2021 New York football Giants (1 Viewer)

I spent hundreds of dollars for a penny's worth of free soda.
🤣 also you can't even sub out the free soda for a water instead. You can only get a penny's worth of free sugar water and only if you are a season ticket holder. It's also sponsored by Pepsi.

tankathon

Big games coming up for the G-men.

Need Minnesota to beat the Bears tonight.

A Seattle win tomorrow would be nice but we really need them to beat the Bears next week.

Don't see Carolina winning again this year.

Missed opportunity yesterday with the Jets.

CBS mock draft has the Giants trading up to #2 to take the DE from Oregon

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/news/2022-nfl-mock-draft-giants-trade-up-to-no-2-for-edge-rusher-four-quarterbacks-go-in-round-1/

I feel like the Giants should trade one of the first for a 1st next year, the way things have gone they will miss Thibodeaux and Neal.

I'd rather Fromm then Glennon ... at least Fromm hasnt proven that he sucks yet.

Glennon is completely immobile and his accuracy is horrific !!!!!!! He offers nothing !
DJ - 38 games - 62.8% - 45 TD - 29 INT

MG - 38 games - 60.2% - 46 TD - 32 INT

The Giants reworked the contacts of TE Kyle Rudolph and P Riley Dixon to create ~$350K in cap space for the rest of 2021.

With just 3 weeks left in their season, this gives them some room needed to operate (practice squad transactions, roster bonuses, etc.)

It's fascinating, frustrating and sad that with the last, what 5 years, of failure...we have a cap crunch.

It's really bad when you consider that the starting QB is on a rookie deal

In case you are sitting at work watching the clock.....Ian O'Connor podcast

"The great Ian O’Connor joins the show to discuss the Giants and Jets. Ian gives the inside scoop on where the Giants go after Dave Gettleman. The opinions of scouts on Zach Wilson and Daniel Jones! Russell Wilson to the Giants? Ian think it’s a strong possibility! Which of Joe Judge and Robert Saleh might have staying power in New York! Ian opens up about his conversations with John Mara!"

just one of the gems from this....Ian confirmed that before Jerry Reese was hired as the GM, John Mara was ready to appoint Chris Mara, his brother, as the GM. Steve Tisch said no.

The same Chris Mara who has been the SVP of Player Personnel since 2011....just a coincidence we've sucked since then?

I was at the game when the plane flew over then Giants stadium hauling a banner that said "15 years of lousy  foorball,we've had enough" and the chant erupted in the stadium..."We've had enough" After that game the front office and coaches were all gone,The Marra's went outside the organization and hired George Young as GM. The rest is Giants history,I think it's time to go outside the organization for the neaxt GM. We need an outsider looking in. Not the opposite. Just my 2 cents

Giants set to keep Judge & Jones

https://nypost.com/2021/12/26/giants-set-to-keep-joe-judge-daniel-jones-for-2022-season/

So it seems like they are going to make the "new" GM keep Judge instead of letting the "new" GM pick his own HC. Thus the cycle continues

The decisions this organization makes are puzzling.
If they’re just gonna elevate Gettleman’s deputy, then it makes a little more sense. Think of it as a year of the Gettleman regime without Gettleman. Why they would want to do that, no idea, but it looks like it could happen.

:bag:

Next week's game plan...we should run the wishbone with Toney at QB.

Houston and the Jets won,  we have more company at the 4 win tier.

Let's go Seattle.

I've been a Giants fan a long time,I've suffered through some 2 and 3 win seasons back in the day, wayyyyyyy back in the day. I've seen them tread water for years at tines but this team isn't treading water it's regressing. Gettleman has bungled more draft picks than he's hit on. Free agent moves have down right awful except for Martinez. I want to see Judge succeed but after this season I'm not getting my hopes up. Jones is not an NFL starting qb. Clear the slate now. Dump the front office and coaching staff, total rebuild now! We have nice draft capital to start the process, don't let the current regime set us back even farther. Enough 2 steps back a half a step forward.

