2021 Final Week of the Regular Season IDP Info/Comments/News/Recommendations (2 Viewers)

I will start........Does anybody have confidence in rolling out Isaiah Simmons, Zaven Collins, or Hicks week #1?  Without really seeing anything specific in preseason I have no idea if I risk starting Simmons week 1.  Any thoughts?

After 4 weeks I guess we have our answer here.  Collins getting the same treatment that Simmons received last year.  Unplayable (and unrosterable in redraft) but a hold for dynasty.  Might even be worth trying to see if the owner will give him up for a lowball offer in dynasty (throw in on bigger deals for example).

So frustrating considering what they were saying when they drafted him.

What is Jaylon's value now? I'm a Notre Dame fan and chatting with his owner as I'm curious to throw out some kind of offer to see if he bites, but I'm not going to go crazy. I almost don't know where to start though and whether he's still any kind of top 10 dynasty LB consideration or not.

Quite the fall from grace. LB isn't that tough a spot to fill on a FF roster so I'm not sure I'd take a shot at him at all, but certainly wouldn't give more than a 4th round pick. Owners will likely hang on to him due to name value so he's most likely to stick on whatever roster he's on, at least until a landing spot is known.

I owned Smith in a couple of leagues. I tried to move him last week and got a 4th rd pick for him in one league and could not even get that in another league. So, I'm stuck with him.

It isn't fair to say he got paid then checked out, but his quality of play dipped significantly right after he got the big contract and has only continued to fall. If it is a legit narrative then I suppose there is Jamie Collins career arc potential - play him after a bad team signs him then trade him away before he falls out of favor. And maybe a younger version of that player is how he should be valued. If it's not a legit narrative and the guy just can't play run defense then it's over for our game's purposes. Subpackage guys aren't fantasy LB starters; they're waiver wire guys you pick up when you're backed into a corner.

Best case scenario right now is Jaylon signing with a very needy team (PHI / HOU / ???) where he can get a big snap count right away and maybe you can dump him. If the roster is deep enough, just hold and hope this cut is a wake up call - if it's a case of big-payday-checkout.

I had moved him from an orphan I picked up a few months ago and that trade looks ugly now. I moved Cunningham from the same team, too. Might not have many trade partners moving forward...

Had to go check on the DAL DC history. It certainly could be scheme changes having a negative impact, too. Jaylon was so good under Marinelli but 2020 and 2021 brought 2 new DCs. Da'Raiders have a bit of a LB carousel going on...

(no idea if it's Marinelli's scheme, though, since he's a DL coach, not DC)

Dallas is on their 3rd defensive scheme in 4 years.

Jaylon can't cover or blitz.

Sounds like it's Jaylon to GB per Rapoport. They're finalizing details. Hoping this doesn't affect Campbell's value.

Thought so too, apparently he is now weighing his options as other teams have thrown their hats in the ring.

ESPN was reporting it, no link, heard it on the radio. He has signed with Green Bay for sure now.

Jaylon Was cut this week during waivers in one of my 16 team leagues.I was pretty surprised, if I knew he was going to cut him, would have offered a late rookie pick.

Was  hoping he would not sign this week and I could quietly add him to my roster.

GB is a puzzling landing spot to me.  Maybe it's because of Barnes injuries and wanting someone to pair with Campbell.  I think they have been happy with Campbell so not sure how this is going to affect things.  It could also be that Smith is done and it won't really have any affect at all.

I don't think the Packers are signing him with any thoughts on reducing Campbell's role. Green Bay is usually good for one LB in our game, but no more. Sub packages and DB's reign supreme.

Speculation on my part, but Packers head coach Matt LaFleur was the QB coach at Notre Dame when Jaylen Brown was an All-american with the Domers.

When it comes to signings, I usually defer to these, in order: 1) money 2) player - coach/GM/system connections 3) opportunity for playing time 4) opportunity to win 5) home town (born, raised, college ball) 🤷‍♂️

I was watching the IDP Blitz on Youtube with Sigmund Bloom and Matt Schauf and Schauf was talking about in the box % and slot % for Safeties. Does anyone know where we can pull those stats?

I don't know of a free location.

If you're on twitter, John Macri and Tom Kislingbury give out good info on snap counts at each subposition.  @PFF_Macri takes requests on Sunday evening for immediate snap breakdowns:  https://twitter.com/PFF_Macri/status/1444853374223065091?s=20

Schauf and Bloom stream a weekly video about IDP? I'd no idea. Glad you posted...

David Long on all 5 of my teams. Started in none. He'll be in all lineups for week 6. Wanted you all to know ahead of time why he puts up a dud this coming weekend. 🤣

Same here.  Feels like one of those short windows of opportunity missed.  But, who knows... maybe he'll be relevant for a few more weeks.

To make matters worse, I benched Kevin Byard (and his 30+ points) in two leagues.  😫

Anybody have any insight as to what happened to Eric Wilson in PHI?  His snap count dropped by more than 50% this week, but I don't see any mention of injury.

