ESPN's BPI has Boston at 72% and Cavs at 28% to win this series.

My new terrible prediction:

I think the Warriors are going to roll the Rockets in 5 or fewer. I think it's a good matchup for them on the court- as their length, athleticism and ability to switch 1-5 will allow them to contest the Rockets at the 3 point line in a way other teams can't. I also kinda suspect they've been on cruise control basically since signing Durant and this Rockets team- really the first team since then that the media and public have treated as their peers- will motivate them to play at a level we've never seen before.

I've given up on trying to figure out anything involving the Celtics.
Please just pick Cleveland

So i think i know what can re-ignite the Ben Simmons hot takes, since it seems to have died down. More #####ing about Boston or the refs!!!

in all seriousness, this was just kind of funny. So Embiid walked off after the loss, and apparently some Celtics are pissed because he did. I say whatev's, they won so they should probably be thinking about the Cavs and less Sixers, but Embiid could have at least caught with some of them. My thought is he knew he blew that lay-up at the end of the game and he plays too emotional. He gave some kudos during the press conference though where we got serious Embiid. here is the article:  http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2775415-celtics-reportedly-upset-joel-embiid-didnt-shake-hands-after-76ers-lost-game-5

now, what cracked me up was this line from the article here:

"At least man up," a player said in the locker room, per Ben Rohrbach of Yahoo Sports.

So you want him to "man up", but you can't even attach your name to your quote? i would be thinking the same exact thing if it was vice versa, just funny to see players do things like this.

and one more Sixers thing, because I know @Capella loves his Sixers talk. Fultz has been the mystery man all year, and just as strange as Kawhi. He was intereviewed after the game, and was talking how his shoulder "isn't quite 100% still":  http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2775457-markelle-fultz-says-he-is-not-all-the-way-there-in-shoulder-injury-recovery

got to be one of the strangest storylines, but i am happy to hear the kid talk about playing in summer league again. At the worst, that should at least increase his confidence playing against easier competition. I like guys playing in summer league to improve their game a bit, and hope to see other guys who maybe didn't shine as rookies (Lonzo, Josh Jackson, maybe Monk). Seems to be a good way to work on their game and not have to go to the G league.

I think the smart money is on Warriors in 5 or Warriors in 6.  I think Warriors in 5 sounds about right.  Houston has a puncher's chance, but not much more, IMO.

maybe draymond will kick poop beard in the nuts injuring his foot and ending both him and poopbeards seasons after they get in a fight and curry and hold me back bro paul will get in a slap fight and then kevin durant will be abducted by anti hippocrate activists and we can have a series without any jerkalopes in it that would rule take that to the bank bromigos

Ben Simmons said he is not planning on making any major adjustments to his shot this offseason.

"Minor things. But changing the whole shot, no," said Simmons when asked about tinkering with his form this summer. His inability to knock down jumpers, or even attempt shots outside of ten feet was a significant limitation in his game as a rookie. Last season, Simmons became the first guard in 30 years to log more than 2,500 minutes and not make a single 3-pointer. He also shot just 56.0 percent from the free-throw line. Some pundits have suggested he start shooting with his right hand, but Simmons is apparently not planning on making such a drastic change.

Lebron and Magic-like improvements straight ahead.

if he could only choose one to improve, which would be better for Simmons and his team?  To be a 30% 3 point shooter or an 80% free throw shooter?

DWANE CASEY WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111111111
A bit strange that the coach of the year would get fired a few days after getting the award.  I'm not questioning the decision--his playoff resume with the Raptors is certainly not on par with expectations.  With that being said, he'll probably land another gig pretty soon.

3 pointer. Spacing the floor will be huge for Embiid. Plus defenders having to respect his outside shot leaves him to drive and do what he does best and that is find the open man.

What's attractive about Toronto?  I'd say Milwaukee easily.  They have a legit star.
Toronto has a great GM and a ready-made team.  Their problem is that Casey has major shortcomings in the playoffs.

The above point about the potential roster turnover is a good one, but who has a better chance at getting to the finals next year (with a good coach)?

I suppose long term, getting with Giannis makes sense.  Just something about the Bucks organization makes me a little leery.

