2022-23 NBA Thread: “you’ll never let me down like the Heat did”, Miami fan says to giant pile of cocaine (6 Viewers)

Nuggets are going to win an NBA Championship scoring less than 100 tonight, incredible
Heat should have routed them tonight
That's what 8-seeds do
Lose in 5
Miss open shots
All Star comes up small all Series
That's what 8-seeds do, they don't win NBA Championships
Still the Heat deserve a silver medal for all this craziness
It was the unlikeliest of runs in Heat playoff history.

I will take it. It was a wild fun ride and we finally starting shooting like we did all regular season…..and ran into the best team in the NBA this season.

We did have a golden opportunity to extend the series…but shooting 34% ain’t gonna get it done. If we get 48 minutes of Jimmy we win easily tonight…..but we didn’t.

Again hats off to the Nuggets. They had the much better team and arguably the best player on the planet now.
Hats off to the nuggets. If I wasn’t a heat fan I would have been rooting for them to win it all. Heat team didn’t back down from the fight but Denver was simply better this series.

miami‘s run it back from last year made it all the way to the finals even with some really bad injuries. Get ready for Riley to do some magic with 3 picks and a bunch of assets to trade. Lilliard to the white courtesy phone.

good game nuggets. Well deserved.

Great to see Michael Porter Jr. have an excellent game and finally get the monkey off his back.

Would have been tough to fully join the celebration without breaking through

Congrats to @Kev4029 and other Nuggets fans.

Congrats to everyone else for the annual tradition of ruining this thread come playoff time. What'd you think about those refs though?
Fact is that they let them play for the most part. Once joker got 3 they were scared to give him #4. Once that tone was set that you can “go hard” both teams did. This was a very physical series and the refs for the most part let them play.

I am fine with them letting it get rough. It's the NBA finals and both teams are exhausted. Let the best team battle through the chippiness. Wish they would have thought the same way on that terrible replay on the three though

Joker left his trophy and took his daughter. 😢

So amazing…congrats to Miami.

Never thought I would I see this .
Congrats. Well deserved. again, maybe arrogant heat fan talking here, but I knew we were better than the bucks, knicks, and Celtics. First quarter of this series and I was like “how the heck is spo going to defend that?” But, to his credit the heat did defend well and simply went super cold when they needed to be hot to beat a team like the nuggets.

Very happy at the moment. Just didn't think the Nuggets would ever be able to acquire the talent necessary to win a championship. Back in the 80's they had some solid teams but always had to contend with the showtime Lakers. Then they had some decent teams with Melo but just couldn't get over the hump and he just wasn't that guy to build your team around. And, of course, he wanted out after a while. It took getting an unheralded player who didn't care where he played and just wanted to win, then another exceptional player two years later, who formed great chemistry with each other. Then building a championship team around those two. Took a while but we got there. This is so similar to San Antonio's rise. I hope we can have similar success over the next number of years.

Did Kroenke think the mic was in her ear?

Dudes on a hell of a run as a sports owner of a bunch of winning teams.
Fun fact that no one cares about, my dad went to the same HS as Kroenke.

He was 5 years younger, but my aunt was in HS with him and hung out with him a few times.

Go, Cole Camp Bluebirds!

Loved the Jokic hugging and shaking all the Heat players and coaches before he truly celebrated with his team. i would like to think that's what I would do.
You NEVER see that. I noticed immediately but wasn't surprised. He is one of the most classy competitors I can remember.

agreed. same with Miami. They stayed on court to hug it out and didn’t go running back into the tunnel when the whistle blew. Sportsmanship. It matters.

The Heat were better coached than the Celtics, but talent wise Boston was superior.

And the difference with Denver is their defense. Aaron Gordon was their second most important player in this series. Dude made a monstrous difference.

Also want to say how impressed I am by the Heat. And not just this series. Honestly, they were a little underwhelming in this series but they were way outmatched. But I watched a lot of their games against Philly and Boston and they played with heart and for large chunks of time could shoot lights out. Don't know if they were just cold in this series or the Nuggets D just got to them but glad they weren't so explosive from 3 in this series. I've always loved Spoelstra as a coach. He gets the best from his players and teams. Heat fans should be proud. They had a great season even if they came up a little short.

i don't get to watch a lot of miami games, but every time I've been impressed with Spoelstra. if it wasn't for some old guy in san Antonio, he would be my vote for best coach.

The NCAA tourney games get Chuck and company, but at the end of the Finals we get Mark Jackson, then Stephen A, Jalen, Wilbon, and Greeny? Yeah, I guess it's time to check out.

Congrats to the Denver Nuggets. Congrats on the championship! 🏆

When Denver destroyed Milwaukee in late March I expected this was gonna be where we ended up. Aaron Gordon and Bruce Brown were so good all year, and MPJ, C Braun, KCP, and even Jeff Green had big moments. Every time they looked like they might be in trouble, someone else would step up and help. A true team effort. "We are not a one man team, but we know who our one man is" -BB

Jokic has been my favorite player for the last few years.

This was the next best thing to Boston winning.
I legit don't know if I can make it another year watching Tatum and co just jacking up threes. It's so awful. This was fun to watch.
I don't mind the 3's.

It's the defensive breakdowns, poor rebounding and turnovers that infuriate me. They don't have a leader.

It is sad that I’m saying this, I just hope Denver fans keeps its stuff together and doesn’t turn this into our embarrassment, but I’m guessing I will be wrong

The 2023 NBA Season is 1999 NBA Season, Vol 2.0: https://forums.footballguys.com/thr...n-with-birmingham-barons.804716/post-24517072

Didn't Philly beat the Bucks the next year (2000) in the East to go to the finals? I don't think next year's thread can handle that.
Don't worry, Embiid and the 76ers can huff and puff all they want, but that team won't beat Giannis and the Bucks in the postseason.

Stats and MVP hype are great and all but Giannis is one bad mfer that will absolutely do whatever it takes to win. Embiid and Morey can't lobby their way to a win over the Greek Freak. You can take that to the f'ing bank.

NBA Draft in 10 days. This draft is absolutely loaded. Especially at the point :towelwave:

Scoot is the no brainer #2 pick IMO. No matter who is picking.

Amen Thompson is as good an athlete as you'll ever see from the position. Love me some Anthony Black too. If he can improve from the outside, he's an All Star IMO.
Draft has a lot to like. Face of franchise types at the top and a nice mix of complimentary talent. A good draft to be in if you're looking for a PG.

kind of feel bad for Tim Connelly. I mean, he got his bag, but can't fully celebrate this team that he largely built. Props to Calvin Booth for continuing to put the finishing touches on it.

At least Connelly will get his championship next year for sure.
