**2015 MLB Season Thread: This is how the chapter ends (2 Viewers)

There have been at least a dozen incorrect calls at home plate that I've seen. I have no idea what their definition of conclusive is, but it needs to change in the offseason. Home plate calls are the most important and it seems to me it is the call the replay is getting wrong the most.

Miggy to the DL.
is this the first time hes been on the DL?
Yes.
Just heard on local radio that Cabrera is out 6 weeks.EDIT TO ADD: They just now said "up to" 6 weeks with a grade 3 calf strain.
That basically ends the fantasy season for him and Springer. 6 weeks puts them back at the start of the playoffs but who knows how long before they get back into form.

It is 6 weeks max. And your playoffs start in mid August?

That motion of Carter Capps is terribly distracting and doesn't seem legal: http://www.businessinsider.com/carper-capps-pitching-motion-2015-4
It isn't legal and I'm surprised that someone hasn't complained and the umpires call a balk on every one of his pitches.
I'd love to see his motion legislated out of the game, but MLB has clearly come down in his favor.
Doesn't Jordan Walden do basically the same thing?

Yeah. And it's been pointed out that pretty much no pitcher in baseball stays on the rubber as they release the ball.

They are talking early September for Miggy, it's really six weeks minimum.

Cano the current worst contract in MLB?
depends on how you are defining it, but Verlander is probably close. Owed $140 for this year through 2019. I would guess that there is a better chance that Cano re-gains some semblance of his form.
In the first two years of his deal JV returned a 4.8 and a 2.8 WAR. Ryan Howard is a cumulitive -2.1 in his 4th year of a $125 mm contract. So one more decent JV year and nothing woukd still end up being a better deal than Howard. So that has to be the worst current contract in baseball, at least JV and Cano have a chance to recover.
Matt Cain's contract doesn't look too great either. Giants still owe him at least $60mm through 2017 and that's with a $7.5mm buyout for '18.

On JV I find it weird that people are so quick to forgive Cano all of a sudden because he has acid reflux. JV had core surgery before 2014 and is just returning this year from arm issues. Seems like recovering from core surgery might be a little tougher than getting over acid reflux, but I'm no doctor...
