2022-23 NBA Thread: “you’ll never let me down like the Heat did”, Miami fan says to giant pile of cocaine (5 Viewers)

Fireworks in the Cavs/Grizzlies game. Dillon Brooks rolling around flails his arm right into Donovan Mitchell's nuts. Mitchell then throws the ball at Brooks and comes up shoving him and then throws him to the ground. Brooks action looked unnatural/intentional. Both players ejected.

How do they figure LeBron won't break the record until next Thursday against the Bucks? He's 63 points away. Let's say he scores his average (30) tomorrow against the Pels. Do we really think he's not gonna try to go for 33 against the Thunder on Tuesday night?

Also, how sustainable is it for him to keep playing 36 minutes per night?

Put $100 on Giannis +1400 to win MVP. He's really good.

Almost as impressive was watching Wes Matthews put the absolute CLAMPS on Kawhi on that last possession.

That said, it's absolutely RIDICULOUS for the league to start a weeknight game in Milwaukee after 9pm. Totally unnecessary.

This guy is the biggest tool in the last 30 years of the NBA. Why would anyone want him. So he can hang out in ugly clothes on the bench looking at a flat earth map while collecting millions. Everywhere he goes people want him gone.

Nets should just say no.
If they do that- he walks away at the end of the season and they get nothing

I doubt there is a team acceptable to him with the cap space.
Once I get home, I’ll actually look into teams and salaries. My guess is that there probably are a few teams. However- the issue is that the market for teams selling pg’s potentially just changed. You have guys like van vleet, conley, potentially d’angelo being the biggest targets and now Kyrie kinda changes that market value

Here are the teams this offseason with projected room: Detroit Houston Indiana OKC Orlando San Antonio. Charlotte, Lakers, Minnesota, Sacramento, Toronto and Utah fall into the possible room category.

They’re getting nothing anyways. Who is giving up any meaningful assets for him?
You gotta think they already tried to trade him during the whole antisemitism thing. So if this screws you anyway, might as well take a stand and tell him to sit down and shut up because he’s not getting traded. Then he can see how much the Liaoning Flying Leopards are willing to pay him.

Because of that, it will be Westbrook and the last two Lakers first rounders that they own.

Who else would want him? It would have to be someone that wants to go "all-in" to win a title and thinks they are one piece away. Miami maybe?

I agree that Miami is a possibility. I’d have to look into Chicago’s situation. Lonzo might have long term issues so I’d have to look into their salary/draft pick situation. Phoenix could potentially want to blow things up

Kyrie is a massive joke but any team that wants him for any reason other than to sell tickets is a bigger joke. He's not making your team better.

The exception to this is LAL imo. Kyrie absolutely drools at the thought of playing with Bron again. He can't/won't say it, but you know he's been scheming for a long time to find his way back to Bron. I think playing with him is the only chance he has of not tearing an organization apart.

The biggest loser in all of this is KD. Kyrie drives away Harden, ends in an exchange (and massive downgrade) for Ben. And then Kyrie bails on him later on too. And KD is too loyal himself to call Kyrie on his crap, has always said the right things in interviews and stuck up for his teammates. Just zero loyalty from people he calls friends.

And now he's stuck on probably the worst roster of his career, and will be entirely irrelevant going into the last few years of his time on an NBA court.

Doubt the Nets want Westbrook plus they have no incentive to tank this year (or the next five). An expiring does them no good since they wouldn’t have cap space afterward anyway.

Rumors yesterday the lakers and Jazz were talking about a Westbrook deal. Just make it a three teamer:

Lakers get Kyrie
Jazz get Westbrook and a 1st and some 2nds
Nets get Conley, Beasley, Vanderbilt (not sure what works for salary, maybe Harris to Lakers too and someone like Walker to the Jazz)

This year they actually do have a little incentive to tank because they have a swap with houston and Houston will still be terrible, so they don't have much downside risk.

not saying that means they would tank, but there is some logic.

If I was the Nets I would try to trade him, but only for what I want. I am not accepting less just because he wants out.

The Nets still have the power here, there are only a few teams that want Kyrie and that he would be willing to go to. I bet all those teams need to do a sign and trade to make that work this off-season. Which means the Nets can say give us something or we ain't signing nothing.

Apparently the Mavs are targeting Bogdanovices. Both of them. That would be dope but Idk how it would work without having to give up Green, DFS, or Dinwiddie. I think Dinwiddie is the only one who either bogdanovic could be an upgrade over. But then you still lose the other ball handler when the whole point is to get a third one.

Thoughts on the All Star reserves? Not sure how much positions count with reserves but I'd take Edwards and Fox over George and Jackson. And probably Butler, Siakam and Brunson over Adebayo, Holiday and Randle

Western Conference
  • Paul George (LA Clippers)
  • Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Oklahoma City Thunder)
  • Jaren Jackson Jr. (Memphis Grizzlies)
  • Damian Lillard (Portland Trail Blazers)
  • Lauri Markkanen (Utah Jazz)
  • Ja Morant (Memphis Grizzlies)
  • Domantas Sabonis (Sacramento Kings)
Eastern Conference
  • Bam Adebayo (Miami Heat)
  • Jaylen Brown (Boston Celtics)
  • DeMar DeRozan (Chicago Bulls)
  • Joel Embiid (Philadelphia 76ers)
  • Tyrese Haliburton (Indiana Pacers)
  • Jrue Holiday (Milwaukee Bucks)
  • Julius Randle (New York Knicks)
