I really like what I have seen out of Lynch. The reservations of him being out of football and older have been wiped away for me. We don't over use him and I think he will be as effective as he ever was.

Agree -- while I do think he looks a little less powerful and quick as he did two years ago, it's clear his FB IQ is still there as is his heart -- looking to fall forward for those extra yards, no hesitation with contact and keeping his legs churning, etc.
He won't be the Beastmode we all loved and remembered when he wore college navy, action green, and wolf gray, but he fits in perfectly as a 2 down back in Silver and Black, and with continued use of Washington and Richard on later downs (both of whom looked solid this week), I agree that Lynch can be very effectively used (and not overused) in a running rotation that should but us in the top 10 in rush yards again this year.

I didn't see that much loss in power. A tad in speed. But what I like about what he can do for us is that so many teams base D is basically a Nickel now. We have Richard and Washington for speed but that power is something that can do damage when you have basically an extra DB in. Add that in with our line who can move the big fellas up front out of the way then there can be some good movement of the ball on the ground.
Any loss in power or speed I think is going to be more than made up for in his desire. I don't think he has ever wanted to play well as he does now. He LOVES his city and he is playing for his city. It was pre-season and there were a couple of times he could easily have just gone down and no one would have said a word but he was throwing stiff arms and pushing piles and fighting for every yard.
Fantasy wise I didn't go after him hard. I did pick him up in a league he was available in before he was brought back but I had real concern about his ability to come back at his age with having a year off of football and being effective. Even more so for the type of running that is his style. I have no concern now. He is a weapon for us and with the compliment of Richard and Washington to take snaps off his workload and having teams unable to put an extra players in the box because of our air game then he will do damage.

I also liked what I saw in our new additions on offense with Patterson and Cook. Both how they are being used and how they are playing.
With the Pat's loosing Edelmen, I think we now have the most complete and dangerous offense in the NFL.

I think Cook is an average TE at best.
Has Walford shown enough to be considered good, or convince people will become a good TE this year?
Smith is probably one of the best blocking TEs in the league but I am not sure, as a team that the Raiders have a legitimate TE threat in the passing game.

To summarize:
"In the first halves of three exhibition games, quarterbacks Carson Palmer, Drew Stanton, Jared Goff and Zak Prescott were a combined 42 for 57 passing for 424 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions. The Raiders have given up 37 first downs during that time."

I think Cook is better than his numbers in the past suggest. His real value is with his speed it makes him a tough matchup problem on an offense that already gives a D their hands full. If you don't account for him then he can hurt you. If you do then you have to find someone speedy enough and physical enough to cover him which is going to be tough.
I am still up in the air about Walford. I am not ready to write him off but he hasn't shown enough to look anything more than a bust.
Yea, Smith is one of the best blocking TE's in the game- it actually is what ends up hurting him in the passing game since he is underutilized as a catcher but he doesn't have the dynamic play making ability to really make it worth while. It is more about keeping D's honest in giving him a catch now and then.
Similar to Patterson is that I see Cook being a piece that helps make the sum greater than it's parts. Do we have a Gronk? Of course not. Our TE's are not going to carry the offense for us. But Cook's presence helps the rest of our offense.
Yeah, the homer announcers didn't say a word about it. They were stabilizing his head when they cut away to commercial and that was all we knew. I'm glad it was a concussion and not a neck injury. Losing him would be devastating to an already porous defense.
I could be wrong, but it looked like Adams got the start this week. Not sure if he did any better than Lee but it looks like the team is still searching for answers at that position which is concerning with only one preseason game left.

I'm not sure where you get the GB and TE thing. You have to go back to the 2012 season to get a TE that put up better numbers than he did.
Look, again, I am not looking for huge numbers from him. I would not (and do not) have him in fantasy. His value is in defenses knowing they have to account for him or they have a TE who can take it all the way. I will gladly take his 12 yards per catch from the TE spot which helps stretch the field. It goes back to my original comment. We have a complete offense. What are you going to stop? The passing game by putting in an extra DB or two.... enjoy stopping Lynch that way. Oh, you are going to key on the run? How are you going to stop Cooper and Crabtree? Oh, double team them... ok, who is going to run with Cook and Patterson. Cook and Patterson, by themselves, have not shown much in the NFL but their speed demands respect when you have to deal with the likes of Lynch, Richard, Washington, Cooper and Crabtree.
Now.... if we can get that D put together.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Perry Riley added after week 1.
Beyond that, I could see some ST performer get signed, but I dunno if we go crazy after cuts.

I wonder why Reggie doesn't put a premium on LBs. Makes me wonder if his ego gets in the way a bit. Being a LB himself I get the feeling between him, JDR and Norton they think they can develop a diamond in the rough instead of using a high draft pick on guys like Foster. I mean, even a 4th round pick for Ragland didn't seem out of line to me.
The strategy of developing late round draft picks and backing them up with aging vets like Jenkins and Riley hasn't really panned out for them yet. It looks like another season of TEs having career games against us again.

Yes. Still the LBs need to be more disciplined and/or instinctive. Perfect example was the Witten TD in the last preseason game. The LBs bit on the play action which left Obi alone with Witten and it was no contest. I get it, it was Obi's first game against one of the best TEs of all time which is why the LB needed to drop in coverage to help Obi or to break up the pass. Hopefully Obi turns out to be a big help in that area, but realistically he won't be able to do it all on his own all the time.

Yea.... there has been nothing about him at all. I have not seen even a footnote about him on anything. Not a good sign at all and you do have to wonder if that means he has a chance at PS at all.

I feel much better when we're not being picked as a Super Bowl contender.
(though the Vegas odds had us in the top 3 in the AFC, last I looked, so it's not like we're sneaking up on anyone.
