Welp it's past the time - I'm sure it'll get locked up at some indeterminate time but I'm gonna stick with what I ended up with at the end of last night.

I did NOT get a chance to do the analysis I like where I'm looking for marginal value.  That said I fear that my team is going to be incredibly incredibly common this time around.  But we shall see.

Will post after the lock out happens.  Maybe I can come in 249th this year.

QB - Tom Brady - NE/9 - $15QB - Matthew Stafford - DET/10 - $12RB - Jeremy Hill - CIN/9 - $15RB - LeGarrette Blount - NE/9 - $10RB - Spencer Ware - KC/5 - $8RB - Derrick Henry - TEN/13 - $7RB - Shaun Draughn - SF/8 - $6RB - Devontae Booker - DEN/11 - $6RB - DeAndre Washington - OAK/10 - $6RB - Christine Michael - SEA/5 - $4RB - Alfred Morris - DAL/7 - $3WR - Antonio Brown - PIT/8 - $35WR - Keenan Allen - SD/11 - $23WR - Brandon Marshall - NYJ/11 - $22WR - Amari Cooper - OAK/10 - $21WR - Marvin Jones - DET/10 - $12TE - Antonio Gates - SD/11 - $11TE - Martellus Bennett - NE/9 - $9TE - Vance McDonald - SF/8 - $6TE - Virgil Green - DEN/11 - $4TE - Jesse James - PIT/8 - $2PK - Matt Prater - DET/10 - $3PK - Jason Myers - JAX/5 - $3PK - Roberto Aguayo - TB/6 - $3TD - San Diego Chargers - SD/11 - $2TD - Cleveland Browns - CLE/13 - $2

Tinkered with this thing like crazy tonight, probably to my detriment.

QB - Tom Brady - NE/9 - $15QB - Matthew Stafford - DET/10 - $12QB - Carson Wentz - PHI/4 - $6

Love the discount price on Brady, and I think Stafford easily outperforms his price.  Wentz is basically Week 10 insurance with Stafford on a bye and Brady playing Seattle.  I thought about RG3 here but I don't trust he gets through the season in one piece (speaking of which, please stay healthy Stafford!)

RB - David Johnson - ARI/9 - $30RB - Spencer Ware - KC/5 - $8RB - Derrick Henry - TEN/13 - $7RB - Devontae Booker - DEN/11 - $6RB - DeAndre Washington - OAK/10 - $6RB - Christine Michael - SEA/5 - $4RB - Alfred Morris - DAL/7 - $3

Usually go two stud RBs but I've been burned by that in the past, so now I'm attacking with volume.  Throw a bunch of RB2 mud at the wall and see what sticks.  Hopefully one of the six guys emerges each week to put up a passable score.  Ware and Michael look like good candidates early on.  Couldn't find the extra $2 to get Kenneth Dixon on, hopefully that doesn't cost me.

WR - Keenan Allen - SD/11 - $23WR - Brandin Cooks - NO/5 - $22WR - Julian Edelman - NE/9 - $19WR - Josh Gordon - CLE/13 - $13WR - Marvin Jones - DET/10 - $12WR - Stefon Diggs - MIN/6 - $11

I expect all of these WRs to be very highly owned.  Focusing on PPR-friendly guys for the top 3 and obvious bargains for the second three.  Tinkered with adding a WR7 but couldn't make the math work.  Had ARob and Moncrief in there until tonight.  This contest messes with your mind.

TE - Jordan Reed - WAS/9 - $22TE - Jason Witten - DAL/7 - $11TE - Virgil Green - DEN/11 - $4TE - Jesse James - PIT/8 - $2

Wanted at least one top flight TE, I think Dak leans on Witten throughout the year.  I expect Green and James to be very widely owned at those prices.

PK - Matt Prater - DET/10 - $3PK - Roberto Aguayo - TB/6 - $3

Had as many as four PKs at one point but wanted to upgrade other positions.  Haven't done two PKs in awhile.  I hope Aguayo has overcome the yips.

TD - Pittsburgh Steelers - PIT/8 - $5TD - Atlanta Falcons - ATL/11 - $3

Usually go three cheap defenses, but I decided to switch it up to a mid-ranger this time.

Good luck everyone!

Total value: 250

BASICALLY, I JUST WANTED TO GET A LOT INTO THE WRS THIS YEAR.

QBS - AS I AND A LOT OF PEOPLE SEEM TO THINK, BRADY WAS A GREAT PRICE AND THOUGHT STAFFORD WAS UNDERVALUED.  THROUGH IN FLACCO WHO HAS A JUICY SOS AND WILL PROBABLY HAVE TO THROW A TON.

RBS - TRIED TO GET SOME PPR GUYS AT THE $15 RANGE AND SOME UPSIDE BACKUPS.

WRS - REALLY WANTED A COUPLE STUDS, COUPLE MID TIER GUYS THAT I THOUGHT COULD PUSH WR1 #S, AND SOME FLIER GUYS.

TES- JUST TRIED TO KEEP IT ON THE CHEAP HERE.  THINK ALLEN/BENNETT IS A GOOD COMBO AND THE OTHER TWO ARE POPULAR LOW PRICE GUYS.

K/TD - HONESTLY DON'T PUT A TON OF THOUGHT INTO THIS, JUST TRY TO KEEP THESE POSITIONS UNDER $20 COMBINED.

**AS I USUALLY GET OBSESSED WITH DOING, ALL THE PLAYERS HAVE DIFFERENT BYE WEEKS FOR ALL THE DIFFERENT POSITIONS.  IT'S PROBABLY ONE OF THE MANY THINGS THAT HURT ME, BUT IF I HAVE 8 WRS, DAMMIT I HAVE TO HAVE 8 DIFFERENT BYE WEEKS TO MAXIMIZE HOW MANY ARE STARTING EACH WEEK.**

QB    Aaron Rodgers(GB)    $27
QB    Matthew Stafford(DET)    $12

Rodgers is primed for a comeback season and nobody is talking about him.  I like the under-the-radar feel in this contest as a potential difference maker should I make it to the finals.  Plus, I liked the early bye week.

