What I've just learned about myself is that, aside from Simone Biles, I still can't get geeked about watching gymnastics.

There's a doc series on Peacock about some of the young women and their qualifying process. One of the featured people makes the team...was kind of interesting, and certainly out us more in the mood for it.

Is Simone's degree of difficulty so high that she doesn't even have to execute anymore? She was terrible in the USA finals, and man she was off again today.  Can't stick a landing to save her life.  Maybe it's all nerves with the pressure that comes with being the GOAT, but she hasn't performed well in a month.  I predicted she wouldn't do well in the Olympics.  Just can't turn it on and off.  But maybe she's that far in front of everyone else.  BTW - Jade got robbed on that last routine - should have been in the All Around.  12 something? Can’t say I know much about skateboarding, but they were amazing to me.  Sure, lots of falls, but seemed like it was because they were balls out going for it.  Those two 13-year-olds were insane.

Were any of the women skateboarders wearing helmets and/or pads? None of the men were and it really caught me by surprise. I know it’s not the half pipe but it still seems like you could take a nasty fall or two

That’s what I thought. Saw a (I don’t know the exact term) rail-grind-thingy scored a 5.01 but the exact same trick with a kick flip added was a 4.9 iirc.
