I mean relatively speaking world hunger and racial injustice are much bigger deals.
Why does Caserio look like he should be ferrying people across the river Styx?
If they had the 3 pick I think they would have really looked into this Watson thing deeper/quicker and tried to get some idea of if/what his punishment might be. I think you have to take a QB there though if you're Houston and you're picking at 3. If the Watson stuff clears and he agrees to stay in Houston (two massive IFS), then you can trade Lance/Fields and get a good return on them. (Could easily get a next year 1st + more picks probably from a team like Denver/Detroit)So I know it's an exercise in futility, but I'm curious to ask my fellow Texans fans.....
What if - we still had the roster we have right now AND we had kept our picks. Assume, for argument's sake, we had our 1st and 2nd round picks this year and were picking early in the draft.
What do you think Houston would or should have done? Also assume Watson is in the trouble he already is in too. Do we pick a QB at 3 or would we have tried to go for someone like Pitts or Sewell? I'm just curious as to what might have been for the Texans with a top 3 pick in this draft.
Wondering what the compensation is, and how much guaranteed salary the Texans may be eating.Cobb expecting to be traded back to the Packers per ESPN. Details still being worked out.
Honestly not sure I will even bother trying to watch this year. The team hasn’t felt this barren of talent since the expansion years, at least then you could hope for the future and were just happy to have a team again. Maybe the team surprises somehow but this feels like 2011-2013 era L-Astros level of pathetic coming up.@coolnerdAfraid it's time for a new thread title.
Yeah I've got tickets so no option really other than throw away the cost of the PSL to stop paying season prices. And I completely understand those who did so this year. Not sure if I'm going to last much longer if they keep making the kind of bonehead moves they have.Honestly not sure I will even bother trying to watch this year. I knew individuals could be delusional but I didn't think it was possible for an entire organization.Yahoo's Charles Robinson reports the Texans "have not given up" on Deshaun Watson "being their QB this year."
The conjecture on Watson -- who faces sexual misconduct allegations from 22 women -- is all over the place as we inch closer to the regular season. Seasoned Houston beat writer John McClain said Monday that Watson would never again play for the Texans while Robinson stood by his reporting that "Texans brass will to try to get [Watson] back into the fold before the season begins." Fox's Jay Glazer said last week that the team believes Watson is "going to end up wanting to play for them this year." The Texans, per Glazer, are not returning trade request calls for their franchise QB. Watson was back at Texans training camp Monday after missing last week with "muscle tightness." Fantasy managers will need the NFL to weigh in on Watson's discipline before there's any clarity on his 2021 status. In the meantime, Watson should be taken in the final rounds of fantasy drafts.
HOU would be crazy to move on until goodell spins his "giant roulette wheel of justice" and who knows when that will be?I knew individuals could be delusional but I didn't think it was possible for an entire organization.
Your thread starter hasn't visited the board since 12/30/20.This post needs a new title. Something like, Houston Texans The Race To Oblivion
Shaq Lawson traded to the Jets for a 6th round pick.
I find that funny as well, all the blurbs in the news yesterday were all positive about the move for the Jets. I guess it was a cheap acquisition at least. For the Texans a 6th is better than nothing, but they are eating nearly $2 million in salary cap they didn’t have to because there was no need to restructure his contract.Well if he isn't the answer and the other option was releasing him, at least we got something back. It essentially means we ended up trading McKinney for 2 6th round picks. If he couldn't even make this Texans team, no harm, no foul. I find it funny the Jets feel like they've found Carl Lawson's replacement with someone who wouldn't have made the Texans' roster.
Sunk cost fallacy? They'd already printed Lawson jerseys.Well if he isn't the answer and the other option was releasing him, at least we got something back. As far as I know he is, probably some combo of him, Terrance Mitchell and Hargreaves. Not quite sure how it's going to shake out until they get out there though. What's the CB pecking order heading into week 1? Is Desmond King starting... always a nice IDP piece if he's starting and returning kicks.
TY!
You think Urban Meyer is going to just run his UDFA RB all day? I think he is going to air the ball out with his brand new toys, great confidence game for your new NFL-ready QB.All I know is, James Robinson is licking his chops for this week 1 matchup.
