Case Keenum but Marvin Jones is a solid guess too.Donny Loved Bowling said:Wonder who the most commonly owned player is... I'm thinking Marvin Jones. Anyone else care to speculate?
Perfect in August is easy, perfect in November is harder.I hate to break it to you guys but I have the perfect roster. I'll post once the contest closes. Sorry in advance (for winning the contest).
That's crazy that we managed to pick the same roster.I hate to break it to you guys but I have the perfect roster. I'll post once the contest closes. Sorry in advance (for winning the contest).
The request is made every year and the answer is always "no." It's actually nice that they don't--it helps weed out those who aren't "serious" about digging into the contest.Any chance to put the BYE weeks on the pick page in parentheses before you hit submit? I know they show up after you submit. Just something to ponder on, not a major issue obviously. Thanks again!
I am going to say Jesse James.Donny Loved Bowling said:Wonder who the most commonly owned player is... I'm thinking Marvin Jones. Anyone else care to speculate?
That is a good guess and there are a lot of good candidates under 10 dollars. I tried to go a little off the board with my guessI'd guess James White
I am going to say Jesse James.
Casey seems like a waste of $2, I'd rather take a 3rd kicker or d.Case Keenum but Marvin Jones is a solid guess too.
I'd swap out one of the $20 QBs for 8 KsI spent $150 on QB. Do you guys think that's a good strategy? I figure locking in 40 points every week at a key position is critical in winning this over 16 weeks.
That's solid. Lock in another 15-20 from having a top 3 PK every weekI'd swap out one of the $20 QBs for 8 Ks
No reason Keenum keeps you from a 3rd kicker or D. I'm in the camp that any starting QB has to be worth >$2 but I'd be happy to be wrong about ownership.FUBAR said:Casey seems like a waste of $2, I'd rather take a 3rd kicker or d.
JJ might be the most owned but I'm betting on folk.
I get the logic but will he start all year?No reason Keenum keeps you from a 3rd kicker or D. I'm in the camp that any starting QB has to be worth >$2 but I'd be happy to be wrong about ownership.
is this a player who ever it may be to avoid or covet?Wonder who the most commonly owned player is... I'm thinking Marvin Jones. Anyone else care to speculate?
It depends. Usually, you want to have some uniqueness to your team to succeed if you reach the finals. But, sometimes you need the crowd favorite, too. In Arian Foster's first year he was listed for something like $2 and then won the starting job in training camp. He ended up on like 2/3 of all teams, and when he had a great year, you were dead in the water if you didn't have him, becasue there were thousands of teams ahead of you every week just from his score. By week 12 he was on about 95% of the teams left,. The teams that were "unique" because they didn't have him never got to the finals to use that quality.is this a player who ever it may be to avoid or covet?
I think it's worth paying up for QBs, where you're likely getting a consistently higher floor and a higher ceiling, but not for K and D, where quantity trumps quality. But I've been playing this contest for about a decade and don't think I've ever cashed, so take it with a grain of salt.QBs, PKs and DST. I always struggle between plentiful low-cost picks for a consistent floor, or fewer high-cost ones for higher ceilings.
