2020-21 NBA *Playoffs* Thread: Bucks are the champs and you can take that to the bank bromigos (1 Viewer)

The game felt like Game 1 of the 2018 Finals where LeBron James with Cleveland put it all out there, but it just wasn't enough against Golden State.  That was Giannis tonight.  Guess that makes Devin Booker Steph Curry or Kevin Durant this evening.

The NBA needed this to be the healthy Nets.
I would have loved to see a healthy Suns team against a healthy Hawks team. Trae vs CP3, Booker against Reddish/deandre hunter, Capella vs Ayton, Collins vs crowder or bridges,  and you’d still have guys like bogdanovic, Lou Williams, Cameron Payne and others.  I think Milwaukee will win a game or 2 so they aren’t dead yet.

The silver lining for Milwaukee is that Giannis looks like MVP Giannis again--pretty incredible recovery from that injury. Winning 4 out of the next 5 is still a tall order though.

Felt like they got road cooking tonight.

Bucks should get at least 1 in Milwaukee.
The Bucks did get some major road cooking tonight. The free throw disparity was huge until the end of the game when the Bucks were purposely taking fouls.  There was a period where Giannis was getting gifted the benefit of some very questionable foul calls.

Bucks were doing well against the Suns' screen game at the start.

Seemed to fall back to not making the effort much after that.

The lack of effort is what kills me. I can handle a bad shooting night. It happens. But giving them all those second-chance points because you were too lazy to box out and/or chase down a loose ball?  Man…hard for me to understand given what’s on the line.

I didn’t see much of anything that was questionable tonight. Every time Giannis got the ball in the paint they were basically bear-hugging the guy.

Within a 5 minute span—he stepped on Bridges foot—and somehow Bridges got called for a foul, and he ran into a stationary Ayton and got the benefit of a block call versus a charge.  The only reason the Suns didn’t challenge is because neither guy was in foul trouble and Giannis isn’t a great free throw shooter.

Rocked my Campaign jersey at the game tonight. Got many compliments :lmao:  2 more wins and I buy a ChamPayne jersey.

Remarkable how much Ayton's improved defensively this year. Big men are slow developing and it's an increasing perimeter driven league but he's made a lot of money this postseason. He's very often throughout his career has looked like JAG. He's really stepped up big time this postseason.

Bridges plays like this again, it's going to be a short series. Awesome complimentary player. Not a lot in the league better as one. His next contract is going to be very interesting.

Just crazy this team has went straight from Bubble Champs to NBA finals this quick.

Did I hear coach bud respond to the question of what to change on defense after the first qtr with "hopefully they start missing some shots"?

That's some high level #### right there
I caught that to. I feel about as bad for an opposing team as I can. I don't know much about the Bucks but they seem to have a major issue with coaching. I am not sure how they made it this far. I am guessing they never would have gotten past a healthy Brooklyn team.

I also do not think it's fair that the media is showing the coaches pregame talks. In my opinion that should be for the team only.

The whole mcd up thing should also go away.

Part of the agreement with the nba and the networks. Coaches know they are there and that kind if access is very much paid for.

Sounds about right.  Dude should be fired regardless of who wins this series.  He's a dunce.

They've only showed the last few seconds from the locker room talks. He's not going to say anything important or meaningful when the cameras are live.

I thought that was a perfect answer. The in-game on-court interviews are a charade, and any self-respecting coach should treat them with total, open disdain.  In the end, the Suns were 20-40 on 3s and the Bucks were 9-31, a 33 point disparity, so he kind of hit the nail on the head.  The only better response would have been if he'd added, "... and we start making some shots."

Yeah, pretty sure every coach in the league has given the same canned answer in the quarter break.  A lot of whining about Bud and the refs.  The Bucks are just getting exposed as a poorly built team.

The suns have definitely played better.

How are the bucks a poorly built team when they made the finals.  Sure there have been injuries all over the nba but that’s part of the game.

bucks lost divecenzo (an important piece) the entire playoffs and lost Giannis for a couple games.

not watching the Finals, but look-ins during breaks from other viewing showed me Anteaternintendo nursing the knee and the Bucks still without post plays to accommodate his need to save wear&tear. unconscionably stoopit -

In Budenholzer's three seasons, they finished 1st, 1st, 3rd in the conference and are now playing in an NBA finals. I don't pretend to understand NBA coaching, so I can only judge based on results.  I see a ton of media people and online professional basketball coaching experts explaining how dumb coach Bud is, but I'm not sure how much more they can expect.  I don't think any of his Bucks teams were so dominant they should have won the NBA but for poor coaching.  Losing to Toronto in the ECF his first season was disappointing, but they went on to beat the Warriors in the finals in 6 games and Bud won the NBA Coach of the year award.  Last season was tough losing to the Heat in the bubble, but they also beat the Celtics and played in the finals that year.  This season the Bucks have had a bit of luck in the playoffs with injuries to their opponents, but they've won some impressive series and I would say the coach has gotten about everything out of this team that they have in them.

How does one explain this other than 1) lack of practice/preparation or 2) it's mental?
I think it's mostly mental. He was a pretty average FT shooter a few years ago and then he had some bad misses in the 2019 conference finals as Milwaukee lost a 2-0 lead. His FT% dropped 10 points the following season.

I was going to step aside until Sunday and let the experts chat it up but oh man, the new subtitle.  :lmao:   :lmao:   :lmao:

First thing I thought of when I saw that one clown leaning in to the camera, sideways, with tatt'd arms wide open and his headband was, oh the FFA is going to love this.

Second thing I thought was meth.

I am appalled by the lack of Sixers and Ben Simmons talk in here.

I saw what has to be the WORST trade idea from anyone in the media.  There is literally ZERO percent chance of this:

MAGIC receive:  Simmons.

SIXERs receive:  Fultz, Ross, Bamba, #5 pick.

Neither team would do that trade.  Suggested by Greg Patuto of the NBA Analysis Network . . . .
