2017 New York Jets: Robby Anderson has been arrested in Florida for the second straight offseason. This is why we can't have nice things. (1 Viewer)

It's possible but it doesn't change the reality of what actually happened though. Did he ever visit the Jets? Did they sign McCown? Would they have signed both? Please. I hope Jay Cutler finds peace in retirement. Im sure he's a good guy and is one of the few people on Earth who could have achieved what he did. However the Jets had some interest in him maybe, but no matter how you want to spin it, they did not go "hard" after him and he did not retire rather than play for them. There's been enough time wasted on this. If you want to tell your story feel free. I'm sure some may have interest in it.
Just an idea. No story to tell here.  Carry on, tough guy.  I'm proud of you.

Tough guy? You brought up knowing Cutler - and maybe you do.

I was just laying out the facts of what happened this offseason as reported. I don't see why that would be inaccurate. I'm not sure what your angle or point is but I apologize for being a little dismissive. It kind of seemed like you just came in to troll though. I may have read it wrong.

You just know the Patriots are gonna screw them and let them win in week 17 keeping Darnold out of the division.

From Rotoworld:

Lorenzo Mauldin - LB - Jets

Jets OLB Lorenzo Mauldin has been accused of beating a man for spilling champagne on him at a nightclub.

Mauldin (6'4/259) allegedly attacked 5-foot-7, 145-pound Jean Lopez when Lopez spilled bubbly on him at the Highline Ballroom. Photos published by the New York Post show a brutally beaten Lopez, who sustained "multiple maxillofacial fractures" and needed "numerous plates" inserted into the left side of his face and lips, according to Lopez's lawyer. Lopez is suing Mauldin for assault and battery, although criminal charges have not been filed.

Did he take it well, or maudlin?

You showed some flashes Lorenzo, but its time to go. If you're 6'4" 260, even if the 145 poundguy "started it", just laugh at him and walk away.

Banner off season for the Jets....if they dont score the #1 pick this year they are truly cursed!

Hack must start game 1....

FWIW, this Mauldin incident happened in April and no criminal charges have been filed.  The Rotoworld account comes straight from the victim's lawsuit against Mauldin (go after the $).  Mauldin's attorney says he wasn't involved and that another dude punched this kid.  It seems like a lot of legal posturing at this point so I'll withhold judgment until the facts are established.

Jets GM Mike Maccagnan said Christian Hackenberg made "good progress" this offseason.

The sophomore has been working with QBs coach Jeremy Bates to correct some of his mechanical flaws, and the MMQB's Albert Breer reported the Jets were happy with Hackenberg's progress following the offseason program. Still, Maccagnan said he is eager to see how the quarterback performs during the preseason. Even if Josh McCown wins the job Week 1, the smart money is on Hackenberg making starts this year.

Robby Anderson is up to 180 pounds and wants to play at 185 this season.

Anderson weighed in at 187 at Temple's Pro Day last year, but he admitted he played his rookie season around 170. The added weight shouldn't be a problem after Anderson blazed a 4.36 forty at his pro day. Anderson is being counted on to be a playmaker for an offense that lacks those types. He's vying for the No. 2 receiver job.

We brought Brady into this world...
As a Pats fan, I actually miss the NE / NY rivalry the last few years. It use to mean so much more when the Jets were in the hunt.

Very hard to win consistently when the QB is constantly changing.

Here's the list of NYJ starting QB's during the Brady era;

Bryce Petty

Ryan Fitzpatrick

Michael Vick

Geno Smith

Greg McElroy

Mark Sanchez

Brett Favre

Kellen Clemens

Brooks Bollinger

Quincy Carter

Chad Pennington

Vinny Testaverde

Granted some of these guys were merely backups, but sheesh ... still quite a stable.

Hopefully one of the young guns in house will be the one to hold onto the position for a decade or so.

It's certainly a sad list.

