So Marks gives KD a monster extension that KD signs.....he signs Kyrie to a monster deal to make KD happy....he fires a solid coach in Atkinson at KDs demand and Kd essentially picks Nash as HC...MArks signs all of KD's buddies that he obviously wanted even if overpriced like D Jordan. He brings in Harden and trades away the future at KDs request then has to deal him for much less due to friction with KD/Kyrie - now KD wants Marks fired? Are you kidding me? Most ridiculous demand ever and KD has to know it...

As a Nets fan who was in the gutter of irrelevance after the Celtic/Billy King disgrace - Ill stand by Marks until the end. He made small trades and signings to drag the Nets to relevance....to a position to be desirable for max superstars....he hitched his wagon to the wrong ones. Im not a fan of Nash and would be fine with firing him but not at KDs demand. This is out of control and obviously a ploy from KD to up the rhetoric to get traded for under value. I dont think Marks and ownership go for it and they stay the course and wait until the right deal if offered....no matter how long it takes. Nets are in shambles anyway thanks to these guys - I have no issue with ownership taking a stand until a fair deal is offered. If he sits...he sits.

And apparantly the Ben Simmons text message meme about not playing in Game 4 was more real than satire -- according to Ric Bucher he left the Nets group chat when asked if we was going to be able to play in Game 4

What would qualify as an "illegal" handshake deal? If a team as a bad cap/tax situation, how is it illegal to tell a player that if they sign a contract Y1 we can only offer X, however, in Y2 with the cap rules, we will be able to sign you to Z. That isn't a guarantee or a deal, that is explaining the economics of the NBA and how it impacts the player and the ability to build a team. What is wrong with that? Nobody is relying on such a handshake deal to the point where someone will be sued if the other party decides not to re-sign.

I think the issue is more we'll give you less money that shows on the cap but we'll give you the full contract and pay the remaining sum by something else. So say Harden took 1OM less maybe off the books he was offered stuff like private jet, stake in ownership in Harris' other adventures. Free club membership to Philly strip clubs for length of contract etc etc. Off the book deals. In other words the NBA is looking into if the 76ers used other means to pay Harden if thats the one you're asking about.

Personally they should be looking more into the actual trade given Micheal Rubin was part of ownership and has been seen with James often during the season when he wasn't with Nets.

Apparently the Nets asked Boston for Tatum AND Brown in a KD deal. LINK
I wouldn't do it for either, much less both.

Durant has zero character, I wouldn't trust him with $100, much less a billion dollar franchise.

I'd trust Harden over Russ or Harden or a lot of guys. If Billy Donovan was insisting on keep him over others in OKC I won't fault a guy who won 2 National titles in college back to back and one of the last to do it besides Jay Wright I might add. On KD.

People hate KD for going to GS but honestly I'd have done the same thing. F the critics. Only left GS since they wanted to go another Direction. Felt teaming with Kyrie and Harden was a good idea. It went sideways fast. No one knew how bats** Crazy Kyrie was or how much Harden has lost, overweight and rather go to the strip club then play basketball. Harden gets traded for the most overrated player since Kwame Brown in the NBA draft in Ben Simmons who seems to not care about playing basketball and just collecting a pay check?

Yeah I'd want out of a ****ty situation myself there. People need to look at it this way. You left a job you really liked because they didn't appreciate you enough to give you the promotion you deserved. They instead gave it to the guy who kisses *** but frankly does less work and always comes in late and bullies everyone else despite your Department head sticking up for You. You go to a bigger company that you have tremendous success with. However your 2 buddies ask you to join a start up company that another person found. The company you are at now is deciding to go in a different direction and don't need you now anyway. They thank you and wise you well in your future Endeavors. You say hey this start up company sounds cool and I get to be with friends. After the first year though you see some cracks. You realize half way through year two your one coworker friend aint about putting in he hardwork and comes in late. He ends up leaving for another company and another guy with a lot of potential but really no ones cracked that potential of his yet comes in. You then realize your other coworker just doesn't show up. He hates the vaccination protocols etc and you realize he's bath** crazy. The new guy well he never comes to work and he acts like he works but takes all the credit from his team despite not doing any work.

You are now stuck in an awful situation and want out. You can blame yourself for some of this sure. But you need to do what's best for you and thats getting yourself out of a ****ty situation at your job.

It's funny. I'm appreciative of KD and helping the Dubs win 2 chips, but dude is a doosh.

KD and Draymond are the 2 NBA players that I liked less after listening to them on podcasts. Both are just completely self absorbed. It's no surprise they were drawn to each other and ultimately butted heads.

KD picked a fight with the wrong owner. This is a Chinese billionaire. The concept of face is central to Asian cultures. No way Tsai lets KD dictate anything.

The Knicks and Jazz had a fresh trade conversation within the past week about potential packages for Mitchell, according to sources.

There is no traction between the two teams on a deal, and no Mitchell trade is imminent for the Jazz, sources said. The Charlotte Hornets and Washington Wizards are also among the teams pursuing Mitchell, those sources said.

I hope the Wizards get him just to see that disaster.

Some person named Kristian Winfield at NY Daily News is saying the Lakers are now willing to give 2 first rounders (27 and 29) to get Irving. I sure hope not.
Irving is an immense pain and that trade would probably be a disaster but what are they supposed to do? Run that same team back and watch Lebron leave? That doesn’t make sense either.

Maybe more interesting is that people are saying Irving is suggesting only playing 60 games and not playing in back to backs as stipulations for his next contract. Sorry if posted already. As an NBA franchise, I'd want nothing to do with this guy.
He referred to playing in back to back games as “inhumane”. That word doesn’t mean what he thinks it means.

Lakers are retiring Pau's jersey at their 1st home game vs. Memphis this year. Pretty cool.

Oh, also they signed LeBron James to an extension that will leave them no cap space for the next 2 years.

I figure Pau contributed to the Lakers on a level commensurate with guys like Wilt, Jamaal Wilkes, Gail Goodrich, etc. He was also huge with the Spanish speaking community here in L.A.

going to LA for 8 days in December with a break in the middle to go to Disneyland. 4 nights in LA, couldn’t wait to see Lebron, staying at LA Live and everything.

Lakers are only playing the nights we are in Anaheim, like 2 of those nights and then the day after we leave. But hey, we can choose one of three ####ing Clippers games to go see. :wall:

I'd tell you to go enjoy watching Kawhi, but he'll be hurt by that point.

Obviously not the same since LeBron was the draw but the Clippers are likely to be the better team.

Oh yea but I don’t care about that at all. They play Boston one night so maybe we’ll go to that. Should be a good game at least but not what I was hoping for.

Naturally, before the season where the Wolves are likely to win an NBA title I come down with Covid for the first time. Not sure where I picked it up but I've narrowed it down to the Alaskan cruise I was just on or the flight home from Canada.

Why do people even bother with Cruises anymore? Floating petri dishes.

Hope you make quick recovery. On the positive side, not sure if I mentioned it here but a buddy of mine from school took an Assistant GM role with the Wolves a few years back. You're in good hands :championship:

FYI - Anthony Edwards, who averaged 21 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists on 52/36/79 shooting is the betting favorite for most improved player this season.

Make your time.
Really? He’s way too good for that award imo. I hate it when they give it to young guys who are obviously going to be all-star level players who are just progressing normally for their level.

That was the argument for Ja not getting it -- but he did anyway.