I've always gone cheap on Ks and Ds, too, and actually made it to #13 one year. However, when I looked at last year's finals, only 2 of the top 30 finishers used that strategy. The rest spent a few bucks extra on their Ds (either with one high-end D or several mid-range Ds). That's enough to have me rethinking my strategy.I think it's worth paying up for QBs, where you're likely getting a consistently higher floor and a higher ceiling, but not for K and D, where quantity trumps quality. I've always been a proponent of 3 or 4 of the cheapest K's and D's. This year I decided to spend for one higher priced D, that I think has the potential to become of the top D's in the league and two of the $2 defenses.I think it's worth paying up for QBs, where you're likely getting a consistently higher floor and a higher ceiling, but not for K and D, where quantity trumps quality. I understand the appeal, but he'd have to be an afterthought for me, like if I wind up with $2 extra. And that never happens, I'm usually left with just $1 trying to find a place for it and I upgrade somewhere else instead. I'm just betting that Keenum probably won't start the whole year.No reason Keenum keeps you from a 3rd kicker or D. I'm actually in that spot right now, with $2 extra and I am happy with my roster as is. I could spend it on a 5th kicker, 4th defense, or Keenum. I have two QBs in the $10-15 range, and I doubt Keenum would ever score over them, but at the same time I doubt adding a defense like the Saints will do much for my team either. There is also one $2 RB and one $2 WR I like but they may be even bigger long shots to contribute.I understand the appeal, but he'd have to be an afterthought for me, like if I wind up with $2 extra. Iggy,Thanks again for this it's a great tool and makes this even more enjoyable than it already is.Even though I am about as low tech as you can get I know that this must have took a lot of time an effort.I donated again this year and encourage every one to use this tool and throw a little something your way.I entered the first team of the what seems like thousands of teams I picked.I wanted to see if the old saying study long study wrong is correct.Again thanks its much appreciated.Another little announcement: If you like to drive yourself nuts, I just added a new feature to my FBG contest site. You can now create an alternate "What If?" roster and save it to your profile so you can track its performance over the course of the season. Check it out here (you'll need to have a profile and be logged in, so do that if necessary): http://o.ffense.com/fbg35k/whatif.php
A few notes:
Feedback, questions, complaints etc. are all welcome here or via the Contact link on site.
- I just put this together this afternoon so there could very well be something wrong with it - please let me know if you find bugs!
- The scores for these most likely won't update in realtime, it will just be a kind of weekly update after each NFL weekend is done. I don't really want to mess too much with the existing live scoring process because it's poorly written and poorly documented so I'm apt to screw something up. EDIT: I lied, I think live scoring will work for these.
- You can only create one alternate entry. I imagine some of you might want more than that, but it's not in the cards for now. I'm really hoping at some point I'll have some downtime to basically rebuild the entire site, at which point I'll try to add more features.
- Just like on the real FBG site, every time you submit an alternate roster, it overwrites any previous rosters you've saved. There is no warning, no "undo," no nothing. It's just gone - so be sure that's what you want to do.
- Unlike the FBG site, it doesn't check to see if the roster is vaild. So if you just check a single player and click Submit, it'll accept it. Similarly if you check every player and click Submit, it will give you a 389 player roster. Please don't do this! If you just want a complete list of all the players and their weekly scores, that already exists, don't use this page for that purpose. This is just meant to be a place for us to save and follow the progress of a second hypothetical contest entry. If you find yourself wanting to use this page for some other purpose, just let me know and I'll try to build a tool to do whatever you're trying to do.

http://subscribers.footballguys.com/contest/2015/week-16.php4 QBs: $42
8 RBs: $87
8 WRs: $72
4 TEs: $29
3 Ks: $9
2 DEF: $10
1 spot and $1 leftover.
This could very well be a flop and be eliminated first round, but it's worth a shot I suppose.
Where can I see where I finished last year?

although I'm at 27. One of my favorite sleepers this year, although he won't be rostered in small leagues is a $2 receiver. I'm taking him everywhere except the one 12 team league I'm in this year.Raback said:I'm actually in that spot right now, with $2 extra and I am happy with my roster as is. why would anyone take charles at his price?Q: aside from the injured or cut, what players will be the least rostered?
Hopefully I am done putzing with this this (yeah, right). Didn't like the cheap options I had at RB, so I condensed them into a mid level guy and tweaked my WRs too. Now it's:Of course I just HAD To restart after seeing a little preseason, and I had guys like Bridgewater in there. Just a mess, but I started to find lower $ guys I liked at positions which was good. Throwing a bunch into the WRs...
QB - 3 for $37
RB - 7 for $64
WR - 8 for $101
TE - 4 for $30
PK - 3 for $8
DT - 4 for $10
29 players, and right at the $250 max. Every position has all different bye weeks except Rbs, and they have 6 different bye weeks out of the 7 guys.
Possibly to be the one team that has him when he goes big.why would anyone take charles at his price?
Sure, but there's still a fair chance another team cuts theirs and signs a fa, into the season. Can't really help that except to take good kickers. One thing about taking several cheap kickers is that you definitely have to check your guysafter the 53-man deadline.
