Oregon recruits decommitting too. Neat.
It would be better for both sides if this is over tomorrow.Oregon recruits decommitting too. Neat.
OK but his SOS has been significantly lower than Saban's thru his career at OSU too...until this year So to say Saban is finding the easy way isn't fooling anyone that matters.I don't care what Meyer did while he coached in the SEC.
watThe NFL regular season would basically be unwatchable were it not for fantasy. I don't want to see CFB turn into that.
ASU press release:Herm Edwards to Arizona State. Man, that is just not getting enough attention.
Yes, if you're Akron you are screwed either way.wat
3 "pre-season" college games, half the conference games are complete mismatches.. maybe 2 games per season are in doubt for the power teams. fans go berserk and schools can coaches for losing 3 games a year.
the college regular season is more or less meaningless unless you're one of the top 10-15 programs in the nation.
Most of the games Meyer has coached at OSU were scheduled before he got here. Even the Oklahoma games were scheduled back in 2008.OK but his SOS has been significantly lower than Saban's thru his career at OSU too...until this year So to say Saban is finding the easy way isn't fooling anyone that matters.
Buckeyes still would have made the playoffs losing just to Oklahoma. Iowa killed us.Yes, if you're Akron you are screwed either way.
For everyone else, any game can be your elimination. If New England loses to Cleveland we all have a little laugh and then everyone on the Patriots goes on about their day. If Ohio State loses to Iowa, season over. Better take it seriously.
Philadelphia vs. Seattle. Big game. Not super important as it's unlikely one loss is going to knock either of these teams out of the playoffs. I watched the game with a die hard Eagles fan tonight. He's sad they lost but it's not really a big deal to him. But Oklahoma vs. Ohio State? Huge, because each loss is vital. I watched that one with an OSU fan and it was crushing to him because he knew at the time there was a good chance it would be the difference in their season, which it was.

He's taking all his recruits, Leavitt and Crystobal with him.It would be better for both sides if this is over tomorrow.
If you don't have any decent P5 programs in your non-conference they're gonna punish you for that. FSU was bad this year, but the committee knew that Bama tried to schedule a team that is consistently ranked.Buckeyes still would have made the playoff losing just to Iowa.
Losing one game to a 7-5 Iowa wouldn't have mattered anymore than losing to a 4-8 Syracuse. It was the decision to schedule a non-conference powerhouse game that killed us. It's a 50/50 crapshoot when schools do that. Much safer to just schedule Akron. The playoff committee has spoken. Just don't lose.
As much as the losses get discussed, I really think the committee just watched the OSU-Wisconsin game and thought, "that is just not one of the 4 best teams in the country". Now, of course, they didn't think they were beforehand, as they had them ranked at 8, but that game didn't move the needle much. On paper, sure, it's a nice win for the resume. But if anybody watched Saturday night wanting to see something that suggested OSU was one of the 4 best teams in the country and better than Bama, they didn't see it.Buckeyes still would have made the playoff losing just to Iowa.

I will see if I have any coupons lying about for Bama gear. He's taking all his recruits, Leavitt and Crystobal with him.
This team will be coached by Gary Crowton or Dirk Koetter soon and I'm going to just start rooting for Alabama since I got in there as my fall back school in '91.
I hate college football.
Oool...As several of us have stated, we like true road games. One of the best games I've been to was OU @ ND a few years ago. Baker never would have planted the flag if OU and OSU decided to play at a neutral site. OU is resurrecting its rivalry with Nebraska with a home and home series in a few years. OU has home and homes with UCLA, Tennessee & Michigan scheduled. Wouldn't have it any other way.
Yet Saban's SOS is consistently significantly better than Meyer's, outside this year. If the SEC's overall downturn starts to impact that, it'll change. Most of the games Meyer has coached at OSU were scheduled before he got here. Even the Oklahoma games were scheduled back in 2008.
Here are the home and home series OSU scheduled after Meyer took over:
Oregon, Note Dame, Texas, and Washington.
If Alabama is going to start scheduling home and home series again, it will be years before those games actually get played. Saban will probably retire before they begin again.
that and nobody wanted to see another Clemson/ OSU mismatch in round 1As much as the losses get discussed, I really think the committee just watched the OSU-Wisconsin game and thought, "that is just not one of the 4 best teams in the country". If that game is 30-7, I suspect OSU is probably in the Playoff.
There were only 3 teams with a Playoff-worthy resume. If they just went with imperfect eyeball test to decide with two imperfect candidates for the 4th spot, I'm fine with that.
There can be only one.Who do you hate more Saban or Krzyzewski? I really dislike both, but I think I hate Saban more.
It already does if you care about something other than money. For example, if you care about your fans. You're right...which was because neutral site games are better for $ and recruiting, especially with the replacements of FSU and USC. I think it'll make sense to go back to H-and-H soon.

