2022 Philadelphia Eagles - Leave Gannon in Arizona and let’s run through the NFC again in 2023. (2 Viewers)

Nick Sirianni says no decision on Jalen Hurts or Gardner Minshew against the Saints on Sunday.

My take, he is limited again today and they list him as Questionable or Doubtful, but know he isn’t playing and want to keep the Saints guessing. He’s probably only cleared to start throwing, which allows them to get him on the practice field to play the guessing game.

bingo anything more going into this is just sheer hopeless speculation especially those with him on their fantasy teams in championship games this weekend.

From John McMullen:

Miles Sanders has been wearing a brace for stability on his knee in practice. Has two more days and hopes to ditch it by game day but said he would be able to play either way. Perhaps a pitch count may be in play for him.

Officially listed as Doubtful for Sunday. Lane and Maddox are Out. Everyone else, including Jordan Davis, have no injury designations.

Let’s get this W with Gardner!

Reassuring perspective from Dr. Chao on Jalen Hurts’ injury.
just saw a report that Jalen is at practice today. no details if he is simply walking around or what his participation level is, but would love him and AJ Brown to play Sunday and rst week 18

I don't think he plays. I think they start Minshew. No real reason to rush Hurts back when Minshew didn't play badly plus we're playing the Saints.
i hope he does. no reason to bring more pressure next week and cause additional stress. if he is throwing today and it had no setbacks it would be better to finally win the game, and let them rest for a few weeks, and prep for next opponent. let Gardner play next week against the Giants with whoever is healthy and can get some reps

We're playing the Saints We should be able to win with a back up QB. I personally don't care if we get the 1 seed or not just get in the playoffs healthy and win. If we can't beat the Saints with a back up we don't even deserve to be in the playoffs
This seems crazy to me. We either host two games to get to the Super Bowl or we travel to three games to get to the Super Bowl. I want nada to do with the five seed. Not to mention if you have to play week 1 you could be going in with Minshew. **** that.

Disagree...the one seed is HUGE. One less playoff game to win the conference, and you play at home.

Clear as day. The 5 Seed gives Jalen a better chance to 'not be able to win in the playoffs"

For sure, but if Hurts isn't 100% and there's a chance he could aggravate the injury, sit him and play Gardner. We're playing the Saints at home. It'll be their 2nd road game in a row, and the Saints haven't scored more then 17 on the road since week 7 vs the Cards.

This is where I am. Minshew should be enough to beat the Saints. Hell, if not for those turnovers (where maybe one was on him?) they probably beat the Cowboys. Save Hurts for the playoffs. What good will the #1 seed be if he aggravates that shoulder?

My personal expectations are still the same just win a dam playoff game. Media and nationally it's more of with the way they've played this year a fluke or bad outcome if they don't make at least the NFC title game or the Super Bowl.

It's not a fluke with 13 wins

There's been a lot of luck go our way this year especially injury wise and our schedule. After this season we got 26 guys hitting FA this season so this team is going to look completely different next year

My homers, how big of a game do you expect from Minshew mania? In the finals and debating him or A Rodgers?
My gut says he goes off for 300+ and 2-3TD....but I'm a homer/believer and not sure my gut is reliable in this :p

1000%. I think Minshew should win against the saints but is not guaranteed. Hurts is guaranteed win. I’ve been saying since it was first announced hurts was injured. ****ing nightmare scenario is that you lose to Dallas and then lose to saints. Then you are in a must-win situation against a divisional opponent that might (if they lose this week) be playing for their playoff lives. Then you HAVE to start hurts. I’m the last week of the season. Eff that. If he can play, let him play. Lock it up. Take two weeks off everyone.
Welp. Nightmare scenario is upon us.

Should have played hurts against Dallas and locked it up. This is precisely what I was worried about. Now you HAVE to play Hurts in week 18 against a doc opponent in a must win situation. They got cute and are paying for it. ****ing stupid

That was a nut punch of a game. Hopefully these losses make them look at themselves and clean up a bunch of things.
No lane really hurt. Penalties. Playcalling. Defense played a hell of a game after their first drive. Offense totally let them down. They should be apologizing for that performance

Still disagree. I think it was more being safe than being cute. Of course none of us have the medical reports or doctor's info, I can only assume he's at a high risk still. The nightmare scenario is he played last week or today, they ran a stupid QB run and he gets crushed again and is out for the playoffs.

