2022 Philadelphia Eagles - Leave Gannon in Arizona and let’s run through the NFC again in 2023. (3 Viewers)

Two 2022 firsts, 2024 1st, 2023 2nd, Hurts, Cox, Dillard. Nobody tops that.
WAY TOO MUCH
It's only slightly more than what Denver just gave up for Russell Wilson, who is 7 years older. The meat of that deal was 4 picks (1st, 1st, 2nd, 2nd) and 3 players. This would be 4 picks (1st, 1st, 1st, 2nd) and 3 players. Our "3 players" look better on paper than what Denver gave, but we would also be gaining significant cap space by unloading Cox (who is declining) and Dillard (who we would take a 5th rounder for, in a heartbeat, to offload his non-versatile body from the cap/roster.) And Hurts is plug and play for HOU, which is what helps make it a deal no one could top.

Now, will it actually happen? Nah, I don't think there's enough interest anymore from either our side or Watson's, but whatever he goes for, it is going to at least be pretty close to that. I could even see a team like CAR going a bit above it.

Dal trading Amari Cooper to Cle for a 5th rounder teams swapping 6ths. Dal had to make th trade with contract hell. CLE takes the whole contract. Jarvis Landry is apparently being allowed to seek a trade.

Not a big fan of what Denver gave up either. I certainly wouldn't do it for a guy who just missed at least one full year dealing with personal issues of THIS type. Hard pass

Wouldn’t mind sending a 4 to CLE for Landry. He could be the perfect slot compliment to Devonte and Quez while instilling a vet toughness to an offense with young skill position players.

I don't use social media but, I do read some of the things that show up in my news feed. I'm a bit surprised no one has come in here yet to report/speculate on Hurts' decision to remove any mention of the Eagles from his bio pages and list his address as being in Houston. No idea if this is true or not.

I have no clue and I will not speculate. Just sayin I read about it this morning.

eta: One other thing, I'm still very high on acquiring Allen Robinson. He's much higher on my wish list than any of the other WR names I keep seeing in this thread.

Never was news. His twitter profile never had Eagles QB and he's from Houston. Non story. This was pretty much confirmed within 1 mins of it happening. Some guy from some trash website I've barely heard of mentioned this and for some reason their news keeps coming into my feed. Literally blocked the account. After the guy was proven wrong the back tracking he did was pretty embarrassing even mocking those who quote tweeted going after him. He was just trying to get clicks to the main site. Hurts IG account I believe says Eagles QB but his twitter doesn't and even his agent mentioned he never had it in his Twitter profile.

As for AR He's good but he's going to be severely overpaid now that Mike Williams and Goodwin are off the market. Rather the Eagles go after Chark/Juju, DeMarcus Robinson/Keelan Cole/etc.

Also if the Eagles can find the right defensive pieces in FA and the draft plus with the guys they bring back, I can see a big year out of the Def. Gannon's prep work and game plans aren't the issue and leaves a lot on the field for the players themselves to digest and execute. Part of the issue is year 1 of a new scheme/defense you don't have all the right pieces. Some times depending on the players and talent level you face year 1 its easier to get away with. With the Eagles they ran through a gauntlet of good QBs and offenses where they got exposed a lot. In some ways we should be really happy this happened though as we know exactly where we need to improve or clean up. Upgrading the Safeties and opposite side of Slay is gonna be huge.

CB's I'd like to see are Tavon Young, Tre Flowers, Desmond King, I think Rasual Douglas fits this scheme perfectly, and Carlton Davis

Safeties not sure we can get Marcus Williams. Marcus Maye makes sense on a possible 1 yr prove it and resign next offseason and our DB coach he's played with, Quandre Diggs, If you are looking for a hybrid LB/S Keanu Neal could be had possible, Terrel Edmunds, Jesse Bates and Justin Reid are also names to look for. Lookout for Xavier Woods from Minny as he could fit the Gannon scheme as Gannon took concepts from then Vikings coach Mike Zimmer and Xavier Rhoades as a CB wouldn't be ruled out either depending on price.

Overall the defensive players this year in terms of need in FA are pretty good.

In other news Former Eagle Zach Ertz resigns in ARZ

@RapSheet

The #AZCardinals and Pro Bowl TE Zach Ertz have agreed to terms on a 3-year deal worth $31.65M over 3 years, source said. That’s $10.55M APY and $17.5M guaranteed.

I can’t wrap my head around how Watson won’t waive a no-trade clause to come here but will for Carolina and New Orleans?  What am I missing exactly?

Dallas seemed to give Gallup big money for a guy coming off a torn ACL who seemed to be trending in the wrong direction. He was one of the ones I thought we could get for cheap too

Change of scenery was exactly what he needed.  Good on him for betting on himself and getting a big contract.  He wouldn't have sniffed that here.

Where the Carolina Panthers practice/play and where Clemson University is are pretty close (within 2 hours) so I can see that.  New Orleans is a mystery to me, maybe he thinks they are a QB away (maybe they are).

Supposedly the Eagled targeting JuJu for a slot WR.  I'm fine with that. Smith and Watkins outside, JuJu in the slot is a perfectly fine WR corps. Hurts will have to learn to read a defense and hit the right guy - that'll be what makes the offense work.

JuJu annoys me and seems to be the type to wilt under the PHI meatgrinder/spotlight rather than thrive. Maybe I'm wrong. Seems a bit TOO into himself for being a WR2 ceiling

Looking back, my favorite signing in free agency ever is probably Asante Samuel.

The TO trade *at the time* had me so geeked out though.

Not so long of a shot!
I feel good about this. I don't know enough, but back to back seasons 10+ sacks is nice. Hoping the light went on for him and he continues to be a top end edge rusher. First 3 years, looking at the stats, seem forgettable.

The #Eagles have agreed to terms with pass rusher Haason Reddick, source says. Three years, $45 million with $30 million fully guaranteed at signing. Max value $49.5 million.

The Camden native and former #Temple Owl is coming home.
Only 4 players have more sacks the last 2 seasons: TJ Watt, Myles Garrett, Trey Hendrickson, Aaron Donald.

That deal is beyond reasonable for what he could give them the next 2 or 3 years.

Most of that was position. He was a standup LB the first few years, but excelled once he moved to edge rusher.

Yep. Get back to basics and building these lines up. That’s the path to long term success and this is a step in the right direction and not a bad price at all. We struggled with sacks and this was very much needed.

And also allows flexibility in the 1st round, IMO as DE has to be very high on the "needs" list. BPA >>>Needs is a spot you always want to be in. Thinking the spending spree keeps up!

I still believe one of the early picks will be another DE or a DT
No doubt. And, because of investments like Reddick and a 1st round pick, Gannon is really going to be expected to have his D produce and not have the "they don't have any talent" excuses.

Yep. Hoping Reddick is a bigger upgrade for this SAM/Edge role that Avery played last year

If you're Jax though, why not. You got Trevor Lawrence and last year was a disaster. You HAVE to give him every chance to show hes the guy. Get some talent in there by any means necessary.

I agree with this. I’m also curious to see the guaranteed money. I can’t see him getting that much

The TO trade was awesome. Sit-ups in the driveway !!  Are you kidding me.
Well...that was the next year after he decided he wanted to rip up the 7 year contract he signed less than a year before. But, memories! Coming off the 4th and 26 play against GB and then we get TO.

Wow you're right. Looking back I remember thinking I was excited about TO.  When in fact I'm sure I was tired of him by then. I need to go back and read some articles about that time.
