2018 US Open - Shinnecock! (1 Viewer)

Mine keeps going back to the "The US Open coverage will continue in a bit........"
I watched a shot of the grandstands for two minutes while the other boxes "loaded."  Never saw one golf shot.

What are we calling the "native grasses" this year?  That stuff was dancing in the wind big time.  Blowing like it's from Key West out there.

@brianwacker1: With a crosswind and playing 520 yards up the hill, 14 will produce carnage. Of the 42 scores posted so far already 18 are bogey or worse. Hole is playing to a 4.5+ average and not yet 11 am!

What a trainwreck.  Going to be so great to watch.  I love watching the best players struggle.

But I do prefer the winner of the US Open to be about 4-7 under par.  The way the course is playing, that's going to be a tall order.

FS1 has a pretty good app and stream so far.  US Open app kept getting slowed up.  Dealing with Joe Buck, oh well.

Course looks great so far, went there in 94 and was standing behind Corey Pavin's when he launched his 4 wood on 18.. I love this course.

Some of these green, holy cow. I was in bed (west coast) watching a bit ago and Kuch just ripped at a 20' put. It took off like it was going to leave the green airborne. Short.

Anyway, this is fun and as well as Tiger did at the Honda, I think this may work out okay for him.

Amazing what a little wind can do.  Exactly what the USGA wanted and a shame they didn't get any at Erin Hills last year.  McIlroy, Day, Speith, Phil, Bubba all struggling.

the one Major where i took Day in the pool, and overweight on him for DFS.  :wall:

he's soon closing in on "never again" status.

Is it really that much fun to scream something after a tee shot? Do you DVR the round and then play it back listening for your bellow?

The run off on the back of all these greens is absolutely crazy.....we now have false fronts and false backs....these guys are having to hit a postage stamp to keep it on the green....saw one shot that damn near went in on the fly with a short iron, checked, and then still fed all the way back and down a huge lope...think it was Sergio...and I hate Sergio..

The one thing I didn't miss about Tiger being away from the game was actually seeing other players besides him hit shots.

Henley just hit a sweet ### shot....no wait....it missed by a 6 inches or so and now its down the slope on the back....kinda crazy in my mind....got to give it to the guys that were able to maybe run it up and keep it on....anything that hits the green in the air on some of these shots has no chance....”fringe” must now be a no no for some freakin reason.....what used to be the fringe is like cut shorter then the greens...

Original design was smaller greens...Crenshaw and the other guy who renovated the course a few years ago enlarged the greens, but accentuated the run offs.
