2021 Philadelphia Eagles - Queued up a playlist of our greatest zits throughout the season for final game (7 Viewers)

Here's the simplest breakdown of our path to the playoffs (putting aside the few very remote/crazy 5th tie-breaker type scenarios):

If we go 3-0, still need at least TWO of these things to happen:

  • MIN loses once (remaining schedule: vs LAR, @GB, vs CHI)
  • TB wins NFC South (need 1 more win with remaining schedule: @CAR, @NYJ, vs CAR)
  • SF loses twice (remaining schedule: @TEN, vs HOU, @LAR)
  • LAR lose thrice (@MIN, @BAL, vs SF)
  • ARI loses thrice AND does not win NFC West
If we go 2-1, would need at least THREE of these to happen:

  • WFT loses once (remaining schedule: @DAL, vs PHI, @NYG)
  • NO loses once (remaining schedule: vs MIA, vs CAR, @ATL)
  • MIN loses twice (remaining schedule: vs LAR, @GB, vs CHI)
  • SF loses thrice (remaining schedule: @TEN, vs HOU, @LAR)

SF losing last night was a big boost to our playoff chances. Now, we can actually clinch in Week 17 (making week 18 vs DAL meaningless) if:

  • PHI wins Week 16 & 17 (vs NYG, @WFT)
  • MIN loses Week 16 & 17 (vs LAR, @GB)
  • NO loses Week 17 (vs CAR) -OR- NO loses Week 16 (vs MIA) and SF wins Week 17 (vs HOU)
Also, if MIN loses to LAR this week we essentially control our own destiny (assuming TB doesn't go 0-3 to finish the season.)

- Landon Dickerson has been cleared
- Mailata and Sanders will play
- Everyone else were full participants in practice
- Sirianni expects to be cleared and coach Sunday.

I'd also be interested in his initial assessments of Mailata and Dillard, since there was no football tape on Mailata to look at....and Dillard was so dominant his senior year in college.  IMO, Dillard just isn't nasty enough to be a standout in the NFL.  He was always a great pass blocker, but has had to be 'taught' the inherent nastiness that comes with dominant run blocking....something that usually doesn't work out.   OTOH, with some more time Dillard could pan out.  I just don't think the Eagles will wait.

Dillard's issue was he was in a Pass heavy offense and never developed much as a Run blocker. It was one of the negatives people brought up drafting him. I get why the pick was made but I feel like he was a reach when there were other better LTs there. Especially when Deebo Samuel was there, Jonathan Abram, Rock Ya Sin, Greg Little, Jaawan Taylor, Greedy Williams and AJ Brown were around there still. I wouldn't have minded trading back for extra picks and taken one of the higher 2nd rounders late in the 1st though.

This is an interesting but not surprising tweet. A lot of teams get infatuated with this sort of QB. They want to get the Russ Wilson or Randall and think they can be the guy to make said QB great. If they do they get tons of props and it feeds into the already huge egos many of these GMs and Coaches have. Their hunger to feed that ego is what usually cost them their jobs. If the Eagles truly do move on from Hurts and teams are interested I hope they are interested enough to give us a 1st round and other picks. Not that I think he's worth that but Howie has pulled miracles before.

My guesses on the Exec:

Den, SF.Sea possible, NO, Cle, ATL, WAS, Giants, Det, Carolina (Makes the most sense with their OFFENSE), Pitt. Tenn, MINN all could be looking for a QB this offseason or next.

@RobMaaddi

#Eagles QB Jalen Hurts has really impressed some NFL people. A Merry Christmas text exchange with a front-office executive turned into a Hurts conversation. “If they don’t want him, we’d love to have him.”

Just to go back to this post for a minute what teams need to do and we'll find out more closer to the draft probably is which teams see Hurts as a better option then drafting a guy this year vs waiting till next year etc. This years QB class isn't great. I think theres some potential there for guys but there's no home run like Bryce Young waiting to be picked. All depends on how a team feels and how overzealous they are.

Rasul Douglas is the new Al Harris

Schwartz was too thick headed to change anything to fit players. It what frustrated Cory Udlin the most and why he ended up leaving eventually. Schwartz was hard to work with. Douglas wasn't fitting the scheme the Eagles were running but half the time I don't think Schwartz knew what he was running with all the big plays we gave up. There's a lot of assistant coaches who worked with Schwartz on that team who deserve a lot of credit for putting up with Schwartz BS at the end and basically doing all they could to keep that defense at least respectable and competitive at times.

Nice win

I'm so happy devonta is panning out.   Never really had a guy I rooted for all through his college years at my favorite college team come to my fav pro team.   It's so cool.

