2020-21 NBA *Playoffs* Thread: Bucks are the champs and you can take that to the bank bromigos (3 Viewers)

Not sure if correct, maybe someone else read it but when Tucker and Durant were face-to-face the guy who went onto the floor and pushed Tucker was Durant's personal bodyguard?  If accurate I would think the NBA would do something about a personal bodyguard running onto the court.
So that is who that was. I would think they wouldn't let his body guards near the court again. If it happens again I think they would suspend Durant.

Durant is such a great player, but he is as unlikable as they come. Do all players bring in their personal body guards to an arena already loaded with security?

If true.

This is probably the most interesting story coming from that game.  The security guy seemed to be intentionally barging into Tucker, protecting Durant.  The initial assumption was that he works for the local venue - the Bucks/Fiserv venue.  If this was Durant's personal goon running onto the Court?  That is some BS man.

Has any player suffered as much damage to his likability than Durant since he left OKC?  Maybe Kyrie?

It seemed so odd in real time that a security guard would rush the court in a situation like that.

i'd think that all the guys who can afford a personal security detail take them everywhere, but especially to games where there are thousands of potential threats in close proximity.

Bucks lose on 6-30 from three when they are (generally) excellent from three:  team is trash. they don't have a chance.

Nets lose on poor shooting:  that won't happen again. they aren't this bad.
*clears throat*

Don’t think we can count on the Bucks to shoot 20% from deep all series so I’d say they’re still the favorites, but I was pleasantly surprised at how well Brooklyn played without Harden. Griffin in particular was awesome after being a straight-up liability against Boston.

Apparently this was reported by The Athletic -- https://theathletic.com/2645987/2021/06/11/mike-budenholzers-job-survived-certain-death-after-an-ugly-game-3-against-the-nets-game-4-should-be-special/?source=emp_shared_article

At one point, with less than five minutes left in the third quarter, Durant and P.J. Tucker were nose to nose, speaking heatedly, as though they were upset. Durant’s personal bodyguard, who is on the Nets’ payroll, charged the court to break them up, and shoved Tucker. The Bucks’ crowd, at full capacity for the first time this season, serenaded Kevin with “f— KD” chants.
Not a great look for the Nets, I figured he was some mercenary goon hired by Durant himself.

Jayrod said:
I'd agree with him not being a max guy, but he has been the best 3 & D guy in the league this season.  Part of that comes with ease of being the 4th option offensively and playing with CP3 and Booker, but he did his job very, very well all year and is continuing that in the playoffs (although his 3pt% has been down in the playoffs a bit).

This season, he was #3 in the NBA in O-rating, #5 in TS% and eFG% & #14 in total winshares.  Statistically, he was one of the most efficient players in the league while playing in all 72 games.  He even had a career low in turnovers with a career high in usage.  Guy is a difference maker and will probably get paid like it, especially if the Suns make the Finals.
Crazy.  I don't look up much stats anymore, but Bridges always stood out to me when I watched him play. If Oubre got the max, Bridges will easily get it.

I think Lana Rhoades saying she went on a date with KD and left cause he was up there.

Nets played lousy and were lucky to be in it late....1st time I saw Nash's weakness as HC....have to get the ball to KD those last 2 shots before the hail mary....plus how was there not a time out on the throw in flub at the end....poor job by Nash IMO.....next game is huge.

Not that I see them doing it, but could the Bucks treat this guy similar to how negative fan interactions happened in NY or Utah and ban the guy for ever?

If you guys don’t understand why somebody like Durant would need a bodyguard nearby at all times you haven’t been paying attention. There are a lot of legit psychos out there.

my bodyguard has just physically converted herself to nano particles - a painful process to watch - in order to electronically get between me and your carotid artery because this post has made me feel unsafe

I get that part. I don't understand why he felt the need to interject himself in an on court altercation. There's no really threat of mortal injury there.

I understand the need in certain places. At an NBA arena with that many police and security guards then I don't understand.

I understand why Durant has a bodyguard. I don't understand why said bodyguard is allowed to rush the court and shove one of the two players bulldogging each other without some serious ####### repercussions.

It was garden variety handbags - something that happens multiple times a game.  PJ and Durant were teammates at Texas and  are good friends.  If truly a private bodyguard, the guy should be banned and sent home.

I see the need, just on the court during a game.
I mean yea he shouldn’t have rushed the court but somebody up thread was asking why was he there at all in a arena with security. Like 8 things have happened since they let fans back in. Security ain’t doing anything.

Couldn’t really disagree more. Not saying Durant’s security could stop an attack or bottle throwing incident but it’s his job to care at least.

I'm fascinated by this bodyguard thing.  How good of an NBA player do you need to be before you get one?  Do guys like Jokic or Dame have one or is it just the top few stars like LeBron and KD?

it's gonna be a chore to enjoy the whiny scramble NBA basketball has become after watching perhaps the greatest display of precision, discipline & esprit in sports history going on right now @ Stade Roland Garros

These titans of their game are spinning an epic match.

My over under is 10 full time nba bodyguards (active players only)

Since I only watched the last few minutes, I had missed the Tucker/Durant altercation and bodyguard incident.

Dude came in hot and physically knocked Tucker out from in front of Durant.  If Tucker was throwing haymakers I could maybe see a need for him to rush the court, but they were literally just standing there nose to nose and Durant was giving as much as he was getting.

Way out of line and guy needs to be banned from the arena and should probably lose his job.  Imagine it was an assistant coach or team trainer that did that?  Just because his title is "bodyguard" doesn't mean he has any right to be on the court and making physical contact with anybody.  Seems pretty clear cut and inexcusable, IMO.

Supposedly he's on the Nets' payroll.

That doesn't matter.

They wouldn't let an assistant coach or team trainer get away with that.  Why does some random security guy get to do it?  Just because his title is "bodyguard"?
I agree.

I think it's even worse because of who employs him.

Reportedly.

this clip has 2 different angles

Woman they interviewed on Cowherd today was at the arena and she claimed the bodyguard had been shoved in the back. It does kind of look like the body guard is just trying to separate Durant from Tucker, then the other official (in blue shirt) rushes in and pushes bodyguard who turns around ready to defend. Rather than the initial report that bodyguard was doing the shoving. But yeah still, body guard shouldn't have entered the court.

Kind of changing the subject, but after  watching that clip I believe Tucker would have destroyed Durant. I don't think Durant wants any part of that fight.

Dude gave up his NBA front office job so he’d have the freedom to post more stuff like this. :lmao:  Absolute legend.

Earvin Magic Johnson @MagicJohnson

The Milwaukee Bucks were led by their two stars last night, Khris Middleton and Giannis Antetokounmpo, in their win over the Brooklyn Nets 86-83.