Stafford - like his schedule and the up-tempo offense they are supposed to run this year
---
RB    Charles Sims(TB)    $12
RB    Spencer Ware(KC)    $8
RB    Kenneth Dixon(BAL)    $8
RB    Derrick Henry(TEN)    $7
RB    Devontae Booker(DEN)    $6
RB    James White(NE)    $5
RB    Alfred Morris(DAL)    $3

Sims as the highest salary RB is crazy.  Sims, Ware and White need to carry the team early and then Dixon, Henry, and Booker need to step up later in the year.  Morris seems like a no-brainer at $3 because he would be an easy RB1 if Zeke gets hurt (please don't get hurt Zeke, I have you in year long leagues :-)).
----
WR    A.J. Green(CIN)    $30
WR    Jordy Nelson(GB)    $29
WR    Keenan Allen(SD)    $23
WR    Marvin Jones(DET)    $12
WR    Rishard Matthews(TEN)    $6
WR    Eli Rogers(PIT)    $4

Went stud heavy here - I don't think I have ever had only 6 WR in this contest but is seems right this year.
Green - who else is going to catch passes?
Nelson - paired with Rodgers - also likely to be lower owned based on the lack of chatter - so might be good at the end of the year should I make it that far.
Allen - was on pace for a huge number of catches last year before his fluke injury, expect that to continue this year
Mathews - Veteran WR on a team with lame other WR option (T. Sharpe  not withstanding)
Rodgers - Looks to be the slot WR this year in a high powered offense and at $4 that was good enough for me

----
TE    Travis Kelce(KC)    $20
TE    Zach Miller(CHI)    $8
TE    Virgil Green(DEN)    $4
TE    Jesse James(PIT)    $2

James and Green are easy selections at their prices.  Had all the usual suspects here in various iterations (Bennett, Walford, McDonald) but decided to go in a different direction to provide variety late in the year.
Kelce - needed/wanted one stud TE - early bye swayed me here over Reed (very scientific)
Miller - scheduled to get the "M. Bennett" role - could be big if he stays healthy

---
PK    Dan Bailey(DAL)    $6
PK    Cairo Santos(KC)    $5
PK    Nick Folk(NYJ)    $2
---
TD    Green Bay Packers(GB)    $6
TD    Detroit Lions(DET)    $3
TD    Tennessee Titans(TEN)    $2

More cash than I usually tie up here but wanted to have some early bye weeks (Santos and GB D) and wanted to have all six of these positions to have different bye week.

I most likely have too many late round bye weeks and my roster is on the smaller side, but I think I put together a team that has a fighting chance if the ball bounces right.  This was how I talked myself into my selections.

QB:

Wilson picks up where he left off at the end of last year.  Winston improves on his rookie year.  Both will run the ball for some extra points.  With the early byes, I felt like I could get away with only rostering two QBs, but it is always risky.

QB - Russell Wilson - SEA/5 - $22QB - Jameis Winston - TB/6 - $14

Just missed the cut: Brady

RB:

Langford was the mainstay on my roster the whole way through this process.  He will be a 3 down back and outscore his price.  I should be able to survive the 3 week Bell suspension with this roster.  When he comes back, he will be the top scoring RB on a per game basis.  Gordon wins the most improved award for his sophomore campaign. McKinnon is the father time lottery ticket....if it hits, it will be huge.  If not, he should put a nice floor of about 7 points per week.  Henry will be a second half of the season stud.  He will slowly take over the lead roll as the season progresses.  Michael and Morris will both probably be on the wrong side of RBBC, but could be big if the starter goes down.  I probably didn't need to roster both these guys, but I couldn't leave them off my team for the price....and I couldn't find a WR that I thought could be a contributor to the flex position for the same price.

 RB - LeVeon Bell - PIT/8 - $27RB - Jeremy Langford - CHI/9 - $17RB - Melvin Gordon - SD/11 - $14RB - Jerick McKinnon - MIN/6 - $8RB - Derrick Henry - TEN/13 - $7RB - Christine Michael - SEA/5 - $4RB - Alfred Morris - DAL/7 - $3

Just missed the cut: Elliot, Ware, Crowell, Foster

WR:

If I will have any regrets, it will most likely be here.  I probably should have tried a little harder to roster at least one more WR.  Evans has a monster year...he shows why he is a top 3 dynasty WR with this season.  I gambled with Cobb and Watkins.  Both have question marks, but have a realistic shot at a top 15 finish at their position.  Both should be unique and if they hit, it will be a bonus for my team.  Gordon is the one player that I probably should have cut, but I couldn't get the 2013 vision of him out of my head.  The biggest reason I probably should have cut him is his week 13 bye week.  Boyd is a rookie, but I liked what I saw in the pre-season.  I went back and forth between him and Fuller in Houston, but I felt like Cincy would give Boyd a few more opportunities to produce some big games.

WR - Mike Evans - TB/6 - $24WR - Randall Cobb - GB/4 - $22WR - Sammy Watkins - BUF/10 - $21WR - Josh Gordon - CLE/13 - $13WR - Tyler Boyd - CIN/9 - $6

Just missed the cut: Antonio Brown (I really really wanted him, but couldn't make it work), Marshall, Landry, Floyd, M. Jones, Fuller, and Hogan (Boyd, Fuller, and Hogan all had week 9 bye weeks...I would have kept two of them if they were different weeks)

TE:

Green and James were on my team the longest.  They will probably be two of the highest % owned.  Barnidge and Allen will both be solid.  I made the mistake of putting all my eggs in the Gronk basket last year and I crashed and burned.  Believe it or not, the great Gronk does occasionally have a bad day....or gets knicked up and doesn't play.  These four will keep the survivor train chugging along.  Nothing special, but they will put in a good honest day's work.

TE - Gary Barnidge - CLE/13 - $12TE - Dwayne Allen - IND/10 - $11TE - Virgil Green - DEN/11 - $4TE - Jesse James - PIT/8 - $2

Just missed the cut: Gronk, Fleener, McDonald, Hunter Henry

PK:

Three cheap kickers.  Washington should have an above average offense and I can see them in a lot of high scoring games.  The kicks will follow.  Prater kicks in a dome, on an ok offensive team, and again was cheap.  Succop....well, his name makes me laugh and he costs $2.

PK - Matt Prater - DET/10 - $3PK - Dustin Hopkins - WAS/9 - $3PK - Ryan Succop - TEN/13 - $2

Just missed the cut: every kicker in the 2-3 dollar price range not on my team

DEF:

The Chiefs were always on my team.  I like their defensive style and I'm looking for a lot of turnovers from this squad.  The early bye week was a bonus.  The Steelers are also an aggressive defensive unit that produces turnovers.  Probably would have been better off spreading this money over 3 or 4 teams.

