2021 Philadelphia Eagles - Queued up a playlist of our greatest zits throughout the season for final game (3 Viewers)

We're gonna hit 100 pages by Monday, aren't we.
Last year we added 24 pages over the 3 days of the draft, so it's very possible but we also hope to not have a Jalen Hurts-type pick again that fueled a lot of it.

But, we also have been way more active this off-season. Last year we were only 17 pages in when the draft rolled around, compared to 70 (!) pages so far this year. We're already past last year's halfway point and if we hit 100 this weekend we'll have already passed all of 2019's thread.

2017: 172 pages

2018: 112 pages

2019: 100 pages

2020: 132 pages

Well, here we are 9 days before the season opens and already at the 100 page mark...

so you're saying we're on the superbowl year pace. :excited: keep up the good work gb.
:lmao:  We're actually outpacing it, by far! We were only on page 61 at this same point in 2017 and didn't hit the 100 page mark until November 17th. But, obliviously, things started to ramp up in December after the Wentz injury and for the rest of that SB run.

Home fans can be more informed than most outsiders. Is Hurts worth where he's going in redraft?
I think the logic is that the Eagles will be behind in most of their games and Hurts will be throwing a lot on top of him just being a threat to use his legs to pick up first downs or in the red zone, in general.

I think something like Kyler Murray's fantasy performance in 2019 when the Cardinals went 4-11-1 is likely, with Murray's 2020 being the best case/upside.

It's funny because I figured someone would take him high in our league being Eagles homers. I figured high was like 8-9th round. Someone took him in the 6th.

Not exactly sure where he's being drafted but honestly if people are taking him earlier then more established QBs I'd wait and take the established guy later and get better value. Wouldn't force drafting Hurts. Team will likely be down most games so the theory is he's gonna throw a lot and has mobility. Kind of a perfect storm in terms of a fantasy QB this year but wouldn't force drafting him too early. He's probably a High QB2 matchup guy this year.

I've been in leagues with Homers where Eagles have gone much higher then they should be. When Im in those leagues if theres an Eagle I really want I will force it depending who I want. Doing a draft with some guys from work from a few stores tomorrow and really Want Smith but I know I might have to take him much earlier. Also besides my buddy I don't know many of the guys so I don't know their tendencies draft wise which makes it harder. I'm hoping most of these guys under value Kyle Pitts though.

Now My old Keeper league was Homerish but a lot of guys went with reality. I did take Wentz a little earlier then I should've but he ended up being my QB2 under Rodgers.

About 3-4 seasons of consistent results and actual improvement. My issue with hurts is a lot more of I haven't seen a lot of improvements from his freshman year till now so far and that's concerning to me
3-4 seasons? That's...not really a fair benchmark.  I am very skeptical on Hurts, but I hope he succeeds. I suspect a full year of starting will give us info to know if he can hack it as a starter.  He won't be perfect - I mean this will be his first year in the NFL with a full camp as the starter. So let's see what we got,
Personally - I want to see him, in the last 8 games, have a 60%+ completion and a 2:1 TD:Int ratio.

I say 3-4 yrs because players with his skillset are super inconsistent year to year. I want to see a few yrs of consistency from the guy. We don't have that kind of time and it seems like the Eagles aren't interested in finding out because their move still is find a long term guy at the spot as many In the org do not feel Hurts can be it.

Week 1 is here! After the rousing success of the Draft Prediction contest, let's do a season prediction contest. Winner receives a cornucopia of Eagles-related swag, but contest is open to all FBG posters.

Rules:

  • Using the format below (and my official entry) as a template, indicate these 3 things about the Eagles 2021 season: overall record, total points scored, and the outcome of each game: W/L/T (make sure your Wins and Losses match up with your overall record!)
  • Number of correct W/L outcome predictions by game will be the first tie-breaker if multiple entries have the correct overall record, and total points (closest, over or under) will be the second tie-breaker, if needed.
  • Entries need to be posted in this thread by noon EST on Sunday, September 12th.
Good luck!

This is 8 wins, which falls in line with my number. I feel like 9 is the ceiling and 5 is the floor.