I think it was a scheme situation or the Eagles coaching staff just want to play games.  Looks like Genard Avery and Davion Taylor got a significant increase in snaps.  Singleton also decreased his snap percentage from the week before.  It's definitely something to monitor going forward.

I really expected Ernest Jones to be a thing by now.

Jaylon  Smith--if you pick him up, you are really doing it based on college at this point. Cowboys cutting him is a big red flag.

D Campbell is the Brandin Cooks of LB, he produces everywhere he goes, and no one's ever really excited to have him.

He's been great for GB, I don't think Jaylon is taking his snaps.

Jaylon Smith wasn’t even picked up in our 10 team dynasty league.  I could drop Jerome Baker, but not sure if it’s an upgrade.

Interesting thoughts on Ernest Jones here. I rewatched the game and Kenny Young looks like he's toast. I believe he got benched for poor play and deservedly so. He looks like he doesn't want to be playing football when he's out there. They replaced him with Troy Reeder, who was great last year in a similar situation for IDP purposes. Jones didn't play snap last game, but are you hearing that the job might be his?

Agreed.  He's not taking Campbell's snaps.  I'm not even sure he's taking Barnes' snaps.

Not sure if the IDP asst coach is still a thing - looks like there was one post since Aug 30.  If it is let me know and I will gladly move.

Would you make trade? 16 team, start 3 DL, 3 LB, 3 DB. 2pts/solo, 1pt/asst, 4 pts/sack, 3pts FF/FR

I get:

Hubbard

D Odeyingbo

2022 rookie 3rd round pick (most likely around pick 40-45)

for

David Long

Kyzir White

I know, I know, David Long is HOT right now but I am pretty loaded at LB. I have 6 of the top 38 scoring LB's but very weak at DL - I have Garrett and that's pretty much it. At DL he has Hunter, J Allen, Joey Bosa, Hubbard and Clowney. I don't think he will give me Hunter, Allen, or Bosa

I can add Odeyingbo directly to the IR and then add another player from FA.

Appreciate it guys!

Accept. LB is easy to fill. DE is not and you're getting 2 plus a pick. Hubbard is solid (some concern with Ossai there) and Dayo was regarded highly enough that he went in the 2nd despite an achilles. That trade is betting on all upside while losing 2 LBs that are easily replaceable with limited long term value.

I agree with this.  In fact, I also have Dayo stashed on my taxi squad, and I’m also going to add Ossai late in the year, and hopefully one of them (or both) looks great in camp next year. I thought Ossai looked explosive in camp this year.

It could be a thing but there doesn't seem to be enough new blood to get it back from the dead.  Posting any questions anywhere in IDP land is appreciated just to start discussions....hahaha

I agree with all the rest.  In your situation with your LB depth it's a good move.  If you really need DL help this year I would see about getting Clowney instead.  i would be leery of the achilles as an injury and Clowney could possibly help you this year.

Think I'm finally bailing on Myles Jack. In the Jax games I've watched he's just not in on plays, he's usually very late or getting run by/over. I had faith going into the season but this dude is looking like a bust. Nothing but crappy play and injuries :kicksrock:

Fresh off reading this week's The Monster and agree with the assessment there. The really short version is that Jack will no longer have play calling duties and could improve, as he's done better when someone else wears the green dot. Hold and wait - though he's injured, too? - so that may be tough in shallow leagues.

That OT session killed me in the late game.  I went into OT up 10 pts and in two series Minka and Watt put up 26 pts and I am now down 16 pts.  Ugh.  Still have a chance as I have Simmons and Hyde going tonight vs Roussou and Knox.  It's big play scoring (Simmons gets 12 pts for a sack and an INT is 10 pts as well).  I would be feeling much better up 10 though.  Dam Watt.

AJ Johnson (Den) has a torn pec and done for the year.  Maybe time for Kiser, Browning or Strnad.  Who you got?

Bednarick McKinney signed to NYG practice squad.  WIll this affect Crowder in the near future?

Strnad probably has the most 100% snap potential. Gonna be tough for Kiser to get more than base downs, especially since he just got there. Browning is the most talented option, but he's a project. Keep an eye on Cooper's usage too.

JOK down with an ankle injury.  Expected to miss a few weeks so does Walker now become viable?  Probably....at least worth a shot if you can pick him up cheap.

Fire up your OgBong!

A. Ogbongbemiga (58% snaps) got the start for Tranquill at LB instead of Niemann (26% snaps). Can I get an Amen?!

Worth noting in deep/contract leagues or for those of you that really got crushed by injuries. 3T 5A is a decent line for the snap count.

If you're in Sleeper leagues, Jamal Agnew is playing WR for the Jags, but has DB eligibility.  I hope to be running a Quincy Williams / Agnew pair at DB after waivers tonight, cheating on both of my DBs.