TD - Kansas City Chiefs - KC/5 - $6TD - Pittsburgh Steelers - PIT/8 - $5

Just missed the cut: all of the $2 and $3 dollar teams and the Vikings, Texans

Good luck everyone....Here's to avoiding the Turk!

Every year, I usually have between 25-30 players on my team in this contest....Not this year. It's all studs all day baby. Boom or Bust! Here we go.....

 • QB - Andrew Luck - IND/10 - $23
 • QB - Brock Osweiler - HOU/9 - $8
Initially had 4 QB's (Mariota, Carr, Stafford, Osweiler)  Used Luck because NOBODY is talking about him & he has top 3 potential

 • RB - Todd Gurley - LA/8 - $32
 • RB - David Johnson - ARI/9 - $30
 • RB - Spencer Ware - KC/5 - $8
 • RB - Derrick Henry - TEN/13 - $7
 • RB - Alfred Morris - DAL/7 - $3
5 RB's?!?! Sure, but look at 'em! Ain't they pretty.....Also, bye week friendly.

 • WR - Antonio Brown - PIT/8 - $35
 • WR - Willie Snead - NO/5 - $14
 • WR - Josh Gordon - CLE/13 - $13
 • WR - Michael Thomas - NO/5 - $9
 • WR - Andre Johnson - TEN/13 - $3
 • WR - Davante Adams - GB/4 - $3
I nabbed the unquestioned WR STUD & yes he costs dearly. Didn't really see anyone using him. Adams last year highly touted, this year? $3.... Let me know if you've seen this movie before.

Gordon? Returns week 5 when I have 2 WR's on bye. Hmmmm......Snead little pricey, was hoping for $10-$11 at most. Andre Johnson, let's see if he has anything left for $3

 • TE - Rob Gronkowski - NE/9 - $30
 • TE - Charles Clay - BUF/10 - $9
 • TE - Jared Cook - GB/4 - $8
Gronk = 20TD this year. I think all 3 of these TE's have very high ceiling & at 1.5 PPR & 2 Flex, I like it.

 • PK - Phil Dawson - SF/8 - $3
 • PK - Ryan Succop - TEN/13 - $2
Initially had D Hopkins at K. Took him out so I wouldn't have K & DEF on same bye

 • TD - Green Bay Packers - GB/4 - $6
 • TD - Washington Redskins - WAS/9 - $4
Packer defense may lead league in INT's this year

So yes, I have Luck, Gurley, D. Johnson. A. Brown & Gronk on my team. A wet dream of fantasy players you could never get in a re-draft.

Don't know what will happen but if I make it past weeks 8-9-10 & stay healthy.....Lookout.

Either way, it'll be fun as usual.

Am I the only one going graham top 3 TE by week 9?

Evans top reciever this year!

osweiller top 5QB

gronk and Bennett miss big chunks of time!

thats all I got for predictions 8 years of this and finish 9-11w every time. (Almost every year I have 25-40 dead money from injury).

Can't wait to see ownership stats.

QB - Tom Brady - NE/9 - $15QB - Marcus Mariota - TEN/13 - $13QB - Matthew Stafford - DET/10 - $12

No duplicate bye weeks.

RB - LeVeon Bell - PIT/8 - $27RB - Jeremy Langford - CHI/9 - $17RB - Ameer Abdullah - DET/10 - $13RB - Arian Foster - MIA/8 - $12RB - Devontae Booker - DEN/11 - $6RB - DeAndre Washington - OAK/10 - $6RB - Alfred Morris - DAL/7 - $3

Hoping I can get by until suspension is over. Morris is lottery pick, if Elliott's hammy acts up. WR - Brandin Cooks - NO/5 - $22WR - Amari Cooper - OAK/10 - $21WR - Josh Gordon - CLE/13 - $13WR - Sterling Shepard - NYG/8 - $11WR - Will Fuller - HOU/9 - $6WR - Devin Funchess - CAR/7 - $6WR - Kenny Stills - MIA/8 - $4

Again hoping to squeeze until suspension is lifted. TE - Jason Witten - DAL/7 - $11TE - Zach Miller - CHI/9 - $8TE - Jared Cook - GB/4 - $8TE - Jesse James - PIT/8 - $2

PK - Sebastian Janikowski - OAK/10 - $3PK - Ryan Succop - TEN/13 - $2PK - Nick Folk - NYJ/11 - $2

TD - San Francisco 49ers - SF/8 - $3TD - San Diego Chargers - SD/11 - $2TD - Tennessee Titans - TEN/13 - $2

No duplicate bye weeks for TE, Defense or Kicker. That and injuries hurt me last year.

My writeup from last year basically covers my strategy. The biggest change this year is that I put more emphasis on the wk14-16 playoffs, including Brady, Bell, J Gordon, and Graham. Graham was the biggest reach for playoff upside - I'm expecting him to have low ownership numbers and he has a shot at putting up a lot of playoff points if he is healthy by then.

My roster this year has a similar shape to last year's, with 30 players (vs. last year's 29), a few studs at RB & WR, and lots of cheap options at WR, TE, PK, and Def in keeping with the "throw numbers at it" best ball strategy. I was hoping to take a 5th defense this year, to take further advantage of the fact that every defense has the same weekly ceiling (plus this year's lower Def prices), but ran into the 30 player cap. Used up 8 slots and $18 on PK+Def.

I considered the strategy of getting more cheap handcuff/lottery ticket RBs (C Michael, A Morris, R Turbin, etc.) because of the chance that they'll be playoff starters. I decided that they mostly weren't worth the price (especially with roster slots at a premium and with many other people following that strategy) so I ended up only getting 2 cheapish RBs who have season-long committee value as well as unusually high upside if that injury strikes. Unfortunately, I expect them both to have high ownership.

I expect much of my roster to be pretty highly owned (or at least widely considered), so it's not really worth going through player-by-player to highlight the obvious reasons for their value. Tyrod Taylor, Rashad Jennings, Julian Edelman, and Jimmy Graham are the players who might count as "my guys" where I'm higher on them than most people are. Taylor put up Russell Wilson-like numbers last year (literally) and has high weekly upside plus a weak playoff schedule, Jennings is unusually cheap for a starting RB with a strong chance to be his team's clear lead back (and he looked good late last year in that role), Edelman (like Welker before him) has reliably been a high-end PPR WR when he's played, and I already said nice things about Graham.