I'm not even an Eagles fan I wanted to see what you're all thinking about this week's matchup with the Falcons. but I see many of you already count this game as a loss.  the line is Falcons -3.5, 48 o/u, 6th highest total of the week! do you REALLY think Atl is going to be doing a lot of scoring? do you think their defense can stop anything?

maybe I'm against the grain here, but I don't see how the Eagles aren't slapping the Falcons around in this one. Matty Ice got sacked a ton of times last season, doubtful that changes this year. I don't see any Falcons CB that can keep up with D. Smith. Eagles run game will have its way, Miles Sanders and all. Eagles are bad, but they're not Atlanta Falcons bad. come on now.Falcons are maybe 1/8th of an inch away from being as putrid as the Lions.

jeez you Eagles fans are worse than Mets fans with self hatred and self doubt. 🙂

I definitely struggled with that one.  I might have to think about it more, but it just feels like a situation where Arthur Smith is going to draw up some stuff that will be difficult for the Eagles to deal with without any film of him with the Falcons.  Aside from the D Line being pretty good, I don't see much the defense being that strong.  I also am pretty skeptical of Hurts.

Haven't had a lot to go off of with the slow preseason. I think they'll get it going as the year moves on but I see them struggling at the start.

Yes but an 18 week season with 1 bye is 17 games.

I see the same applying to the Eagles offense, though. They were sub-vanilla in the preseason so ATL has no idea what to prepare for from the offense, and also no clue what the the D will look like. Since both teams have that element of "surprise" and both stunk it up last year and added play-making offensive studs to their offense in the first round of the draft, I think it's a toss-up and give the edge to the Eagles because I think their defensive line will be the difference.

Our home game matchups are tough. I have us splitting the division but we'll have to be road warriors to pull off 10 wins.

i guess it's possible, but I have a lot more faith in Smith putting together something great than I do in Sirianni.

Do you have any faith in Reagor? All I've heard about him is that he can make a one-handed catch in a scrimmage. He went undrafted in my 16-team league, which I find surprising.

i have faith in reagor as a player in general.  in a 16-team league, I would definitely consider rostering him.  overall, i thought that he had a decent year for a rookie last year.   I'm not sure that there is a huge upside for this year, though, so I guess it depends on what you are looking for.  A sleeper with breakout/high ceiling potential?  Don't really see it.  Someone who could be worth starting due to byes or injury?  I would say yes.

If a team grabs another team's practice squad player, the player must be on the 53 man roster for a minimum of 3 weeks. I wonder how often this happens during the season.

Probably not often. The Eagles do it maybe more than other teams. Boston Scott in 2018 and then they did it 3 times last year with Ross Pierschbacher (WAS), Joe Bachie (NO), and Hakeem Butler (CAR).

Also, being claimed doesn't always mean they are gone. The player has to accept the offer from the new team. They can decide to stay with their current team on the practice squad (a Bengals player did this a few years ago), or the original team could decide to offer them a promotion to the 53, too, to try and retain them.

Another quirk is that a team can't sign another team's practice squad player to the active roster if they are playing that team in the next game.

Welp, season hasn't even started yet and we've already poached our first guy of 2021!

The Eagles announced on Tuesday that they have signed cornerback Mac McCain off of Denver's practice squad to the active roster.

A rookie free agent signing of the Broncos out of North Carolina A&T, the 6-foot, 175-pound McCain started all 29 games he played in over three seasons with the Aggies.

As a freshman in 2017, McCain was a first-team all-conference and third-team FCS All-America selection after recording six interceptions and returning three of them for touchdowns. He was the FCS National Player of the Week after a three-interception, two-touchdown performance against Morgan State.

He earned All-MEAC honors again in both 2018 and 2019 before the 2020 season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. McCain ran a 4.48 in the 40 and jumped 35.5 inches during the HBCU Combine prior to the 2021 NFL Draft.

The Greensboro, North Carolina, native is the grandson of the late Franklin McCain, who was a part of the famous 1960 Woolworth lunch-counter sit-in protest that is credited for helping kick-start the modern-day Civil Rights Movement.

I didn't necessarily want either Jalen Hurts or DeVonta Smith in my Draft last night (12-Teams/20 Rounds, 7-8 solid Players, big $$$), but they fell so far, I was compelled. Very generous QB scoring (League was founded in 1987, and rules are largely still from that era)...I took Smith at 11.08 as my WR5, and Hurts at 13.08, because, well...what else was I supposed to do?

Can't really go wrong at that price. In my league hurts went in the 6th and Smith in the 7th. Wasn't touching them there.

This team is underrated both on the national and local level.  They could contend for the Division.  After a rough start, this will be one of those teams in late Nov. early/Dec. that are on the bubble.  They don't leave the time zone post DEN....they don't even need to get on a plane.

This team is not winning 5 games in a row this year.  Or winning the last 3 all against div rivals. Think you gotta pump the brakes a bit.

So pumped for Alex!!!
