2018 NHL Thread: Cappy is happy while the rest of us pray to the ping pong gods for Tuesday night (1 Viewer)

Rinne gets 2 year extension and a shutout on his birthday.

Still interesting going forward how they handle Saros and Rinne.  Working well right now to use Saros and keep Rinne fresh.

@helenenothelen: The Kings have relieved coach John Stevens and assistant coach Don Nachbaur of their duties. More changes to come from Kings in an announcement in about 30 minutes.

Death, taxes and ....

@charlieo_conn: Per Hextall, Neuvirth was sent back to Philly to be examined by team doctors. His saga continues.
@davegisaac: Brian Elliott is down in practice. Just got trucked by Travis Konecny. He’s holding his head.

Well, got an extra week of hope for the Canes this year, see ya next year.  But I am in the Xmas spirit so we all know silver and gold song....

Centers and goal

Centers and goal

For the last 8 years the Canes needed Center and Goal

@DownGoesBrown: That Senators' uber ride is a lot like their roster because it started off with five stars and now it's only one.

tough break for Q when he loaded up that team tough contracts, no farm, and moved Panarin for a back of pucks.  so I get it.

@johnborukNBCS: Longest tenured NHL head coaches..

1. Cooper - TB
2. Maurice - WPG
3. Laviolette - NASH
4. Hakstol - PHIL
5. McLellan - EDM
6. Babcock - TOR

The top 3 have all advanced to the Conference Finals at some point.

Only Hakstol and Babcock have yet to win a playoff series.

Assistants Kevin Dineen and Ulf Samuelsson were also fired. Have to think they'll turn up somewhere else soon too.

Kind of torn, changes needed to happen but sucks that it happened like this. I figured he had this season to make a run and if not he was gone along with the whole front office.

Q should have no problem getting a job.  In the meantime, I hope he does commentary on the league.

I think the Oilers should go after him - match made in heaven

This Blues team is terrible. I’m just not allowed to ever have anything nice.

I try not to fall into the standard ‘fire the coach’ crap fans like to get worked up in but I’m ready for Yeo to go if for no other reason than he can’t help himself to keep running Bouwmeester out there. Jordan Schmaltz deserves better.
looks like the same story with Yeo only trusting the vets when he has a talented young group that needs more leash?

Caps-Pens seldom disappoints. Oshie with the game-winner after getting knocked out of the game twice was some storybook business.

In nearly 38 years of following University of Denver Hockey I have never seen the Pioneers face a gauntlet like they are looking at in the next several  weeks

At #2 - St. Cloud State this week

#1 - and Defending National Champion - University of Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs - next week

#4 - and big favorite in Hockey East - Providence - over Thanksgiving

#11- and most hated foe - always a war - the Sioux of North Dakota - first week of December

Going to find out how good the young guys are - and how good the youngest coach in Div I, David Carle is running this team.

Get the job done Pios!

Should be a fun series with SCSU. Go Huskies! ?

I’m no Blackhawks fan but the push from behind looked pretty weak in that clip. Was it worse in different angles or full speed in the moment?
Yeah it didn't look good at full speed. Svechnikov had his back to him the whole time too, it wasn't like he turned into it. Seabrook also put the puck over the glass to take the penalty that led to the Canes first goal. Just watching the game, Seabrook stood out to me in not good ways.

I saw a guy start to turn the exact moment Seabrook gave him a shove. You can see Svechnikov's left foot change position almost the exact moment Brent is going to shove him into the boards from, what I would say is the side, not the back. That slight body twist caused it to be from behind moreso than from the side. This happens all the time, IMO and I don't really blame either guy. Just my :2cents:

Independent arbitrator just knocked 6 games off Wilson's suspension - he's back! Right when the Caps needed something to get them past their Cup hangover, especially on their putrid PK.

I know I'm probably kidding myself, but I hope Wilson finally learned his lesson and will just let his play do the talking from now on. He's gotten too good, and too important to the team, to take himself off the ice for stupid, unnecessary crap.

Getting a penalty on the same play he scores a goal on in his first game back from a suspension is peak Tom Wilson

Unfortunately  the Wings aren't terrible, they just aren't good.  They really could lose for Hughes and be a playoff team next year.