Youngest daughter got me an Eagles jersey.....#11 Wentz???? :( :bag: .......I just told her thanks and didn't say anything.  Needless to say, she is NOT a football fan.  My true holiday present is the new grandkid on the way :)

Just happy we were able to get a win on such short rest and I really hope the injuries aren’t serious. I know much will be made about how crappy they looked but I almost expected it. It’s nice to control our own destiny and I can’t wait to see what they do in what’s essentially a playoff game next week.

I know y'all love to bash Siranni for calling passes - but sometimes you have to. You can't be predictable and run on 1st down every drive. Sometimes you have to be able to pass the ball.  Defenses are going to show you looks where passing is the right play call, and your QB has to be able to execute. Whining "why did they throw 3 straight times" is such an unbelievably small sample size to whine about.

I get that but the Eagles have been unprecedentedly imposing their will on teams. Do it until someone proves they can stop you. Don't beat yourself.

What's wild - in the offseason everyone talked about how bad of a job the Eagles were. Remember all that talk about how Jacksonville and Jets were SO much more attractive of a place to coach, because they had the young star QB and their prospects were looking up, while the Eagles were in disarray?

Meanwhile, 2 weeks to go, they are 2-13 and 4-11...  and here the Eagles sit with double their win total from last year.  A lot of holes and issues to fix, yes - but they are doing something right. Even if we miss the playoffs, the fact we are fighting for a playoff spot with two games to go is such an improvement.

Also proves they were correct in getting rid of all the crap coaches

Thank God Dallas will be resting their starters in a couple weeks.
It’s not a lock yet. There’s a chance they have to decide whether they want to rest players or play to win…just so they can play us in the wildcard round (and avoid ARI/LAR/SF).

We’ve been assuming all season the last game could be a rest game for Dallas but how crazy would it be if we’re the 7th seed regardless (and resting players) and they might be considering playing starters 😆

I wish I could find where that conversation was because I believe people also said the Lions were more desirable as well lol

Herbig and Howard should be ok

Sanders is out this week and Sirianni hopes “we get him back this season”. Sanders sent a tweet today that sounds like he’s done for the year

No new information on Brooks

To be fair the Jags hired the wrong guy. Right coach they can turn that around quick. The Jets are just never desirable but the media hypes them up constantly because they are in NYC or more important NJ

Kind of misleading stat when you see the QBs we've faced and which one's we've done well and which ones we've struggled against.

I like what Siriani has done so far with the offense but watching Miami design all these plays to get Waddle the ball all over makes me wish there would be more dialed up for Smith.

Cool stat:

Lane Johnson has more TD’s scored (1) this year than sacks allowed (0)
Sacks allowed this season:

• Isaac Seumalo: 0
• Lane Johnson: 0
• Jason Kelce: 1
• Jack Driscoll: 1
• Nate Herbig: 1
• Andre Dillard: 1
• Landon Dickerson: 2
• Jordan Mailata: 3

Whatever the Eagles are paying Jeff Stoutland, they should probably double it.

Seriously??? that's the Eagles' Defense this year?

I hope they use all three first rounders.    We don't need to package to move up to gamble on one guy.  We need depth.   And we need multiple chances since history shows our first rounders bust more than most.

My thoughts as well. 3 shots. Hopefully 2 of them are good starters. Maybe one turns into an all-pro.

All stats are misleading in some way. I’d be more concerned if these rankings were in the teens or 20’s. They’re doing what they’re supposed to against bad teams.

What a run this has been, pun intended. Everyone is growing together, kind of a beautiful thing to see. Still a large contingent of the fanbase seems "upset" we are winning, but winning is winning and I'll take it. Never have seen anything quite like the Colts/Dolphins 1st round pick scenarios ever in my life and most likely won't ever see that again. Went from a trio of potential top 10 picks to all of "us" - Dolphins/Eagles/Colts being wild card playoff contenders. Agree above, need to use these picks or at worst, trade back a little and ammo up more. No Russ, No Deshaun (also no need to argue to me why you think they are better than draft picks, you have your opinion). Miles Sanders can't catch a break and I'm out of puns. Lets destroy Washington!

What will it take for the Eagles to clinch the playoffs on Sunday?
- An Eagles win
- A Vikings loss at GB
- A SF win at Houston OR a Saints loss at Carolina

Seems this is the formula. Would be wild if we have it locked up and the Cowboys/Eagles final game is meaningless. Would be a battle of wits to NOT show anything.

Also for me, as a Long Beach resident* (put in "native" originally, but was born in Baltimore, for the record), would be wild to see a playoff game here vs LA Rams. Eagles don't lose in games I attend here in CA :)