You don't think Robinson will be heavily involved? The Texans have the worst run defense in the league! I'm betting an easy hundy and a teeter.....plus a few receptionsYou think Urban Meyer is going to just run his UDFA RB all day? Oh, he'll be involved but Houston is horrible on all aspects of offense and defense. I think Lawrence has a bigger game, due to Urban Meyer wanting to run it up.You don't think Robinson will be heavily involved? The Texans have the worst run defense in the league! Garbage points for Cooks?Oh, he'll be involved but Houston is horrible on all aspects of offense and defense. I think Lawrence has a bigger game, due to Urban Meyer wanting to run it up.
I hate Tyrod Taylor for WRs. Think he loves TE and RB check downs, but I could see Cooks getting some end of game work. Really hoping Phillip Lindsay can seize the RB1 and be involved in 3rd downs. Could benefit from some of those check downs.Garbage points for Cooks?
How bout start ur Jags?Oh, he'll be involved but Houston is horrible on all aspects of offense and defense. I think Lawrence has a bigger game, due to Urban Meyer wanting to run it up.
I was unfortunate to miss the turn on QB tiers I valued and then had some guys in higher tiers pluck Tannehill and Stafford... ended up with Trevor Lawrence. Not worried about his production this week. How bout start ur Jags?
Sammy Watkins had his best season with Tyrod. Tyrod actually has a good deep ball, his issues are more short area accuracy. Cooks is possibly going to see a career high in targets, though they'll almost certainly the worst quality of targets he's ever had. He's the only Texan I'd really want to own this season though, frankly I'm a little surprised he wasn't on the trade market.I hate Tyrod Taylor for WRs. Lol, I don't disagree with you, it seems they are overpaying him. However, by trading away Roby, they will be freeing up about $9 million in cap space. So in the long run, they are not really hampering themselves against the cap as a lot of these one year veterans will be off the team next year, but it is not a really good look. And because unused cap dollars do roll forward, they are giving themselves a little bit less cap room in the future by overpaying some of these veterans now. I am hoping that Caserio knows what he is doing, but as of now, don't have any real proof that he does (or does not). We will just have to wait and see. We’re really signing old man Amendola for $2.5M? God this team has gone to the dogs. It’s as if Caserio and Littlefinger are telling every former Pats player to come over and take some of Clueless Cal’s money before he wises up.
It's been a couple of years since he played for the Bills, but his issue here was always that he was a very conservative QB. He's got a good NFL arm and can make the throws, but he never took any chances. He's an efficient-enough passer, 62.6% comp, 51/14 TD/INT ratio when he was with the Bills, but never really made teams pay with gunslinger Brett Favre-style traits. He's methodical, he doesn't turn the ball over, but he doesn't make the splash plays that you get from a player like Watson. the gripe with him is that he would never throw a receiver open. If the receiver's open, Tyrod will throw it....if the receiver is even remotely covered, he's going to his next progression.Sammy Watkins had his best season with Tyrod. I wouldn't take the data I pulled with his 3 best seasons including a roster of Sammy Watkins (before he sucked), Robert Woods, Charles Clay and LeSean McCoy to be any indication of the type of player he is now 6 years later, but different strokes for different folks, ya know?Sammy Watkins had his best season with Tyrod. I think Lindsay is almost a lock to NOT get 3rd down work. He's the worst pass catching RB on the roster. David Johnson is one of the best pass catching RB's in the NFL(its easily the strength of his game at this point) and Rex Burkhead and Mark Ingram have had good receiving seasons in the past.
They still haven’t released what the compensation was for Roby, which usually means late-round picks at best. He may not be around long enough to contribute to this obvious rebuild so cutting his salary is a good idea, but I am concerned they may have just gave him away. He may not be a lockdown corner but he’s a solid guy, especially since he won’t be up against the top WR’s of opponents with the Saints with Lattimore there.Lol, I don't disagree with you, it seems they are overpaying him. The Texans traded cornerback Bradley Roby to the Saints on Thursday for a 2022 third-round draft pick and a 2023 conditional sixth-round pick. They still haven’t released what the compensation was for Roby, which usually means late-round picks at best.