I feel for you Giants fans.

How long has John Mara been in charge? As an outsider solely paying attention due to Saquon, failson Mara's moves strike me more as wanting to cling to the past + an arrogance around the "Giant's way" (e.g. outdated draft heuristics) rather than trying to actually win games in the present. Not only were Gettleman, Judge, Garrett bad hires on their own, the way they were hired and expected to work with each other was always destined to fail. That's squarley on Mara.

Out of curiosity, who do you have have respect for, if anyone, in the NYG football building? Be it player, coach, or front office. The roster is just so bad. Bradberry was a nice pickup. Adoree Jackson? Overpaid. Kenny Golladay? Overpaid. Leonard Williams? Sure give up a 3rd draft pick for the right to pay him huge sums of money. Flamed out in NYJ. Overpaid. Blake Martinez mentioned above. He plugs a hole but is non-impact at a non-impact position. Middle of road player. Daniel Jones? An obvious reach from the moment the pick was made. He sucks and will never be a good QB. Kyle Rudolph? Cut by a better organization. Jabrill Peppers? Ineffective, benched. Team Captain Logan Ryan? Talks #### about the opposing QB on a team *HE JUST LOST TO* Dexter Lawrence? Overdrafted.

I feel for Giants fans because I think there's a good chance the ownership doesn't care to win as much as the fans do. Metlife will always be packed, merchandise will always be purchased, and TVs will always be tuned to the game. At first it was maddening to think Barkley would sacrifice his ACL/PCL/meniscus + ankles for this nonsense, but I'm not sure he cares about winning either as long as he gets to benefit from being a NY professional athlete and all it entails.

In a just world that is pro-competition (rather than the old boys' club that is the NFL), two upstart, young, expansion teams would come into NY, win, attract fans, and push out the failsons that are the Maras and Johnsons.

Approaching the most interesting part of a NYG season...the off-season.  might be more interesting, but the front office is just as bad as what we see on the field.

GM/Coach - who in their right mind wants to come to this fiasco and be saddled with Judge and Jones.    Building blocks on this team...I'd be hard pressed to name 5.   Thomas...X. Mckinney, Ojulari?.     roster is a mess.   my gut says it will not be abrams or an internal guy, but i have no idea who would want this job.   I don't see Mara firing a 3rd coach in a row after 2 years, but Judge has shown very little to this point.

Draft - we got 5 picks in the top 3 rounds,  2 firsts, 2 thirds.   the last 3rd round pick that made a difference imo - mario manningham in 2008.      the scouting/drafting has been so bad.     take the best OL with one of those 1st rounders...and i wouldn't be shocked if they went WR with the other.   honestly we have no one offensively that teams need to worry about.     We are gonna suck next year too.   get your QB in 2023.

If it were me I'd probably take 2 Olineman with the first 2 picks and would strongly consider a 3rd with the 2nd rd pick.

  • Thomas is the only NFL tackle on their roster (Peart is done, Soldier will be gone)
  • Price is adequate at Center but I'd prefere him as a bu Center/Guard
  • They have no NFL quality Guards on the roster (Hernandez has regressed every year to the point that he is unstartable)
  • Pick1 Tackle i.e Evan Neal ?
  • Pick 2  IOL i.e Tyler Linderbaum - PFF says the best C prospect theyve ever grade

No doubt that OL must be the #1 priority. They also need address the pass rush.

I would love for the Giants to be able to trade down with one of those 1sts round picks this year.

Maybe get a deal like what they got from the Bears last draft.

Take Neal (or Ekwonu) with their 1st pick

Trade the 2nd 1st round pick – move down to the 20’s and still grab an interior OL + pick up a 1st round pick for 2023.

Getting Aiden Hutchinson from Michigan + one of the top Tackles would be my wet dream but I don’t think that will happen.