The players not on my roster that were hardest for me to part with were LeSean McCoy, Robert Turbin, Chris Conley, and the Cleveland Browns defense.

Jameis Winston (6)    $14

Blaine Gabbert (8) $7

Carson Wentz (4) $6

You have to save money somewhere, and QB is my choice.  3 guys at the same cost as Rodgers alone, including 1 who has a legitimate shot at being top 10.  Thought about Stafford instead of Winston, but couldn’t get comfortable with him (and besides, I like the week 6 bye better than a week 10 bye).  Had RGIII for a long time, but wasn’t sure he’d still be on the field come crunch time, so when Wentz became the clear starter, I went with him.

David Johnson (9)        $30

LeVeon Bell   (8)       $27

Charles Sims  (6)        $12

Isaiah Crowell (13)       $10

Spencer Ware   (5)        $8

Loved the value of Bell at a discounted price and figured my other guys could get me through the early weeks (especially with Ware getting extra carries early on).  The Johnson/Bell combo should give me a great 1-2 punch and the other 3 guys can all contribute starter numbers any given week and would be huge if their backfield mate gets hurt. All have different bye weeks, so (barring injury) at least 4 will be active every week. I had CMike for a long time, but when I downgraded to Wentz and Gabbert (from RGIII and Osweiler)it freed up enough cash to upgrade to Ware, who has a better long-term expectation.

Julio Jones (11)          $32

T.Y. Hilton  (10)         $22

Sterling Shepard (8)     $11

Tyler Boyd (9)            $6

Devin Funchess (7)         $6

Rishard Matthews (13)      $6

Kenny Stills (8)          $4

I wanted quantity at WR, and ended up with 7 guys with 6 different bye weeks. Two studs, a probable WR2 and a bunch of cheap value guys.  It may be the Pitt homer in me, but I think Boyd is being criminally undervalued.  Yeah, I know he doesn’t have the metrics (then again, neither did Hines Ward), but all the guy does is catch the ball and score touchdowns. He’s also the clear #2 in Cincy (LaFell, seriously?), so he should get a lot of those targets that went to Sanu and Jones in the past.

Gary Barnidge(13)        $12

Jason Witten (7)        $11

Zach Miller (9)           $8

Jesse James  (8)          $2

Like everyone else, I wanted Gronk, but couldn’t afford him.  Got 3 borderline TE1’s at about the same price instead.  Had the Outlaw from day 1, waiting for Green to show up. When he didn’t, James stayed.  He won’t be a TE1, but in limited pre-season time, it looked like Ben had confidence in him, so I can see Heath Miller type production: and occasional 5-60-1 game that will contribute since I don’t have to guess when it will happen. Again, 4 different bye weeks, so (before injuries),I’ll have at least8 guys (2 RBs,4 WRs and 2 TEs) competing for flex spots every week.

Dan Carpenter (10)         $3

Ryan Succop (13)           $2

Nick Folk (11)             $2

Meh, 3 cheap kickers who hopefully make it through the year.

Carolina Panthers (7)     $7

Cleveland Browns (13)      $2

I’ve always been a “3 cheap D” guy, but that’s only gotten me to the money once.  When I looked at last year’s finals,I noticed only 2 of the top 30 teams went that route, so I decided to try something else.  Since Defenses don’t get cut or go on IR, I’m comfortable with only 1 top D and one cheap bye week fill in.

ETA: formatting a cut-and-paste stinks.

I mostly forgot about this until yesterday.  I am only playing in one league this year, so my prep time was very minimal.  Looking over the rosters though, it seems that the only "gimme" I missed was Jesse James at TE.

QB - Tom Brady - NE/9 - $15QB - Matthew Stafford - DET/10 - $12

Brady seems pretty popular, as does Stafford.  Like everyone, I am hoping for Brady to have a big year, post-suspension.

RB - Lamar Miller - HOU/9 - $28RB - Adrian Peterson - MIN/6 - $28RB - Spencer Ware - KC/5 -$8RB - Derrick Henry - TEN/13 - $7RB - Christine Michael - SEA/5 - $4

Went with just two main RBs - hoping that Peterson could be a differential this year.  Have to wait and see the ownership stats.  The remaining 3 are just lottery tickets - hopefully paying off towards the later part of the season (ideally by week 9) - though Ware and Michael may get a shot early.  With Ware, I am counting on Charles not lasting the season.  Henry I hope just takes the job eventually.

WR - Odell Beckham Jr - NYG/8 - $33WR - Allen Robinson - JAX/5 - $28WR - DeSean Jackson - WAS/9 - $14WR - Josh Gordon - CLE/13 - $13WR - Will Fuller - HOU/9 - $6WR - Devin Funchess - CAR/7 - $6WR - Mike Wallace - BAL/8 - $5

I have Beckham in my one league, so felt compelled to grab him here.  I expect Beckham and Robinson to be the primary WRs here, scoring every week, with Jackson filling in until Gordon returns. Fuller, Funchess, Wallace were just guys I saw on various "sleeper" lists - no idea if any will pan out.

TE - Antonio Gates - SD/11 - $11TE - Clive Walford - OAK/10 - $6TE - Virgil Green - DEN/11 - $4

Everyone in the FFA says to draft Gates, so I did.  I was hoping Walford might be a low-priced differential, and I expected everyone to have Green.  I really tried to get Gronk, but just could never get a roster I was happy with.  Maybe should have grabbed Kelce so I could have all the TEs in the AFC West.  Jesse James was not on my radar - so opportunity missed there.  Also did not double check the bye weeks - not thrilled with two on the same week, but lets face it - a week 11 bye is the least of my worries.

PK - Matt Bryant - ATL/11 - $4PK - Matt Prater - DET/10 - $3PK - Nick Novak - HOU/9 - $3

Meh.  Three kickers.  Mostly indoor and on teams I expect to be high scoring, with different bye weeks.

TD - Houston Texans - HOU/9 - $5
TD - Cincinnati Bengals - CIN/9 - $5
TD - Cleveland Browns - CLE/13 - $2

Again, did not pay attention to Bye weeks.  Too many changes to the roster, and just got lazy in the end.

