2021 College football thread - Auburn’s gotta Auburn. (1 Viewer)

Hate that targeting call on Penn State. Huge change in the game. If the QB stays in bounds to try and deliver a blow then all bets are off. Dude never left his feet or launched. I wish they’d take into account the way the offensive player moves/braces for contact, instead of easily going out of bounds.
Gus Johnson is correct on this one - NCAA targeting rule is terrible.

Wiscy playcalling is certainly something
Not a fan.  I like Chryst as a coach…but playcalling not so much.

And Mertz seems to just not be good.

And we never seem to be able to get past Penn State.  This will be something like 7 of the last 8 to PSU.

I heard this week Chryst in on something like a 1-10 run as a home favorite.  That's....ungood.  Didn't seem to make one adjustment at halftime today, or any time thereafter.

More on my annoyance with the Badger playcalling.

How many times did they bring in a tight formation…bring the defense into a box…and run right into it.

The jet motion over the years has been solid…it softens things up for the run.  The sweep worked several times…yet didn’t run the motion all that much until late.

Disappointing loss…need to see much more from Mertz though…since that big opening game last year he has been pretty meh.

Solid win by PSU. Defense looks great. Offense has some work to do but a lot of nice pieces. Good start to the season.

not only is Oregon tied with Fresno State but their best player is hurt

@BruceFeldmanCFB: Oregon star DE Kayvon Thibodeaux is on the sidelines in street clothes and wearing walking boot on his leg.

The U should give Bama that magic chain or whatever it is.

Me: This Miami defense looks legit. They're getting pressure with 4 and secondary is swarming

Also Me: Bama gonna put a fifty burger on them by the time it's over

Buckeyes going to hang half a hundred on the Ducks next week.  :kicksrock:

My guess on UF-FAU...

I think Gators struggle early but eventually cover the 24.5.  Like 17-7 at half becomes 45-14 final. I say that because Willie Taggart is a terrible head coach and awful defense is his trademark (along with too many penalties overall).

Bryce has a natural maturity and presence...reminds me of Russell Wilson. And Will Anderson is an absolute beast.

Alabama is obviously great…

But I was out doing chores so I put the game on Tunein, and I’ve been listening to the local homer Crimson Tide broadcast- man are they cocky. Just a bit ago the announcer, Eli Gold says, “The Miami broadcast is next door; wonder what they’re saying? (General laughter.)” A whole bunch of rubbing it in like that…

Seemed like Bama OL absorbed Miami defense best shot first 2 drives for 10 points and after the offense has left them on the field, Canes defense is spent.

More power to you, but it pisses me off that your team and Clemson have our two star quarterbacks from Mater Dei and St John Bosco, respectively, and neither UCLA or USC had the slightest chance at them. That seems wrong.

Lol @ swagger from the U. The scoreboard says otherwise

ETA: They should have a Pell Grant chain

Good point and the OL has a bunch of youth and question marks so that’s a good sign (for me!).

I’m sure, but it’s all about development and their future. I’m sure USC gets back there...tougher road for UCLA.

Lol @ 2 star

Exactly, SEC getting CA talent...looking forward to seeing the trend eventually reverse itself.

The state of Alabama doesn't come close to producing the talent CA does.

How do we put a hit on Saban?

Mountaineers are holding a lead against Maryland, which is cool. Also waiting for the Gator game this evening.

They see the SEC as the rocket sled to an NFL career. SC used to be in that class, but SEC has zoomed past everyone on this.

which of course is a potential mistake

Justin Herbert >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>. Tua

Presbyterian QB Ren Hefley has set an FCS record with 10 passing TDs in a single game. Previous record by MVSU's Willie Totten of 9 was set in 1984.

The Presbyterian No Punts won 84-43.

Leesiana ships State Troopers across state lines to escort O?  Is that typical of state schools?   Roscoe P Coltrain would certainly be flummoxed.

A lot of Southern schools do that. Pretty sure Bobby Bowden had designated state troopers escort him to away games.

Went to the Texas/Louisiana game. Longhorns looked good but ... its only one game. But good start for the Sarkisian era.

@BurnerLJohnson: Biggest part I’m gonna miss about these neutral site Atlanta games is definitely gonna be the convergence of Gumps and DragonCon folks. Absolute scene.

The Fox 4k feed is so good that I’m watching that mediocre game over Georgia - Clemson. ESPN has to get this figured out quick.
