They couldn't get to salary without including Westbrook any way and I really doubt the Nets would consider that the best deal they could get.

Probably right, but if Pelinka is nixing ANY deal including THT, I don't think that's very wise.  I watch enough of the Lakers to know that he's nowhere near potential star status.

As a Nets fan I look forward to going back. to obscurity...it felt dirty to be the facilitator for these clowns.  It would have been nice to win a championship but not meant to be for the Swampdragons.

Sean Marks built them up from post King Celtics trade debacle - should be interesting to see if he can do it twice.

This time of year, the Celtics are always rumored to be interested in half the league. With the KD news, some speculation that the C's might offer something like Brown, Smart, and two first round picks for KD. Too light? Not in Boston's best interest?

NBA needs a rule that if you sign a max/super max deal, you can’t be dealt for at least 2, maybe 3 years.  i mean, durant’s contract hasn’t even kicked in…..

Free agent Jalen Brunson intends to sign a four-year, near $110M deal with the New York Knicks in free agency, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. The Mavericks never received chance to make offer, sources said.

Why wait an hour, right?

Well, there's the matter of forfeiting a future 2nd rounder

What are they going to put in the CBA that stops players from doing this? The owners could stop it now under the current agreement if they had any backbone.
They will try, at least.

Try what?  Codify not giving in to player demands?  Something tells me that won't pass
Last year Zach Lowe mentioned some ideas the owners had been workshopping prompted by the Ben Simmons situation. I don’t recall the specifics, and highly doubt they’ll be able to eliminate this kind of behavior. But you are nuts, IMO, if you think the owners will just throw up their hands and roll over on this.

You are nuts if you think the players will sign on with HUGE concessions from the owners.  And even then, it will come down to agents/owners/players not finding loopholes to circumvent it.  This is a self control problem.

Good thing I didn’t say that the players would sign off on it or that it would successfully stop this behavior, then. Nevertheless, it will be a contentious part of the CBA negotiations.

Will the NBAPA then ask for the same conditions on teams not being able to trade a player after signing them to a max deal?  Loyalty isn’t just a one way street.

The tricky part in this situation is how would you legislate against a player simply requesting a trade. Durant hasn’t sat out any games at this point to punish him for.

Edit - not saying owners won’t try, just that it would be hard to do anything in this situation.

Everybody is making tons of money. This drama is great for business. The only people upset about this are the fans. They don’t get a vote.

As we embark on this FA together, let’s all be clear I think Windy is the worst.
I think Chris Broussard is even worse. It feels like every topic he talk about somehow turns into a Lakers discussion. I like him as a person and I like the Lakers but I'm glad I only see snippets of him on FOX's youtube channels.

Marks really wasting his time talking about these Durant trade destinations. KD just has to say "I'm not going there"....and he's not going there.

He doesn’t have a no trade clause, so I’m not so sure on that. Probably the most valuable trade piece in NBA history given he’s got 4 years left.

He doesn’t have a no trade clause,
Really doesn't matter if he does or not. Players control the league.

You have ESPN's Bobby Marks talking about Raptors giving Barnes for KD, Zion for KD . KD simply has to say "I'm not going to Toronto/New Orleans" and he's not going to Toronto/New Orleans. These smaller market teams aren't giving away franchise players for a vet that doesn't want to be there.

I’ve heard people raving about the four years left on his contract like that is the most valuable commodity in league history. The Nets on the same contract had him signed for five years and got one season out of it. There is no guarantee that KD’s new team will have him for four years. He could demand a trade again this time next year if things don’t go according to plan.
