to the minors.

I'm watching the Yankeeography on Reggie Jackson, and of course they showed the infamous blowup with Billy Martin.

Paul Blair says they all felt it was a routine fly ball. Now I'm not gonna sit here and tell you that Reggie busted his ass on every play, but Billy Hamilton on a dead sprint does not catch that ball. I always felt he got a raw deal there.
it was a bloop hit but Reggie had the play in front of him & allowed Rice to reach 2nd. Not too many guys let Rice get 2 on that

Herrara

Revere

Asche

Frenchy

Ruf

Ceasar Hernandez

Rupp

Blanco

McGowan

This may be the worst lineup Ive ever seen. :yucky: Marlins gotta be easy money tonight.
