2019-2020 NHL Season Thread (8 Viewers)

The Score app has a contest to predict the top 10 selections.

How bad am I going to do? :D

  1. Alexis Lafrenière
  2. Quinton Byfield
  3. Tim Stutzle
  4. Marco Rossi
  5. Jamie Drysdale
  6. Lucas Raymond
  7. Cole Perfetti
  8. Jake Sanderson
  9. Yaroslav Askarov
  10. Anton Lundell
(I hope) Sanderson only goes 8th if the Sabres trade the pick. I'd go Alex Holtz if the rest of the picks stayed the same here.

well I hope you’re wrong on the Wild pick...unless that’s not them because they moved up :)

Different reports that Matt Murray refuses to take a "flat cap discount" and wants either a 1 year deal to UFA or a long term fully loaded deal (7x7 ????).

Looks like his trade value is plummeting and maybe heading to arb??

@FriedgeHNIC: Hearing CHI/PIT had Matt Murray conversations and the Blackhawks had permission to discuss an extension. Things did not work out, so everyone continues examining their options.

I definitely think he is just a tad overrated because he has a cool name that lends itself to an anagram.

@DarrenDreger: We’ll see if progress is made today in the Arizona-OEL trade stalemate. A good amount of internal discussions between the Coyotes and OEL camp yesterday, but as of late last night no deal in place with Vancouver or Boston. Seems to be a waiting game.

I can't believe he's still only 26 and an RFA.  feels like he's already been through an entire career cycle in 5 years.

Pronman has

2. Stutzle

3. Byfield

4. perfetti

5. Sanderson

6. Raymond

7. Drysdale

8. Quinn

9. Rossi

10. Holtz

He says Sabres at 8 looking at Quinn or Rossi. As for the Wild he says

If Rossi goes higher, I could see Askarov or Swedish winger Alexander Holtz here.

@DarrenDreger: Tyler Johnson has given the Tampa Bay Lightning several teams to work with in the quest for trade. Sources say the list includes a mix of teams league wide. Good communication between Lightning GM, Julien BriseBois and the Johnson camp.

There is no way the Ducks pass on Drysdale

I hope the Kings don't pass on Byfield.  From everything I have read it is down to Stutzle and Byfield as the choice and I think Byfield has a much higher ceiling.

This makes me sad.

It's a shame he cant go home to Seattle.

I've seen 5 of those top ten a ton in the OHL (Byfield, Perfetti, Rossi, Quinn, Drysdale) and I may be biased by how flashy he is but I think Jamie Drysdale could be the best of all of them.

Rangers beat writers keep indicating they are looking to move the 22 and possibly d’angelo, buchnevich, strome combos for a centre 2.

@FriedgeHNIC: Word it appears as if Tyler Toffoli will hit market due to VAN’s tight cap situation. Another scorer available in free agency

a lot to yield for an RFA a year away from UFA coming off shoulder surgery.  you make this deal knowing JA will sign a deal IMO.
Not sure why a 3rd was needed but Domi was not very good all year. Habs get bigger which is what they need. Hope he's healthy!

Rumor of Stamkos to Rangers for 50% cap retention and #22.....
even with 50% retained, NYR would have an issue without moving out more salary.

Article today mentioned they don't have room for bonus overages

@AntSanPhilly: I know there's been a lot of buzz around the @NHLFlyers and possible trading for Patrik Laine. Here's what I can say that I know:
1. There was legit conversation (more than tire-kicking).
2. Things cooled, b/c of price but aren't over.
3. Surprise names could be part of a deal.

They'd probably send out Strome for a pick if they're getting a center elsewhere.

I don't see it either way.

Byfield groomed by Kopitar for a few years seems pretty good.

Byfield is massive upside but still raw imo. A few better "now" players than him in the draft but the potential is off the charts.

now missed at least 6 in a row

Yep, realistically 2 years in the KHL then bring him over. The Leafs are a really young team though.
Canes are young too but 2 years, not so young.  But that is who I would like the Canes to get but it's rough.  Do Canes elevate the goalies they piece mail together and a good one is the difference or are people playing for a contract evelate their play?  Darling didn't but Mac, Reimer and Mraz, all done well.

@charlieo_conn: Holtz is gonna be good. But I think the Flyers are lucky that Marco Rossi isn't going to New Jersey.