Pennington was a very efficient QB, a great leader and is the closest thing on that list to a franchise QB (outside of Favre who was only there for a year), Pennington also played well for the most part against the Pats. Including his time in Miami, a team that was lead by Pennington for a full season never missed the playoffs - of course injuries were a big part of who he was though.

The one year of Favre was a joy to watch before he blew out his bicep and Mangini did not have the balls to bench him. He was a surgeon and a gunslinger and really showed what it was like to have a franchise QB under center. They were looking like the best team in the AFC at 8-3 having beaten the Pats in Foxboro (albeit without Brady) and the 10-0, at the time, Titans on the road in consecutive weeks and then it all fell apart once Favre could not throw anymore.

The Jets were competitive with the Pats during the early Sanchez years but that of course was mainly because of their defense - but Sanchez did show some glimpses before Rex Ryan ruined him.

Fitzpatrick had a magical year in 2015, but most fans knew it was an illusion. The team had very little choice but to bring him back but of course that turned out to be a huge mistake.

I do not have much faith in Hack or Petty, but at least we will get to see what they have this year. As of now visions of Sam Darnold dance in the fans' head.

It's early in camp, but this offense will be tragically sad.  Run, run, pass, punt. Rinse, wash, repeat except for the occasional INT.

#1 overall pick here we come.

Agreed. So Marshall was pretty much spot on. People hate him but I like that he speaks his mind.

Just when things couldn't get uglier:

Jets placed WR Quincy Enunwa on injured reserve with a neck injury, ending his season.

Unbelievable. Enunwa, the Jets' clear-cut No. 1 receiver, was injured in a team scrimmage on Saturday. It leaves second-year UDFA Robby Anderson as Gang Green's No. 1. It's a positively cataclysmic situation for a team that should be amongst the most unwatchable in league history this season. As for Enunwa, it's devastating news that wipes out his age-25 campaign. Neck injuries are arguably the trickiest in all of football. His status beyond 2017 should be considered uncertain.

#Jets Week 1 projected 3-WR set:

Robby Anderson
Charone Peake
ArDarius Stewart

I swear those aren't made up.

BUT, if you want, you can create your own NYJ WR name by combining your middle name with the name of the street you grew up on. Mine: Todd Monticello

If your middle name is Todd, it might as well be Scott.

I don't have a middle name.

Although I want them to end up with the top pick in 2018, that sucker in me was actually rooting and proud of the team last night. That might be our only win of the season.

The team looks faster this year. It was good to get rid of the older veterans. The kids look hungrier and perhaps more united this year.

8 sacks was sick. Williams is a beast. Nice to have some speed in the secondary. It's only preseason, so it's easy to discount a lot, but maybe Kevin Greene's influence and coaching is actually helping the LBs.

Robbie Anderson looked great. Jalin Marshall needs to invest in stickum. The guy has terrible hands. We actually had passes to the TE and FB. I didn't know those positions existed on this team.....although the FBs couldn't catch a cold.

The o-line run blocking looked pretty bad. McGuire got hit in the backfield a lot. He did have a couple of nice runs wiped out on penalties.

Hack wasn't a disaster. Baby steps.  McCown had a good drive, but he is what he is at age 38.  Good to see him helping out the other QBs during the game.

Bowles still looks like a zombie in his post-game conferences. Someone should check for a pulse.

To be honest I had mixed feelings watching the last game -

Good to see a lot of hungry kids with upside - that is the goal of the season - let the youngsters develop and... Get a top 2 pick for franchise QB - I hate to be conflicted but that did not look like a bottom 2 team in the league....the DL can be dominant...if the rest of the D improves they could win a few games almost by themselves....which leads me to the mixed feelings...I want to see the kids play well but fear another 6 win season...bad but another pick outside the franchise QBs....this is why McCown should not start in my opinion...sure he's much better than Hack but the only thing it will do is hurt the franchise long term playing him.....Hack either stinks it up and gets them a real franchise QB or he develops and none may be needed....either way keeping him in handcuffs and on the sidelines will not help.  Going to be a strange year to be a Jet fan.