Overall its 23 players, but its not very deep.  2 players suspended to start the season, and a number of players who may or may not be starting at any point this season.  If am going to advance very far, I will need Peterson, DeSean Jackson, and Antonio Gates to have big years, and then 1 or 2 of the prospects to find regular playing time.  It could happen...

I've been playing in this contest since they started it and only cashed once.  This year I put a heavy focus on top RB's and WR's and made sure I was bye friendly.  Hopefully it works out for me!

QB - Matthew Stafford - DET/10 - $12QB - Brock Osweiler - HOU/9 - $8QB - Carson Wentz - PHI/4 - $6

I went for value and bye weeks with my QB's.  I think Stafford is primed for a solid year, Brock should be serviceable and Wentz is a lotto ticket.

RB - Adrian Peterson - MIN/6 - $28RB - LeVeon Bell - PIT/8 - $27RB - Melvin Gordon - SD/11 - $14RB - Derrick Henry - TEN/13 - $7RB - Christine Michael - SEA/5 - $4

Top heavy with AP and Bell and good value on the other three IMO.  I'm betting on Henry or Gordon putting up some solid games at some point this year.

WR - Allen Robinson - JAX/5 - $28WR - Mike Evans - TB/6 - $24WR - Brandon Marshall - NYJ/11 - $22WR - Josh Gordon - CLE/13 - $13WR - Marvin Jones - DET/10 - $12WR - Kenny Stills - MIA/8 - $4

Normally, I take one studish WR and spend the rest on swing for the fences type players.  I went stud heavy at WR this year with Jones and Stills rounding out the bottom at great values.

TE - Zach Miller - CHI/9 - $8TE - Clive Walford - OAK/10 - $6TE - Tyler Higbee - LA/8 - $5TE - Hunter Henry - SD/11 - $4TE - Jesse James - PIT/8 - $2

I usually try to grab a stud here also.  This year I decided to go value and quantity over quality.

PK - Matt Prater - DET/10 - $3PK - Nick Folk - NYJ/11 - $2

TD - Kansas City Chiefs - KC/5 - $6TD - Houston Texans - HOU/9 - $5

Risky with only 2 kickers and 2 defenses.  I love the picks at D, going with 2 solid D's at great value. Kicker was strictly low cost and I made a last minute move to get Stills in the lineup and ditched a third K..

854 entries have Brady/Stafford

1191 have Green/James

14902 entries total (which includes staff since it's from the querier) - so 1402 (minus staff) will miss the week 1 cut :scared:

Here's my entry with the count of the number of entries that have them.  I have some guys that are relatively unique - but that's probably for a reason other than they are too dominate.

I really did not make too many changes compared to some of you.  I probably did about 20 iterations and this was my final.  Over the past week, I have looked at it several times, and just never wanted to make a change, so I didn't.  Just missed the final 250 last year, so sticking with the strategy to see if I can get the right mix of luck and luck. (without Luck)

QB

Andy Dalton $12

Matt Stafford $12

RG3 $7

I don't love any of them individually, but collectively I like the upside on all of them.  12.4% of the money, so that seems like a good random ratio.

RB

Latavius Murray $19

Jeremy Hill $15

Charles Sims $12

Rashad Jennings $12

Derrick Henry $7

Alfred Morris $3

I think Hill is in for a huge bounce back, Murray behind a good o-line and not priced too high, Sims in a PPR is good, hoping Jennings picks up where he left off last 4 games last year, I think Henry is the starter by week 6 in Ten, Morris a flyer in a great situation if the fantasy football messiah goes down.  27.2% of the funds.  I like that.  Just a little higher than twice the QB money spent.

WR

Keenan Allen $23

Donte Moncrief $19

Eric Decker $18

Willie Snead $14

Marvin Jones $12

Tyler Boyd $6

Devin Funchess $6

Jaelen Strong $5

Love the first five.  Feel like I have a chance to have, week to week, two of the top 8 WRs in any given week with this group.  Boyd a flyer, but should contribute and we all know Funchess upside.  Strong was my mistake, and I overlooked that one.  Probably the guy most likely not to point for me all year.  41.2% shows importance of WR to me.

TE

Antonio Gates $11

Eric Ebron $10

Virgil Green $4

Hunter Henry $4

Starting to see the pattern of not putting money on the studs.  One gets hurt, and you have nothing to cover the bases.  In a year like last year riddled with injury, this was a good strategy, but if players stay healthy overall this year, I am sure I will not be long for the contest.  I think the use of the TE in the Pit passing game has been WAY overstated.  Its probably stupid to fade a highly owned $2 player, but F Pittsburg.  11.6% of money.  Many spend more, but I like the value with this group.

PK

Nick Novak $3

Sebastian Janikowski $3

John Lambo $3

Nick Folk $2

Cheap darts.  4.4% of money.

DEF

Bengals $5

49ers $3

Titans $2

Cheap darts again, but don't like paying for Def.  Wanted to get Houston on the roster, but they have same bye as Cincinnati.  4% of funds.

While there is no 22-kicker guy this year :kicksrock: there are TWO 20-kicker guys :excited:

20-Kicker Guy 1

20-Kicker Guy 2

But the real hero of the contest this year is none other than 22 DEFENSE GUY!!!! :pickle: :excited:  :pickle:

22-Defense Guy

And a special shout out to

21-QB Guy!

and

20-QB Guy!

The closest thing to an RB hero is this entry:

14-RB Guy!

It's a similar story with the WRs as the most anybody roostered was 15 - by players.

And for all the talk of cheap TEs - the most anyone roostered was 8.  And there's only 4 guys who did that :kicksrock:

So there ya go!