Are the Bucks that much worse than the Raptors? I would say no and the Raptors have peaked, I don't think the Bucks have.

i just don't understand some of these organizations. i get if Toronto didn't think Casey was best for the job, but who are they going to get who is better? i assume most of these owners were good in the business world, so why act so impetuously and reactive?

It is like saying "i don't like my house, so i will sell it" and not even thinking about where i would live next. i have to think all of these teams know of one and a back-up coach they would want to bring on, seems like insanity to fire a coach then start exploring (unless it is a big failure like Doug Collins was with the Sixers)

I'll take 30% 3s in a heartbeat. This is the new NBA. It isn't an optional shot for your perimeter players. The free throws are a problem and can be used against him but there's workarounds. 56% from the line is unacceptable for a primary ballhandler but it isn't a devastating game changer. The lack of a perimeter threat gives opponents a devastating advantage. The Clippers of the recent past who failed so often in the playoffs had reasonable injury excuses for some of it. But having Blake (who fixed it this past season) and DeAndre as featured players allowed defenses to over-extend on JJ and Chris while packing in everywhere else. Draymond used to beg Blake to take threes and Blake would back him down and do something dumb. It's much worse if the non shooter is running the offense. Philly is the new Clippers until Ben becomes a 3 point threat.

How do you know your shot is broke?

When there is even the slightest possibility of you switching which hand you shoot with
you guys are so reactive in this thread. He was asked a question and answered. For all we know he could start working with his other hand this week. it is a press conference, and the kid is just answering questions. Maybe paying attn to what his coach says holds more weight?:

Derek Bodner✔@DerekBodnerNBA

Brett Brown reiterates that there won't be a complete breakdown in Ben Simmons' jumper. Phrases it as "intense refinement" instead. Will spend time with John Townsend this summer.

ETA: and this one:

Derek Bodner✔@DerekBodnerNBA

Brett Brown says there is "intense planning" and "candid conversations" over the future of Ben Simmons' jump shot. But also says free-throw shooting and finishing at the rim are up there on the priority list as well.

I would think candid conversation = let's figure out which hand is your shooting hand and commit to it

Agreed. Ben probably doesn't know what he's in for this summer. I'm sure they'll try several different approaches seeking something that helps. We had this discussion about Ball a couple months ago. Try to tweak it or tear it down and start over. Experts have long held that at a certain age, I don't know when, but sometime around Ben and Lonzo's age, it's too late to change everything. So they try to work with what they got and improve it. Plenty of debate about that. I land squarely in the tear it down and start over camp.

The major shortcoming is that they kept facing Lebron James.

and it sounds like they will consider that (i edited my post above with another quote from Brett that was more specific. saying they need to have a "candid conversation"). my guess is no matter what, we won't have Simmons with 0 attempts beyond 12 feet from the basket next year. Here is hoping some of those go it

I'd probably be a terrible franchise owner because I tend to blame players (mine and the other teams) more than coaches. Most coaches at this level are going to be really good if given really good rosters. Fans focus on coaching because they get desperate for better results when the answer is poisoning Lebron James, not firing a very successful coach loved by the player and respected league-wide.

Ironic you misspelled "in"

I don't know what to expect from this next round.  My heart says that one of either the C's or Houston can make the finals, but my head says we are in for Lebron v. Warriors 4.0.

I think both series go 6 with Cleveland losing to Golden State in 5.  Sucks, but that is where we are at.

Of course, I thought Boston would lose to Philly in 6 and that Toronto had a really good chance to beat Cleveland.

Pretty much this. Hell I thought Toronto could make the finals, but I had a little more faith in Stevens than you. :)

5Dimes has Houston -1.5 and the o/u 224. I'm on Houston and the under for game 1, so let the Warriors sweep begin. All the Lebrohan in the consolation series. Brad's good, but let's face it, Lebron is in god-mode.

Is Toronto now the most attractive job?  Or Milwaukee better still?
look one of these cities is incredibly cosmoplitan has gorgeous architecture is full of nice canadians on holiday has great festivals all summer is home to wonderful food in sausage form mostly and the other one is toronto i think the choice is pretty easy brohans take that to the bank
