2020-21 NBA *Playoffs* Thread: Bucks are the champs and you can take that to the bank bromigos (2 Viewers)

tough times,  no NHL, NBA day off.   wtf do i do?
Go out to dinner with your wife, her friend and her friends new boyfriend, want to poke your eyes out with a fork as you sit listening to him for 2 hours while you drink a bottle of wine then switch to scotch when they order dessert, pour your drunk wife into bed, hit the pipe to take the edge off, more scotch do the laundry then watch crappy tv until 2.

FIBA 19 WC is going in Riga, should be streaming live on Youtube.

Victor Wembanyama kid from France is legit.  Won't be eligible for the draft until '23 but, IMO, his floor on the defensive end is Gobert and his offensive game will be much better.  They played an entertaining game against Lithuania yesterday in the quarters.  Lithuania pretty scrappy with Augustus Marciulonis who will be a frosh at St. Mary's in the fall.

ESPN saying GA is shooting 15 for 62 from 3 in the playoffs

nobody with the nerve to tell him to stop
It's funny that Simmons gets crushed for not taking 3s at all when they leave him open because it bogs down the offense, and Giannis is getting criticized as being uncoachable for taking a few per game.

It's because Giannis isn't afraid/plays so well inside.  Much much better than shooting 3s.

Simmons inside game, well, is the opposite of that.

Gonna be a lot of England losers chasing with the Bucks tonight, methinks.  Monday's payday, could be more tears ahead, poor fellas.

(Sorry, I can't get over the guy at the bar in tears after the soccer match, GF consoling him.)

Does anyone else find it odd that Giannis needs to rest after 5 minutes?

I know he plays with a lot of energy, but....
He took himself out at the 8:30 mark after being pulled down on the and 1 offensive rebound. Maybe he felt something in his knre after that foul.

Giannis imposed his will tonight in game 3, another great effort by him.  Without Ayton for big minutes, the Suns just don't have enough inside.  Thought the zone by the Suns was a nice wrinkle, but that's a lot of offensive rebounding opportunities for a team already hunting them.  Holiday's shooting and the energy from Portis was huge for the Bucks.

Going to assume Booker and Paul will come out very aggressive to start game 4.  They can't sit back and feel it out or this series will be back in Phoenix tied up.  I'd be shocked if game 4 isn't an absolute dog fight.

For anyone who cares, US comes from behind and holds off France to win by two. Wembanyama went for 22/8 with 8 blocks. He'll still be 17 at the end of the year. 7'3, mobile with three point range.

I assumed he was Sarunas's kid, and a quick Google search confirmed that.

I'm not that old (only 44), but man, it sure makes me feel old when I start seeing all the kids of the guys that I watched growing up.  It's really happening a lot now in baseball (Vlad Guerrero, Tatis, etc.).  For some stupid reason that I still can't really articulate, my favorite player growing up was Delino DeShields.  His son's MLB career has pretty much come and gone already, and his daughter plays in the WNBA. Sheesh.

As A warrior fan, Sarunas was one of the few bright spots my 30 years of Fandom before this current run.

Also thought the doughy kid for the USA, Kenneth Lofton Jr., might be a second generation athlete but he's not.

Yea not looking good. I didn’t realize they were also bringing in 3 guys playing in the finals. So these dudes are going to play a 6/7 game series, fly to Japan, and then play with a bunch of guys they’ve never played with? Seems like a disaster in the making.

Still rooting for them and optimistic, they're still the favorites, but man. Energy levels and competitiveness on the Coach K teams and the Pop teams have just been night and day.  Hopefully it's just guys being rusty and still finding the right rotations.

Speaking of Team USA, when they lost to Nigeria I was pretty shocked (and still am) but I just finally looked up their roster and that team is "loaded" compared to what I expected. KZ Okpala, Precious Achiuwa, Gabe Vincent, Josh Okogie, Ekpe Udoh, Chimenzie Metu, and Miye Oni are all on NBA rosters and are all young enough to take these kind of games seriously. Plus they have Michael Gbinije ( @scoobus).  Might have to throw a bet on them to medal.