Tom Brady             $15

Arizona Cardinals      $7

Kansas City Chiefs     $6

So, this year I kinda figured the meta was tilting towards stud WR.  That zero RB theory thing is everywhere.  So, I decided my initial strategy would be to go stud RB and hope the guys I got stay healthy.  That strategy stayed with me throughout.  Whats funny is that I started out with small 18 to 22 sized rosters, but eventually there were so many cheap guys I like for one reason or another that I eventually got to a roster of 30.  I think my biggest previously was 27, so this is a bit of a departure.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tom Brady             $15
Derek Carr            $13
Case Keenum            $2

Brady was cheap, Carr I think steps it up a level this year, and Case was cheap and helps early on while Brady sits.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ezekiel Elliott       $29
LeVeon Bell           $27
C.J. Anderson         $22
Spencer Ware           $8
James White            $5
Christine Michael      $4

I think Zeke is legit.  Even post Romo injury.  Bell is a top 3 back after his suspension.  CJ I think can bounce back with Denver leaning on the run this year and having another fantastic D.  I have him in a lot of redrafts as well, I think he is valued incorrectly by most.  Ware gets a chance to contribute early and maybe JC doesn't last the full season.  White will do well in this format imo.  Michael, I dunno, I put him on and took him off this squad so many times.  In the end, he's the lotto ticket that probably everyone bought.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Donte Moncrief        $18
DeSean Jackson        $14
Michael Thomas         $9
Ted Ginn               $6
Will Fuller            $6
Devin Funchess         $6
Quinton Patton         $5
Chris Hogan            $5
Kenny Stills           $4
Andre Johnson          $3
Charles Johnson        $3

This was a bit different than my typical design.  I usually get at least 1 stud WR.  I went with zero, but also a group of guys that I think can blow up for a big game at any given moment.  With 11 WRs, I'm pretty sure that volume can more than make up from my lack of studs here.  We'll see.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Delanie Walker        $16
Clive Walford          $6
Virgil Green           $4
Jesse James            $2

Yeah, I often have gone stud TE or even double stud TE in this format.  I just think all 4 will contribute and were values at their price, so I was comfortable enough to spend money elsewhere this year.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sebastian Janikowski   $3
Josh Lambo             $3
Ryan Succop            $2
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Houston Texans         $5
Dallas Cowboys         $3
Tennessee Titans       $2
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

854 entries have Brady/Stafford

1191 have Green/James

14902 entries total (which includes staff since it's from the querier) - so 1402 (minus staff) will miss the week 1 cut :scared:

-QG
Only 2 other teams have my core of Johnson/Bell at RB and Julio/Hilton at WR.  Both are 18 man rosters; one has only Witten and  Watson (!) at TE (ensuring a 0 at least one week there) and the other has L. Miller and Morris as the only other RBs.  Since Miller and Johnson have the same week 9 bye, he'll need Morris to score then, in a tough cut week. He also has A.J Green out that week, so his only potential flex scores will be Wallace, Davante Adams and whichever of Cook and Walford doesn't count as his TE score .  Plus, his only kickers are Jason Meyers and Josh Scobee (!). I'm satisfied with my "uniqueness factor" factor based on that alone.

Going with the suspension team of Brady, Bell, and Gordon. I like it a lot. Probably my favorite team listed so far.

Overall, your strategy in this contest is extremely similar to mine. I had every player on your team at one point during my process except for Edelman and Graham.

Final team with commentary...

QB - Tom Brady - NE/9 - $15
QB - Jameis Winston - TB/6 - $14

I've had Winston on my team since Day 1.  As you can see from my team I think he and the TB offense are poised to explode this year.  I went back and forth with Manning, Brady and Stafford as my 2nd QB.  In the end I felt comfortable that I can survive the 4 weeks without Brady so I went with him.  I never seriously considered a 3rd QB this year with the increased QB pricing.  I figured whatever gains I got at the QB position from a 3rd QB would be minimal and not worth the cost.

RB - Charles Sims - TB/6 - $12
RB - LeGarrette Blount - NE/9 - $10
RB - Spencer Ware - KC/5 - $8
RB - Kenneth Dixon - BAL/8 - $8
RB - Derrick Henry - TEN/13 - $7
RB - Shaun Draughn - SF/8 - $6
RB - Christine Michael - SEA/5 - $4
RB - Alfred Morris - DAL/7 - $3

Obviously this position group is going to make or break my strategy.  When I looked at the list of players, I loved the value of the RBs under $10.  There wasn't a single top priced RB that I felt completely comfortable investing a lot of money in.  I expect Sims and Blount to provide good scores sporadically, and Sims has monster upside if Martin misses any time.  Ware is in line to see some early season work and I personally don't believe Charles will ever come back to the to type of workhorse roles he has had in the past.  I believe Dixon and Henry will both take over their respective jobs by midseason and finish strong down the stretch.  I seem to be one of the few on the Draughn train this year but he has potential to be this years Theo Riddick, as a pass catching RB on a team that will be behind and forced to throw often.  Michael seems to have carved out a role for himself.  Rawls is talented but has a very limited track record and is coming off an injury.  Morris is a complete lottery ticket but I will take my chances with a guy who would likely be an instant top 10 RB behind the Dallas OLine.  I am not expecting my RB's to be a strength of my team, but I do think I should be able to pull together 2 solid scores a week, especially as the season progresses.

WR - Antonio Brown - PIT/8 - $35
WR - Mike Evans - TB/6 - $24
WR - Keenan Allen - SD/11 - $23
WR - Josh Gordon - CLE/13 - $13
WR - Marvin Jones - DET/10 - $12
WR - Will Fuller - HOU/9 - $6
WR - Devin Funchess - CAR/7 - $6

Almost half of my entire budget was spent here, and my goal is for this position group to carry my team.  If Brown and Big Ben both stay healthy I think they break records this year.  I never once considered a team without him.  As mentioned previously I am all in on TB offense this year and I expect a monster year from Evans.  Allen is one of my favorite WRs this year, I wouldn't be the slightest bit surprised if he led the NFL in catches this season.  Gordon is obviously a risky pick but there is nobody in his price range who carries his kind of upside.  Jones may be the most owned player in this contest as he is criminally underpriced.  Fuller and Funchess are two young WRs who will be inconsistent but will have a handful of big games.  This group will need to carry me in the early going while I hopefully wait for my RB situation to improve and Brady to come back.

TE - Martellus Bennett - NE/9 - $9
TE - Clive Walford - OAK/10 - $6
TE - Vance McDonald - SF/8 - $6
TE - Virgil Green - DEN/11 - $4
TE - Jesse James - PIT/8 - $2

Bennett has monster potential in NE offense (especially if Gronk were to get hurt) and well worth the risk at $9.  McDonald is on literally every roster I have this year.  As long as Gabbert is at QB I expect a breakout year from him.  Walford, Green and James are all very popular obviously.  I'm not expecting monster games or a lot of flex plays from this group but a consistent 15-20 points should be doable.

