2018 NHL Thread: Cappy is happy while the rest of us pray to the ping pong gods for Tuesday night (2 Viewers)

I watched Bruins/Oil OT today and against one of the best teams in the league, McJesus looked like a man among boys. I can’t believe how good he is. 

 
So it appears all four contestants made 6 shots into the little hole thingy from center ice at the hawks game.

Avalanche with a win in Carolina - back to back wins for Gruebauer and Landeskog with 5 goals in those 2 games with 2 today and a hatty in NJ. The other night NHL network had top 5 lines in the league and the MacKinnon line wasn't on it    :loco:  - they have 16 points in last 2 games. 

BTW - Aho looks good - Svechnikov started strong but disappeared later. Hurricanes put 44 shots on goal - they could be strong darkhorse in the east.

Wow!  Thanks so much.  That sounds great.  Can't thank you enough.  PM sent.  Cav you're welcome to go as he got 4 tickets and I only need 2.  (BTW, I'm a pens fan, my son is a carolina fan.)  Now I just need to confirm my son can get off at work.  He started full time as an EMT for a local ambulance company 2 weeks ago.

BTW, looking at tickets for 12/23 in section 105 row c, this is on the glass behind the players bench.  Thoughts on these seats?  They are pricey, but he would be thrilled to sit here for one game.

105 not worth the extra from 106 imo.  106, 107 are plenty fine.  this is the side the visitors shoot twice fyi.

For both game there will be a huge number of opposing fans.  Buffalo fans are the worst, but Pens and Bruins are up there and I am from the Pittsburgh area, most my family is still there.  

Sitting on the glass or close is cool but it does obstruct your view of the entire ice.  

I will definitely meet up with you guys.  Either just to give you all the Canes stuff and maybe take you to dinner before the game and possibly go to the game too.  

The Pit has great Carolina BBQ and is near the Marriott.  I ton of other options too.  X you game?

How big is your ride?  There is a lot of stuff.   I can bring it all or just have you pick through it at my house when you are here.  There is much stuff that wouldn't ship well so glad we can avoid that.  

Anyway I will do my best to help you guys and ensure you have a great time and things go smooth.  If I go to the game, I will pick you guys up and drive you.

This all sounds great!  I drive an Accord.  You have that much stuff it won't fit with only 2 of us in the car?  Holy ####.  

Carolina BBQ sounds excellent.  Meeting up on Friday before the game sounds great as we are going to spend Thursday night at my BIL's in DC.  So we only have ~4 hours left to drive and will be leaving plenty early.

Never have experienced such a letdown as just now.  Went from watching #9 hoisted to the rafters to seeing the Sabres take the ice.  Sorry rude.

I think with Xs tickets you get the tunnel experience.  In between the 2nd and 3rd period you get to go in the tunnel as they walk out.  You have to have Canes or neutral gear on fyi.  I didn't do it when me and X went but the people with us did, fyi.

My son will definitely be up for that.  He'll be wearing his Francis Jersey he got from you for sure.  I'm sure he'll wear his Whalers one for Friday.  I don't think I'm going to tell him and let it be a surprise.  This is going to be a weekend he'll never forget.

The NHL says they only started tracking shots by period about 20 years ago. That seems weird.

I seem to remember it being widely available in newspaper box scores/summaries back in the '70s and '80s.

It would not surprise me at all if they had number 1 and took some kid in the Swedish third division. It appears that their head scouts hate North America. Got lucky with the Miller pick. I think he can be good

Hugh Jessiman in the middle of that 2003 draft is just mind-bending.

 
Great game by the Lightning last night in Denver. 1-0 playoff tight game. Kept the high powered MacKinnon line off the scoresheet. Although they did score a goal that was called offside when Tyson Jost lifted his foot entering the zone too soon and negated a Landeskog goal. Tyson Jost sucks - time to send him to the AHL for a while.

Hedman and McDonough were beasts. Great work by Cooper to get them on ice at right times in an away game. Vasilevskiy was a stone wall.

Avs really only have one line and it showed last night how bad they need a second line. Defense has really stepped it up and Varly was fantastic in the net. Avs will be on the lookout for more scoring somewhere. They have several chips will they spend them or wait.

Avs will reappear on Wednesday night hockey on NBCSN next week against Preds - should be a good one to measure if the Avs can take on the big boys in the league.

Great game. Avs are so fast. Would take a cup final with those two. 

Bolts look good. I wish we could just fast forward to May.

While you can always use more defensemen - the Avs D has been pretty good. If they picked up Faulk - maybe Barrie goes. They have Makar coming soon and Timmons as well - it's not like the dregs of a few years ago with that sad D.

They need some scorers for a 2nd line at this point. Huberdeau would be a nice get maybe. Varly and Jost and maybe a 3rd to the Panthers

I don't for this season. I think with the way of the salary cap world, this season while they have Gardiner and eventually Nylander might actually be one of the best shots they get. I think I'd take my chances with the roster on hand and some deadline tweaks before they enter cap hell. I also don't know if you're getting any where near a difference maker or equivalent value. If the Jets want to trade Trouba for him, then sure but more likely you're dealing him for Justin Faulk or someone and that doesn't really do it for me.

Long term, they may be forced into it. The defence is already an issue and I do think Gardiner is a goner after the season now. They'll have to find someone to fill 20+ minutes a night, run the 2nd power play, get them out of the zone. Right now it's pretty bleak beyond Rielly. 

I'm really curious to see how high Mitch Marner's contract goes. I don't see him as a $10 million player but there has been talk of that. I can see 8 and maybe he lands somewhere in the middle. But it all comes down to the market and comparables, etc... Matthews will set it on the high end, then there is an Laine/Aho/Rantanen/Marner block of RFA's next season. Does Sebastian Aho get $10 Million a season? He has to get more than Marner, right?