If they fix the Offensive Line in the draft, it will be a huge win, even if they do nothing else. They have too many holes to fix everything this year, but we have lost so many seasons due to the poor O-Line play, they can't evaluate anything else. If the line is at or above league average, you'll know once and for all about Jones, and Barkley, etc. Then you can move on in future years to address the other problems.

DO NOT trade any of the draft capital coming up. Draft two O-linemen in the first round and another in the third round.

Holes everywhere on this team so build from the inside out, make the O-line better through the draft.

Current GM has left this team in a big hole, start digging out on the line

The Jets are playing hard and showing improvement and heart.  The Giants are the opposite.  I think they need to start over again at all levels.  They had better not hire from within considering how bad they've been in every way for years.

The offense put the defense in a tough spot as soon as the game started.

1st play from scrimmage was a strip sack that set the Bears up on the 2.

The very next possession the offense turned the ball over again, setting the Bears up on the 24.

The defense is solid

A few highlights:

• Judge referenced no “golf clubs in the locker room” as a sign of a team that hasn’t checked out. Golden Tate’s gold bag was notably in front of his locker late in the 2019 season.

• Judge said they’re not having fistfights on the sideline (WFT).

• Judge said impending free agents have been in his office begging to return.

• Judge said he gets calls twice a week from players who signed elsewhere for more money wishing they were still in NY.

• Judge said he’s not going to publicly blast players like a “coward.”

Some of the topics Joe Judge touched on during his soliloquy: Golf clubs, finger-pointing, clownshows, fans booing his ### out of the stadium, cowardly coaches who rip players in pressers, the lack of captains, Vegas paying out late in lopsided Giants games.

I've seen some bad Giants teams in my time,I'm old enough to have seen Fran Tarkenton in a Giants uniform.

This is the worst team I have ever witnessed.

Tear it down.

Yep 100% on board with this ... All of the skill positions will improve with a strong Oline.

Next step is getting rid of Judge ... hate to say but this guy is terrible and despite the constant BS that flows from his mouth this team is getting progressively worse and has quit on him

DJ and Barkley had fantastic rookie seasons and have turned to crap under Judge ... the Special team that Judge has invested so much in is garbage, the coaches that he has selected are garbage!

Joe must GO !!!!!!

I’m still amazed that DG & JJ are being allowed to finish the season

I'm prone to some hyperbole from time to time, but I truly believe I could have played better than Mike Glennon did yesterday. I mean, technically, successfully taking the snap and kneeling down would have been more effective than what Glennon was, so not a high bar, but I think I could manage it.

I'm a Bears fan, the Bears defense is not good, they haven't been able to cover anything this year. Pass rush is the only decent part of the defense, and Glennon made them look, if not like the 85 Bears, like the Urlacher/Briggs group.

I'm starting to think Daniel Jones might be a pretty solid QB, he's just surrounded by awful coaches. Its amazing how much worse they have been without Jones. 10 or fewer points in 4 of the 5 games he's been out, and the one that wasn't had 2 garbage time TD's in last 5 minutes of a game the other team had pulled starters in.

I was talking about the front office and coaches.

Former New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan added his two cents to the ongoing debate about New York Giants head coach Joe Judge and his rambling,

Ryan piled on the criticism of Judge Monday during an appearance on “Get Up!”

“This guy’s hard to like. I mean, he really is. For a guy, No. 1, he’s trying to build himself up by blowing somebody else’s candle out. Great job. Farm your own land. Here’s one thing I know about this guy right here, OK, and this football team: This is the biggest disappointment in the entire National Football League. They built this thing. They threw all this money in because they were supposed to compete for the division championship this year. Here’s where they finish: fact is this, you’re dead last. You’ve won four football games. You’re saying the most you can win is five? Don’t worry about that. That ain’t coming, OK? I don’t care who the hell you play. You’re playing worse than any team in the league right now. That is fact.”
