2021 New York football Giants (1 Viewer)

Remember in the mid-late 90s Giants signed every dude regardless of character (Jason Peters, Kerry Collins, drafted Shockey)? Or when Gettleman talked about "Hog Mollies", didn't draft any in 2021 and said "we like our line more than you guys"? OOF.
And then benched Peart before the season even started.  I guess they didnt like him that much either.

Daniel Jones all but confirmed that Matt Skura will start at LG on Sunday.

Lemieux, Gates, Brederson and now Skura have been our starters at LG.

Wilson is not a 1st round talent and never should have been drafted there.  At this point he's been clear that he doesn't care about football and can't stay out of trouble.  Despite the extreme need at OL, I wouldn't want this guy's attitude anywhere near my team.  He's a cancer.

Most rankings and mocks  had him projected to be drafted end of the first round (which he was) or begining of the 2nd rd and no later than the 2nd

18-49 since 2017.    i'm willing to take a chance, how much more wrong could it go.

Dan Salomone @Dan_Salomone

Out: OL Ben Bredeson (hand), WR Sterling Shepard (hamstring), WR Darius Slayton (hamstring)

Questionable: DB Keion Crossen (elbow), LB Tae Crowder (hamstring), DB Nate Ebner (quad), TE Kaden Smith (knee)

Nice comeback win for the guys today. The defense should be ashamed that they let Tysom Hill run them over like that, but they did enough to win.

Jones with nice game 400 yards to lead the comeback. Nice to see Saquon involved in the passing game. Golladay came up big, the rookie showed a little something and John Ross signing paid off today.

Yeah Very Positive day overall ...

  • Giants will not need a QB  ... Jones is improving every week and overall he's played like a stud ...Jones has been Excellent so far this season
  • Saquan getting better every week ...still needs to hit holes wuicker and harder but shouwed the open filed moves and was great as a receiver.
  • Galloday is looking Good
  • Yung Joka ...came up big today
  • No Sacks Allowed ??? Really ??? Jones has been getting rid of the ball much faster which helps

Toney led the team in targets

Daniel Jones got the ball down 11 with 7 minutes left in the game. He went 11/15 165 yards & TD on the 3 following drives for 17 points.

Yeah ...hopfully I was wrong about him. He showed some of the crazy moves from his higlight reel ... seemed like almost all of his catches were for 1st downs when he couldve have been stopped for much shorter gains. He did have 1 big drop that could've went for a real big play

Jones is really looking good ... He looked confident and picked apart a good defense on a Big Day for New Orleans returning home for the 1st time since Ida.

His numbers could easily have been 402 yds 3 Tds and 0 Ints ... If Ross didnt fumble on the TD  and the pick was on a Hail Mary at the end of the half

Been very positive on Jones.  Even though he didn't perform well last year I always feel confident that he can bring the team back.  It is nice to see that things are falling into place for him.

I liked Barclay coming out but not confident he can put it together long term.  Scares me thinking the numbers he will be getting for his new contract.  I figure he is likely to end up missing too many games for him to be effective.

Toney is fun to watch.  He's another guy who scares me when it comes to staying in the game.  It was a great trade to get next year's #1 from Chicago.  Can't believe they are 2-2.  Thought 1-3 at best.

Surprised Andrew Thomas has come around the way he has.  I hope it isn't smoke and mirrors.  He still looks like he's going to fall back on his #### every play.

The big question is if the Giants will begin to operate the way they did in the final seven minutes of regulation and overtime, or if they’ll revert to their conservative form when they aren’t in desperation mode.

I hope that Judge and Garrett don't revert to their conservative ways going forward. This team has weapons, they have to be willing to turn them loose.

Matt Peart has only played 19 Snaps this season and Nate Solder has been arguably the Giants worst Olineman so far

I wonder if we will see Isaiah Wilson any time soon

The issue is in the past when they're turned Jones loose vs. a non-Washington team he's collapsed in spectacular fashion. Facing the Dallas pass rush/blitz in a hostile environment should be a good 2nd test for the line and Jones' suddenly-improving pocket awareness.

Jordan Raanan @JordanRaanan

The three biggest throws on Sunday for the Giants (Saquon TD, Golladay on third-and-7 late in fourth, Golladay on third-and-5 in OT). Notice the trend? Offensive line gave Daniel Jones a comfortable pocket. The 8 pressured allowed by the Giants O-line easily a season low.

Cowboys release former Pro Bowl LB Jaylon Smith ahead of Week 5 battle with Giants

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/stephon-gilmore-released-reunion-with-tom-brady-among-possible-landing-spots-for-the-former-all-pro/

Should Giants go after Smith ??? Cowboys eat the contract and they can pick Smith's Brain for the upcoming game

Yes. For sure. No brainer. Martinez down, need LB help, low cost investment, you play dem Boyz twice,if he flpos..so what. If he connects, like plucking a rest of year starter off the fantasy waiver wire for $1.

Dammit !!!!!!

And  Peppers (hamstring) is out !
Thomas should play but don't like that he's questionable.   he's played really well.       Shep and Slayton out isn't good, but it means DJ gets more plays to get in synch with KT and KG, which i think is a good thing.   maybe a blessing in disguise as these guys get back.    glass half full.   tired of losing.