Because the most important thing is "don't lose twice". If Clemson had lost to either Auburn or South Carolina, they'd be out. Yet they'd still be in if those wins were against Old Dominion and Liberty. We're going to see less and less decent OOC games scheduled going forward, because the benefit of winning those kind of games doesn't outweigh the risk of losing them.If you don't have any decent P5 programs in your non-conference they're gonna punish you for that. Clemson played Auburn and South Carolina, so I don't know why you bring up Syracuse.
They did play who they scheduled, and the committee deemed it not even close enough to be in the top-10.No losses. You play who you are scheduled.
It was fixed obviously so they could get Alabama in.They did play who they scheduled, and the committee deemed it not even close enough to be in the top-10.
Actually yeah I worry about this a bit. I like the big OOC games. I know we’ve got a home and home with Jimbo’s Aggies the next two years and then I believe it’s UGA for a home and home after that. Those games are fun.Because the most important thing is "don't lose twice". If Clemson had lost to either Auburn or South Carolina, they'd be out. ), they’d have one loss and be in right now. I didn’t see a single team play this weekend that was left out that deserves to be in. UCF would get smoked, Wisconsin was awful, OSU wasn’t much better. This past weekend was round 1 and it sucked.Looking forward to the upcoming changes in the NCAA playoff system which will finally and forever eliminate all arguments and determine a true national champion, once and for all time.
Good God, might not want to tell anyone else about this, like ever! There can be only one.
I’d drink Saban’s urine flow if he was trying to put out an on fire Rat Face.

Can't root for Alabama, 'cause eff 'em. Can't root for Ok because of Baker Manziel. Can't root for UGA because of insufferable new money UGA fans. I guess it'sClemsonClempson.![]()
What's the theory on why?It was fixed obviously so they could get Alabama in.
Yes. It shows when Vegas says Alabama is a 1-2 pt favorite as a #4 vs #1.Christo said:Anyone else think Clemson has a tougher matchup than Oklahoma?
Definitely. I mean it's obvious the Ohio State AD who is on the committee fixed the whole thing for Alabama.Glad that you see it.
But it's not about who is or looked the best. It's completely about losses. If it weren't, or were actually about who looked the best, Auburn would be in over Alabama. As much as the losses get discussed, I really think the committee just watched the OSU-Wisconsin game and thought, "that is just not one of the 4 best teams in the country". Bama basically gets a home game too. They’ve been getting the favorable matchups from the start. 3 years ago, the rankings every week were Bama vs OU. Week after week and then we get to the final rankings, Michigan St moves to 3 and gets throttled by Bama, Clemson plays OU who was favored in the 1/4 game.Yes. It shows when Vegas says Alabama is a 1-2 pt favorite as a #4 vs #1.
If the committee loves Alabama so much (and is validated by the Vegas odds), then why didn't they put Alabama at #2 or #1? They are clearly odds on favorites against all of the other 3 teams.
It's a lovefest. I think they're still upset that they couldn't squeeze OSU in this year as well.Bama basically gets a home game too. Well it is Ohio State, they aren't very smart in that neck of the woods.Definitely. I mean it's obvious the Ohio State AD who is on the committee fixed the whole thing for Alabama.
Vegas odds don't validate whether Team A is better than Team B. Vegas odds validate what Joe Public thinks the better team is. Oddsmakers just try to get money fairly evenly split.Yes. It shows when Vegas says Alabama is a 1-2 pt favorite as a #4 vs #1.

A 2-loss Auburn would probably have been ranked #1 over three 1-loss teams so to say it's completely about losses is asinine. Just like the previous notions that it was completely about conference titles or who you beat in previous years were asinine. There is no single variable. But it's not about who is or looked the best. It's completely about losses. If it weren't, or were actually about who looked the best, Auburn would be in over Alabama.
That kickoff classic game against Duke is not easy for their 5 star players to recover from and have to face New Mexico State the following week. That's two bowl teams this year!!!!The committee's suggested and approved road map to the final four.
Surely I can't be the only one that sees the irony of using a team that never plays their biggest rival and historically the toughest matchup in their conference in a true road game as the shining example of playing true road games. As several of us have stated, we like true road games. One of the best games I've been to was OU @ ND a few years ago. Baker never would have planted the flag if OU and OSU decided to play at a neutral site. Reports today are Taggart is meeting with FSU this afternoon. I'd say it's about 90% it's him.So @Capella, thoughts on possibility that Phil Knight makes it rain for Taggart to stay in the Northwest and FSU makes Charlie Strong the guy?
Oklahoma has played true road games out of conference at Ohio State, Tennessee, Notre Dame, and Florida State this decade. While they don't play in Austin they also don't get that home game against Texas in Norman either so that works both ways. No issues with their schedulingSurely I can't be the only one that sees the irony of using a team that never plays their biggest rival and historically the toughest matchup in their conference in a true road game as the shining example of playing true road games.
I’m hopped up on pain meds after throwing my back out, it’s possible I exaggerated. It just got weird
Right, point being that OU is already eliminating one tough (historically their toughest) home and home, so adding another one only brings things to equilibrium. Maybe if Alabama played Auburn at a neutral field every year instead of having to go to on the road to one of the toughest road environments in the country (usually at night) they'd be more amenable to playing some of those OOC toughies as a home and home.Oklahoma has played true road games out of conference at Ohio State, Tennessee, Notre Dame, and Florida State this decade.