PK - Ryan Succop - TEN/13 - $2
PK - Andrew Franks - MIA/8 - $2
PK - Nick Folk - NYJ/11 - $2

3 cheapest

TD - Philadelphia Eagles - PHI/4 - $6
TD - Detroit Lions - DET/10 - $3
TD - Tennessee Titans - TEN/13 - $2

I don't normally spend any money on defenses but I really like Philly this year, plus they have an early bye.

OK, my FBG Contest site should now be fully operational with rosters locked and loaded: http://o.ffense.com/fbg35k/

Please take a moment to check out your team and let me know if anything looks off.  If you had an account from prior years it should still work, so you can link entries to your account, etc.

And while we're waiting for kickoff, poke around the site, check out some ownership stats, add a What If? roster, do some queries, whatever.  I think everything's good to go but I've been pretty busy so I rushed through the update this season so it wouldn't surprise me if something got broken.  Definitely let me know if you find any issues.

So, I ended up pretty unique with my top 2 RBs and WRs - not sure if that is good or bad.

Made it to week 12 last year and missed the cut by 3 points only to see my team blow up the next few weeks :(   Hopefully I can make it further this year!

QB - Tom Brady - NE/9 - $15
QB - Matthew Stafford - DET/10 - $12
QB - Robert Griffin III - CLE/13 - $7
QB - Case Keenum - LA/8 - $2
Cost: $36
RG3's upside at $7 is too difficult to not roster.  Even though Brady is missing the first 4 games, his cost is low enough and the cutline is forgiving.  Stafford too cheap to not roster and my guess would be that Goff doesn't start this year based on how he's done so far to start so I figured what the hell and rostered Keenum

RB - LeVeon Bell - PIT/8 - $27
RB - Theo Riddick - DET/10 - $13
RB - Charles Sims - TB/6 - $12
RB - Derrick Henry - TEN/13 - $7
RB - Christine Michael - SEA/5 - $4
RB - Alfred Morris - DAL/7 - $3
Cost: $66
An earlier iteration, I punted big time on RB having Riddick as my highest paid RB, but decided to go w/ Bell.  His 3 game suspension is no biggie.  Love the price of Derrick Henry, I have a feeling he'll be rostered all over the place.  CMike and Alf are two handcuffs that could both be really valuable.  I expect Alf to be valuable even if Elliott doesn't get injured.

WR - Allen Robinson - JAX/5 - $28
WR - Mike Evans - TB/6 - $24
WR - Tyler Lockett - SEA/5 - $15
WR - Josh Gordon - CLE/13 - $13
WR - Will Fuller - HOU/9 - $6
WR - Chris Hogan - NE/9 - $5
WR - Kenny Stills - MIA/8 - $4
WR - Chris Conley - KC/5 - $3
Cost: $98
ARob and Evans, TD monsters w/ early BYE weeks.  Not worried about the Gordon suspension thanks to the cutline.  I love Lockett, so I wanted him on my team.  I liked the cost of Fuller, Stills, and Conley.  I think Fuller's has a high weekly ceiling, but also a really low floor.  Stills appears to have supplanted Parker, and Conley is a physical freak that could break out.

TE - Martellus Bennett - NE/9 - $9
TE - Jared Cook - GB/4 - $8
TE - Vance McDonald - SF/8 - $6
TE - Virgil Green - DEN/11 - $4
TE - Jesse James - PIT/8 - $2
Cost: $29
As much as I'd have liked to have spent more on TE, I wasnt able to do it.  I have a feeling that Green and James will be the two most heavily rostered TEs this season.  Hopefully Cook is able to take a leap forward now that he has Rodgers throwing the ball and Vance could be the safety blanket for SF and get a ton of targets

PK - Chris Boswell - PIT/8 - $5
PK - Roberto Aguayo - TB/6 - $3
PK - Ryan Succop - TEN/13 - $2
Cost: $10

TD - Kansas City Chiefs - KC/5 - $6
TD - Houston Texans - HOU/9 - $5
Cost: $11

Tom Brady $15
Matt Ryan $12
Matthew Stafford $12

I had some hope that the Brady/Stafford combo wouldn't be highly owned. I've got the feeling my hope was misplaced.
I think Ryan is also grossly underpriced. I'm banking that last year's decline was an aberration and not a trend.

Matt Forte $21
Arian Foster $12
Rashad Jennings $12
Bilal Powell $11
Jerick McKinnon $8
Christine Michael $4
Alfred Morris $3

I committed to the Jets running attack as my foundation which probably wasn't the smartest thing, but I've long had a
man-crush on Forte and I think Powell is very underpriced. I'm hoping Jennings is going to be the bellweather in NY.
The others are bets on role changes, but guys who I think still stand a reasonable chance to have a big game in any
given week. This crew likely isn't good enough to advance without some serious help and/or Foster doing Foster things
for a chunk of the season. I think Foster was an almost most-roster given his upside for the season in general and in
any given week in particular.

Allen Hurns $17
Michael Crabtree $15
Michael Floyd $15
Marvin Jones $12
Will Fuller $6
Cole Beasley $5
Andre Johnson $3
Corey Brown $2

I just couldn't justify spending up for the big guys. Corey Brown is probably a waste of $2, but I had it laying around
and he felt like a guy who might pan out. This unit is built around #2 WRs, which is a significant departure from my
historical trends. I think Hurns and Crabtree are both criminally undervalued by almost every prognosticator.
Hurns isn't as good as Robinson, but he's an outstanding #2 and explosive enough to score a ton of points on fewer targets.
Ditto Crabtree. I like Floyd a lot, and he actually may be the #1 there. Ma. Jones is ubiquitous. Fuller is
another #2. I've got a sneaky feeling about Andre. He is the lone veteran in Tennessee and he's a pro. He runs
good routes and has reliable hands. Those 2 things are like crack for young QBs. Beasley is likely just a first-half
of the season value. I suspect Dak will be looking for the shorter routes.

Greg Olsen $21
Tyler Eifert $15
Austin Hooper $4
Gavin Escobar $2

I dunno about this. I like Olsen and Eifert. Escobar is a gamble against Witten's health. Hooper is probably a
waste of $4.

Chris Boswell $5
Matt Bryant $4
Ryan Succop $2

All of these PKs had "out?" next to them for every week once rosters locked. Talk about having a panic attack.
I've loved Bryant for years. Boswell and Succup are just "meh".