Yea, this performance doesn't meant they should have played Hurts.
Minshew SHOULD have been good enough to beat NO at home. This loss is on Minshew and the offensive coaching staff, imo.

So who plays next week? It HAS to be Hurts, right? There’s no way you can go into the (all of a sudden) biggest game of the year with Minshew. He showed what he is today.

So last week of the season, the best team in the league all year long can’t rest its starters. It’s almost unbelievable.

Hurts plays no matter what next week. Lost the luxury of rest now.
And if he can’t go next week the issues are much bigger than we thought anyway.

I’ll have to wait for next week to play out to see if this can be viewed as good in any way. Had we clinched today I would have hated the idea of Hurts not playing for a month and having his first game back being a playoff game. If he’s 100% next week or close and we can get a win against a team playing for nothing maybe we can rest guys for a half or so and still get the 1 seed.

Ugh no more Minshew talk in here until the off season please
I hope we never talk about Minshew again. He can sell his fake shtick trying to develop his brand somewhere else next year.
He’s a decent backup. He just can’t be put in “must win” playoff type games and asked to do what the staff wanted him to do today. 2 Carrie’s by Sanders in the first half is just unacceptable with Lane out.

Plus you have to essentially create a whole new offense for the team with a guy like him

So, here we are that if we somehow lose to NO this week, there will be a mountain of pressure on this team. We will have gone from no-brainer #1 seed to having one last game to either barely hang on and get it, or have the dishonor of completing an epic collapse and limping into the playoffs as a wildcard team on the road.

But, win this NO game (while also avoiding more injuries since we have to go all out) and everyone breathes easier and there's a couple weeks to step back, reset, get healthy, and get ready for a home playoff game.

I'm not in full-on panic mode right now, but definitely lack the "Relax, we'll win this week or next, it's fine" confidence that many Eagles fans (surprisingly) have right now!
Panic mode engaged. I think the Bears game was our “midnight” and the rest of this season is the “everything now turns into a pumpkin” that we’ve seen play out in Philly sports the last 40+ years with the exception of 2008 & 2017. If JAX hadn’t upset DAL we would be the 5 seed today, right now, with no control of our own destiny.

Hurts is more likely to come out next week and put up a rare clunker or wind up getting hurt in a game he shouldn’t have had to have played in. Then we limp into the playoffs and go out with a whimper and lament what could have been. I’ve seen this episode too many times before.

Phillies had us on a super high before the eventual crash. Union had the MLS Cup in their sights for 3 minutes, before disaster. And Eagles had the 12-1 run in 2021 that then went off the rails.

Not to get too far ahead, but gotta think the Packers have a shot to beat Minny in round 1 which could lead to us avoiding Dallas round 2.

I don't think there's any way we lose next week. If the Giants had even a glimmer of something to play for, I'd be worried. Don't think they'll play a single person they don't have to.

The smart move for the Giants would certainly be to take advantage of the 'bye' and let key players get some rest.
BUT.
I think given our history and that last game of 2020, there's going to be pressure to play hard to knock off the Eagles from a bye. No idea what they'll do to be honest.

Hurts plays no matter what next week. Lost the luxury of rest now.
Well...not no matter what, of course. He has to be able to throw the ball. If his shoulder is still hurt and he can't throw, then no, he should still sit. F'in Minshew.
Right, but he was throwing with no problem after the injury and was throwing this week at practice.

This has generally been my fear for weeks now.

there's going to be pressure to play hard to knock off the Eagles from a bye.
How does that help? Dallas is just as much of a rival to them. Playing hard hands their rival Dallas into the 1 seed.
They aren't playing their starters
I didn't say it would help, I literally said the smart move would "be to take advantage of the 'bye' and let key players get some rest"
Ok i'll rephrase it as: Why will there be pressure to play hard to give their rival Cowboys a bye?