What a disaster! Wish we had a bye week coming up instead we get the rams on 10 days rest

  • Defense sucked but the Giants offense actually played really tuff today.
  • The injuries were disasterous!!
  • Yung Joka was phenomenal ... until the gangsta came out in him.
  • Booker played good and played his ### off
  • Couple of disturbing observations ... John Ross piss poor efforts on balls that a not thrown directly to him ... on defense Tae Crowder does not like to tackle ... not a good quality for a LB
  • ####### Bears keep winning ... but they have a reall tuff schedule coming up

kyle rudolph just walks away

guy has been pretty useless so far.

#Giants star RB Saquon Barkley is believed to have suffered a low-ankle sprain, sources say, an injury that likely knocks him out next week. He’ll have more tests, but he’s best characterized as week-to-week. A fast healer, Barkley will work to miss only one week.

The defense is atrocious! Zero pass rush. Sitting back in soft zones. And they can't stop the run.

I though that they went after Jackson in free agency so they could play more man on the back end.  Very frustrating to watch this defense.

The Giants would need to go on a 21-game winning streak (through Week 8 next season) for Dave Gettleman to get to .500 as Giants general manager.

🤮

One good thing that will come out of this season is he won't get the chance to get to .500 with The Giants.

#Giants WR Kenny Golladay is expected to miss this week with a knee injury, source said, but a major sigh of relief all around. The initial fear was that it was major… but should be just a week or two. Actual good injury luck for NYG

I just hope they don't rush Jones back or any of them for that matter.  Take it slow as this season looks like it is a draft derby season.

Anyone think Daniel Jones has any shot to play this weekend or probably not? Haven't heard how bad the concussion is or still any lingering affects?

i haven't seen anything other than that he's in the protocol.    just my opinion but I'd be surprised if he played this weekend.

Giants practice squad protections this week:

QB Brian Lewerke
WR Dante Pettis
OL Korey Cunningham
DL David Moa

Had to protect Lewerke since he becomes QB2 if Jones isn’t cleared for Sunday.

— The #Giants worked out OL Forrest Lamp, who started last year for the #Chargers.

Link: Rapoport
Luv taking  these nothing to lose chances ... Giants are finally doing smart things with the Oline talent

Lamp was the 5th pick in the 2nd round in 2017 (37 Overall) but had an injury plagued first 3 seasons ... last season he started all 16 games for the Chargers. He signed with Buffalo but he had a calf injury and they ultimately waived him.

He was the #1 Guard prospect in that Draft and his NFL Comparison was Zach Martin ... his Prospect Grade 6.70 (YEAR 1 QUALITY STARTER)

His ability to potentially line up at tackle, guard or center will only increase his value.

"He's the real deal. If he can snap, you could get away with playing him all up and down the line. Great feet, strong, smart." -- AFC executive

https://www.nfl.com/prospects/forrest-lamp/32004c41-4d75-2374-5b95-fb2de7d90c20

More on Lamp from PFF ...

https://www.pff.com/news/pro-forrest-lamp-is-an-under-the-radar-asset-to-the-los-angeles-chargers

More impressively, however, Lamp is perhaps one of the best offensive linemen we have seen in the PFF College era (2014 – present). When looking at every offensive tackle with at least 1,000 snaps between 2014 and 2018, Lamp ranks first in pass-blocking grade (95.9), tied for second in overall grade (94.3) and fourth in run-block grade (92.9). Moreover, Lamp’s 1.9% pressure rate allowed ranks fourth and his 3.5% negatively-graded play rate is the best by a significant margin. Some may say this may be due to that fact he played weak competition in the Conference USA, but when examining his performance against schools from the Power Five, Lamp was still one of the top tackles in the FBS. His 87.0 overall grade against such Power Five competition ranks 19th in the PFF college era, proving he is more than capable of playing with the big dogs.

The #Giants are expected to sign former #Texans and #Dolphins LB Benardrick McKinney to their practice squad upon passing a physical, source said, with the plan to quickly promote him when he gets acclimated. He’s had interest from several teams but was looking for the right fit.

I wasn’t able to see this game, but following online, Jones certainly played like he was concussed.

I found it extremely weird that he was cleared so fast when so many other players are slower to return. Makes me wonder if some teams play fast & loose with the protocol for certain players.

Not accusing the Giants of anything, but I’m also not not accusing them of anything either. ;)

There's no way I would have played him considering the circumstances ... They were destined to get crushed with all of the injuries coming into that game including Jones. Giants actually looked great on their 1st drive after Solder got pulled  ...Toney had 3 catches fro 36 yards, and thomas was anchoring the line, Peart looked good as well. Even the defense shutdown the Rams on the 1st couple of drives.

Once Toney went down ...  they started going to Shep who looked terrible in the 1st half dropping passes and falling down on routes (that was one of the INTs) and Pettis who was terrible ... Giants receivers had at least 3 drops early on. Then Thomas went down and it was instantly over from there. First Play Peart at LT  let the defender have a clear path to Jones Blind side and of course Jones got hammered and fumbled ... Peart jump on the fumble and of course it came squirting out.

Jones looked bad but ... not sure what QB in the NFL would look good coming off a concussion,  no time time to throw and your receivers are a rusty Shep, a terrible Pettis and Colin Johnson who looks like he gives about 50% on every play

Its so freaking discouraging watching this team just keep losing players

Lorenzo Carter, Oshane Ximines and Azeez Ojulari all had ZERO total pressures for the #Giants against the Rams in 51 combined pass rushing snaps. In the last two weeks, they have one pressure in 100 combined pass-rushing snaps. Brutal.

Andrew Thomas to the IR.

Signed LB Benardrick McKinney and OT Derrick Kelly to the practice squad with WR Travis Toivonen.