Houston Texans $5
New York Jets $5
Tennessee Titans $2

I like 3 Defenses.

Ended up going RB heavy and avoided the most popular WR options.  Stacked 2 of 3 QBs with receiving options for some possible oomph when needed and went with some more expensive Def.

QB and TE are mostly chalk options, the lone exception being Clay, which surprised me given the popularity of T Taylor.

Loved Foster and Jennings value at RB, stinks they have the same bye.  Tried to get a different top pair with McCoy/Langford and succeeded fairly well.  Also have some underowned guys in Draughn and Powell that could give me an edge.  Very pleased with the group both talent wise as well as their nice mix of ownership.

Kept A Brown at WR for a while but eventually had to scrap him to get some quantity here.  Thought Floyd would be a lot higher owned than he is, as well as Kearse and Jackson.  It turns out I have a lot more variance here than I expected, which I'll gladly take.  Went contrarian with Boldin against the hugely popular Marvin Jones.

It's going to be a tough week 8 and 9, but am liking how the end numbers turned out.

Jameis Winston $14
Kirk Cousins $13

I don't think I am blazing any trails here, but hey I like both of their situations, and prices.  I think they have as good a chance as any other QBs to stay healthy, and both could have top 10 QB seasons.

LeVeon Bell $27
Giovani Bernard $18
Kenneth Dixon $8
LeGarrette Blount $10
Derrick Henry $7
DeAndre Washington $6

One thing I know is that I rarely have a unique team, so Bell is my shot at getting some uniquness to my entry.  Cutoff is so minimum the first three weeks that frankly, I am happy he's gonna have fresh legs in week 4.  Gio and Blount are steady guys, so I don't get any goose eggs, and both with decent upside.  Dixon/Henry/Washington are home run swings.  Dixon might be a waste of money, but if he hits, I think it'll be big. Henry was a defensive move, everyone will have him.

Mike Evans $24
Donte Moncrief $18
DeSean Jackson $14
Marvin Jones $12
Stefon Diggs $11
Mohamed Sanu $7
Devin Funchess $6
Mike Wallace $5

I had Cooper and Moncrief as my top 2 forever, and think I made the move to Evans from Cooper at the last minute, probably because of bye weeks, and the idea that I think it's more likely that Evans has huge weeks, and gets force fed than Cooper.  When I started filling out this contest, I checked off DeSean and Wallace first, and went from there.  Never thought about removing them.  Two guys that are perfect for best ball, that people tend to not like?  Yes, please.  Funchess is another defensive move, everyone has him, he is essentially irrelevant.  Sanu will earn his $7, I have no doubt.

Tyler Eifert $15
Clive Walford $6
Vance McDonald $6

I went through just about every combo of TE possible, I think.  I had Delanie and Julius, 5 cheapo tight ends, and on and on.  But the way these guys are priced, and the good cheap options, it would not surprise me if the top teams can point to their TE choices as a reason for their success.  In the end, I took what should be a target monster in McDonald, a big play threat in Walford, and a hopefully lightly-owned Eifert.  I love this combination and price, if Eifert is back by week 4 or 5, I am feeling solid.

Matt Prater $3
Dustin Hopkins $3
Roberto Aguayo $3

Three kickers from solid offenses, with different by weeks?  You betcha!

New England Patriots $6
Atlanta Falcons $3
Detroit Lions $3
Tennessee Titans $2

I spent a little bit of time thinking about team defenses, rather than just take Houston/Carolina.  Titans and Lions both have top 10 SOS for DST, and I like the weeks 14-16 schedule for the Pats/Falcons/Lions.

QB    Kirk Cousins    WAS    $13
QB    Matthew Stafford    DET    $12
QB    Case Keenum    LA    $2

Really like Cousins & Stafford to finish above their price level, with some big games by both on occasion.  Just dropped the $2 for some cheap injury/bye week insurance.  Hope Case stays upright and keeps his job.

RB    Jamaal Charles    KC    $28
RB    LeVeon Bell    PIT    $27
RB    DeAngelo Williams    PIT    $13
RB    Spencer Ware    KC    $8
RB    James White    NE    $5
RB    Christine Michael    SEA    $4
RB    Alfred Morris    DAL    $3

I've never done the handcuff thing in this contest before, but I really like locking up two of the most productive backfields in the league with the security of having the backup already in hand who will likely be used in the early weeks.  Hoping White is a cheap contributor and hoping on a CMike or Alf lottery payoff late in the year.

WR    Brandon Marshall    NYJ    $22
WR    Amari Cooper    OAK    $21
WR    Josh Gordon    CLE    $13
WR    Marvin Jones    DET    $12
WR    Michael Thomas    NO    $9
WR    Chris Hogan    NE    $5

Locked in on this group of WR's early and didn't waver much in my various iterations.  Only two share the same bye week.  I went thinner here, but I believe in every guy on this list.  Any one of them can put up 100yds & 2 TD's on any given week.

TE    Delanie Walker    TEN    $16
TE    Eric Ebron    DET    $10
TE    Vance McDonald    SF    $6
TE    Jesse James    PIT    $2

I love Walker this year and think he is a top 3 TE for less.  Ebron is a risk, but I also like McDonald's prospects.  James is some cheap insurance/bonus.

PK    Matt Prater    DET    $3
PK    Ryan Succop    TEN    $2
PK    Andrew Franks    MIA    $2
PK    Nick Folk    NYJ    $2

Don't think I've ever gone with 4 before, but I'm looking for solid weekly points here.

DST    Kansas City Chiefs    KC    $6
DST    San Diego Chargers    SD    $2
DST    Cleveland Browns    CLE    $2

Don't usually throw more than 3 at the minimum, but liked KC at the price.  Wanted Houston, too, but couldn't come up with the extra $3 and also hesitated due to Watt's back issue.

Cost: $11
Conley is one guy I really wanted to fit on my team but just couldn't.  I think he is a steal at his $3 price, but given the fact that I loaded up with stud WRs I didn't think I needed to add another WR

During the playoffs of week 14-16, he used two of his 4 QBs scores, one guy that cost $5 (Tyrod) and one guy that cost $3 (Fitz).   He used his highest priced QB's score ONCE, in week 7.

Awesome.
He survived week 8 by 0.9 pts.