Very true. It will be just our luck to win some meaningless game(s) and fall just outside the top QB picks.

Other than getting the kids some game experience, the only thing that really matters is to see if Hack can play. I have no faith in Bowles to play Hack.

Realistically this team should have a solid defense with weak CBs....hopefully this year sees the return of Mo Williams; the development of Leo, Lee, the safeties and hopefully at least one CB emerges...if that happens the defense should be fine and some tinkering next year should get it to a top level D.

As for the O - we are talking start from scratch - not one player may be worth saving bad.....with a hopeful top pick they can hopefully find that elusive franchise QB but with that OL and lack of weapons Brady would have been destroyed last pm....$60+M in cap space next year...better save half of that to rebuild that OL.

he looks bad but tough to judge him on that abomination that called itself an OL last pm.....this offense is going to be Kotite bad.
True but even when there is no pressure he is very inaccurate.

Doesn't help that for some reason the coaches aren't using the preseason to have him get some experience - they baby him and run every first and second down.

Preseason Week 2 - 3rd and 13. Should we get Hackenberg some experience? No let's run the ball. Bowles is brain dead.

This is like jimmy Johnson having the more talented players that he wouldn't play because he was getting conditional draft picks and wanted the higher picks. Hackenbug will suck enough to get the first pick next year. They could get 6 wins with mccown and a little defense, but hack will get the nod and the 2008 lions will be cracking the champagne when they become one of 2 winless teams.

totally agree...let the kid sling it for crying out loud - it's friggin pre-season....Bowles is awful and hopefully the second best thing to come out of this season besides a franchise QB will be a new HC.

and I totally agree with that direction - there is zero point to rolling with McCown and getting 6 useless wins....problem is Hack has looked so bad that I think they will get gun shy of being embarrassed and will start the season with Mc.

Someone will get a great defensive coordinator.

That's been the MO - Rex is/was a great DC....not a great HC....I understand that these defensive minded coaches lean onto their background but Bowles has followed the Rex path and has little input/understanding as to the offense and it shows....when will these coordinators learn that they have to be well rounded and at least get intimately involved in both sides of the ball to be a good HC...I'm sure Bowles will be a great DC after this failed chance but I just dont see him ever developing as a HC.....but then again Bellichick was a failure in Cleveland so it all depends on what you learn from the 1st time around (and drafting the an All Time QB in the 7th rd!)

Nope.  Being a good head coach has nothing to do with knowing offense.  It has to do with knowing people.  Hiring good coaches, letting them coach, holding them accountable for results.  Bill Belichek doesn't know squat about offense, I bet he doesn't even tell them to run or throw on 4th and 1 - he just says "go get it" and holds the guys accountable for the result.  Harbaugh, Tomlin, Carroll, Rivera, Quinn - none are offensive type guys.  All have been in or won Super Bowls recently.  It's just like managers at work - they don't really have to even know how to do the job in many cases, they just need to know how to get the employees to do the job well.  One of the reason Fisher was so terrible was because he didn't let his coaches coach, so he couldn't get anyone of any talent to even interview.

I know you think you're being smart when you say that, but it's just silly.

While I agree the HC doesnt have to be an offensive whiz to be a good HC but I think it is more than just hiring a good OC and let er rip......I also disagree that BB doesnt know squat about offense....I recall seeing lots of snippets on ESPN/NFL network and others with him intimately involved in the planning of the offensive game plan.  Why wouldnt a great defensive mind get involved in the O and help out with how to beat certain formations/packages....  Rex was a glorified DC as HC and now Bowles is doing the same....I'm not a fan of this approach.

Harbaugh, the former Special Teams & DB coach, now head coach in BAL.   The other guy is a clown.  I suppose I should have been more specific though, my bad.

Maybe the Jets should bring in the CEO of Exxonmobil to be the head coach after Bowles is fired.
