2015 NBA Thread: I felt a great disturbance in the trolls, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. (3 Viewers)

The blocking call on Jefferson is exactly why reffing in the NBA blows.  How do you even whistle that?  I don't care if the call was on GS.  Pathetic.

Serious question- why is home court so much bigger in the NBA playoffs than it is any other sport?
My opinion - you have the same crowd, energy at home in all sports. The difference in being at home in basketball is comfort shooting the ball at home. There is something different about playing and specifically shooting at home. Comfortable spots on the floor you've worked on. General confidence having done it there so many times before. Shooting at home >>> shooting on the road.

I'm guessing there may be stats to prove or disprove this. But that's my guess.

Funny you should mention it, but the main guy that's been funding my playoff run tapped out after the last game. The only other highlight from this beatdown is the ration of #### I've been texting him.
I really encourage you to learn the market.  You can start sniffing out the fishy lines.

I originally told bananafish I thought GS wins in 6 or 7.  Cleveland has been so good at home this postseason.  GS was terrible at everything tonight.  I think a good portion of that was their own fault, but a lot of credit goes to Cleveland for playing a much better game tonight too.

Game 4 will be interesting to see how much of tonight's loss was Golden State's fault and how much of it was Cleveland's improvement.  Funny that Cleveland is better without Love when he was a big reason why people thought they could win last year.  I know Kerr hasn't been great in playoff game 3s but a few of those were without Curry (although they may as well been without him).

Very happy to still have home court advantage still.

I'm convinced it's the nature of the scoring.  No other sport has the volume of scoring plays that the NBA has.  Every scoring success by the home team is magnified by the home crowd as is every scoring failure by the visiting team.  And the failures by the home team and successes by the visiting team are met with relative silence.

I think the home teams in all sports can feed off their crowd and I also think the visiting teams can let the crowd get into their heads.  But it's not as noticeable in other sports because the scoring plays are fewer.  In basketball, the score can run away quickly if the crowd is having an effect.

Kerr switched baskets game 6 vs. Oklahoma City:

"You make the decision based on whether you want your offense or defense in front of you in the second half," Kerr said.  "So we just decided with noise, we'd rather have our offense in front of us.  We're making more calls on offense from the sideline than we are on the defensive end."

Similar to the ease of a QB calling plays at home vs. on the road.
