2017 US OPEN - Erin Hills (1 Viewer)

I can't believe how far those guys have to walk and how deep the fescue is.  Has that been mentioned yet?
It's a good thing golfers are such finely tuned athletes or they'd be dropping like flies out they.  Can you imagine lugging that golf bag...oh that's right, they just have to lug themselves.  Can you imagine strolling through the manicured fairways and fescue like these guys do?  They're machines I tell you!

Shaping up to be a great Open. Really glad to see all the low scores so the whole narrative of an unfair course won't be an issue this year. Awesome round by Fowler and will be interesting to see if he can keep it up.

BYEONG IS EVEN THRU 9!

Can we go back to the traditional courses where half the field isn't under par or even?  The local muni goat path would play tougher than this course.

Even with all the low scores, there were tons of guys trying to hack it out of the tall grass. I mean fescue.

I think the course is still challenging enough if the wind picks up.

Maybe so.  I get the desire for change but a course in America needs to have some trees.

Generally agree, but for this particular plot of land, the whole links vibe they were going for and the scenic views that would've been blocked by those trees, I think they did a great job.

Bottom line for me is that everyone is playing with the same conditions, so I just hate any whining about the course. Except maybe at Chambers Bay, if the greens were truly as bumpy and unpredictable as they were saying, I get the frustration.

I read that story linked in the OP about how this course came to be and I just think it's awesome, so I'm biased. I'm more into this US Open than I have been in years and think it's going to be a great weekend. And if that wind picks up, we'll definitely see the higher scores.

They are going to set the course up as hard as it gets tomorrow.  The course took a beating for being a US Open track.  It will be pain tomorrow.   I bet -8 leads at the end of the day tomorrow.

And Fowler is steadily creeping into the top 3 of "guys I'd actually legitimately trade places with if somehow that option became real."

With a bag and clubs like this.
Was thinking more like a bag with two different stock oversized drivers - along with obnoxious head covers, giant cavity backed irons, and a trendy putter with a nickname.

I haven't been able to watch at all today. But looking at the leader board it appears to be playing a bit tougher today. For those that are watching, is that the case?
