So I haven't followed the Clips at all. Kennard had a decent contract year and they paid him I believe near/more than what Christian Wood got if memory serves correct.
Is he not even in the rotation?

The Clippers are so dislikable. It's kind of astounding. This Mavs team is so reminiscent of 2011:
- One key star
- fantastic role players who know their job
- a SG who isn't afraid to just let it fly
- Size at every position
- a super calm PG to run things when needed
- multiple wing stoppers on D

Also love that multiple guys on the Mavs have subtly been like "we all got vaccinated as soon as we could and that's a big part of how well we've gelled" and throw shade at the morons turning it down.

Yeah he and Wood essentially got the same deal, 3/41 — although Kennard has a fourth year $15MM team option if the Clips would like to hang onto him longer!So I haven't followed the Clips at all. Also can’t forget that they traded for the privilege of paying Luke Kennard $41 million, in that 3 way deal that sent Shamet to the Nets, Saddiq Bey to the Pistons, and Kennard to LA. Detroit seems to have won that trade handily.

right before tip, the cameras showed him trying to pull his warm-up shirt off. he couldn't lift his right arm. had to have someone help him get the shirt off.

But in all seriousness, the Mavs just look like the more talented and cohesive overall team right now. Clippers got to try something different here. They aren't going to get much more from Leonard/George. They've got to get more from other pieces and best chance of that is through Rondo.

I'd agree except he'd have to leave S Cali. I assume the Knicks would give him the max, but would he want it (and while the Knicks may flame out in 4, the season is a success if that statement isn't treated as outlandish).

man if Knicks can get Kawhi for a few seasons that would really be something. Nets, Bucks, 6'ers and Knicks would just be head and shoulders above everybody else in the East. and you would have Hawks, Charlotte, and maybe Bulls or Wizards nipping at heels for sometime

I can't recall specifics but I think the Bam contract might prevent them from offering big/max money. I just seem to recall the timing (giving Bam extension now vs. waiting) was a factor when they were linked to Giannis.

somebody in The Valley has gotta look at some old tape of how good he was on LeBron when they were in the East and take him off the Brow, tho. best i ever seen on LBJ when he was in Green.

We'll see, Miami would essentially have to do a sign and trade with two of (if not all 3) Robinson, Nunn, and/or Herro to have enough room to get him in.

They have around $72M on the books next season if they rescind all bird rights (VO $31M, Ariza $16M, Bjelica $13M, Nunn and Robinson $4M...) and decline all team options (Dragic $19.4M, Iggy $15M)

fwiw, Duncan has them at roughly 20 million in room with the holds for Robinson and Nunn. They can get to 30 million fairly easily by renouncing those two, but that other 9 they need is trickier.
Coincidentally, Dallas is the other team that can easily make something happen either straightup or with a SnT with Porzingis.

I think the fact that he is on a player option will give him substantial leverage in determining where he goes. Miami can make the salaries work in a trade with a number of combinations, it will just matter what LAC will try and squeeze out of them and what they are willing to swallow.
I think rescinding low Bird numbers like Robinson and Nunn is almost always a big mistake if the player has any value.

Both are solid/well above average IMO NBA role players. Duncan loss would be huge for the Heat. Hard to imagine him getting less than Joe Harris did with Brooklyn.
JMO Herros always been the key IMO to landing a star. He's going to blossom into All Star outside Miami if they deal him. I think they'd have their pick of a star if they made Herro available.
I'll be honest I don't think Kahwi-Jimmy-Bam wins a title unless they have a Duncan Robinson +. Obviously you take him if can get him but his fit there is far from a championship lock

The Knicks aren’t the anti-Nets, they’re the ‘18-‘19 Nets. And I’m guessing they’d love to use this surprising success to attract some big names, just as Brooklyn did.

A few years ago there were a handful of Nets fans who insisted that Marks should max out DLo instead of going after Kyrie/KD because they wanted to “preserve the character of the team” and “continue the organic rebuild.” I’m glad the front office had higher aspirations than a first-round playoff exit.

It is because no big names would sign with them. They tried and unless you are the 04 Pistons you can't take a bunch of castoffs and retreads and win anything.

I watched the entire first half and turned it off. Some of the worst basketball I've ever seen them play under Stevens. They did almost nothing well, especially defense. How they lost track of Joe Harris so many times is completely baffling to me. There were 2 plays were I was screaming "get out on Harris!" and sure enough, he would get the ball on the 3-pt line wide open. Horrible transition defense, rotations and communication on switches. It was like they'd never played together before.watching between Celts. Sox & Tyson special. it's going about as i expected. a stat comes up halfway thru Q2 - Celts, 1 asst in 20 mins. all you need to know. didnt watch another moment

i watched an episode of moonshiners last night and that is basically the worst show on tv because it is so stupid and fake and the fat guy from that show and the guy named tinkle yes they have a guy named tinkle would have played better d than the celtics did last night take that to the bank bromigo

I still think Stevens is a top 5 coach in the league, but the message can get stale especially being delivered by the same person. It would be best for both parties to move on after this year.
I say would be best because the lack of effort and awareness right now. No one is going to blame them for getting beat by the Nets, but they aren't making an effort. Remember that team like 4ish years ago that went to the conference finals after Kyrie went down and Hayward was out for thr year? This doesn't even look like the same team.
I think they need to move on from Marcus Smart. He is a good defender but is a big liability on offense.

They need to trade Stevens to Indy for Turner, swap Brown for Beal & hire several Van Gundys (Gundies?) so nothing will ever change.
ETA: if that dont work, they can trade Tatum to OK for all the draft booty they got off everyone else so Traitor Danny can play Hide the Salam with teams about first round pix & brag to Boston media how close he got to the perfect trade til God pulls him upstairs by his religious underwear

He's actually been good on offense so far in the first two games. I think he is just checked out and ready for the offseason. In prior years, he would have been all over his teammates about their lack effort last night, but he wasn't leading them at either end in any way that I could see.
