2022 Philadelphia Eagles - Leave Gannon in Arizona and let’s run through the NFC again in 2023. (8 Viewers)

Really wanna see this team play in the Bowl, but TBH given pre-season expectations and the youth in spots, a competitive game next week signifies a good year regardless of outcome

Serious question here: This isn't against Hurts or Jones at all but curious why both can't be the same opinion.

Whole Game I hear Davis and Johnson talking about Hurts like he's a Franchise QB already despite struggling his first 2 yrs. Then Daniel Jones had some struggles his years to start as well. He makes a big jump himself but it's a wait and see approach with him. Why if both guys have similar struggles one gets annoited a Franchise QB but the other is wait and see give them another year?

Either Both are Franchise QBs now or wait another year. These are things that just annoy me about commentators and Media people constantly. No one is consistent. 1 good year doesn't make a career either way. You want to see year to year consistency.
Ummmmm....I've been very impressed with Jones this year and feel like he absolutely deserves to keep his job.....but.......

No way on God's green earth did he approach what hurts was doing this year. Now, SOME of that is a much poorer supporting cast (esp. WR), but his numbers really aren't remotely close to what Hurts did. You STILL have some serious anti-Hurts blinders on, and it's positively baffling.

A lot is supporting cast and coaching. I don't se Hurts doing this well say if he was in HOU or LAV or some other situations. Sometimes it helps a QB to be in the right situation with right supporting cast. Giants lost Sheppard, Golladay was a bust and for what ever reason Daboll wanted to trade Kadarious Toney from the day he walked in the door which would've been a nice player that they gave off to Andy now using him effectively. I'd like to see if NYG can bring in an AJ type for Jones and see what they can do.

I think he deserves to keep the Job next year similar to Hurts but what's to say happens if Hurts struggles next year and Jones has even a better year? People flip flop on things so fast it's actually funny.

Honestly this is our year to do anything. We have so many FA's and can only resign so many players with the cap we have. A lot of good players will be gone unless they take team friendly deals then fill those holes with not a lot of draft capital.

If I'm honest depending what's there at 1O if I can move back to at the max 4-5 spots pick up a few extra picks this year draft a guy there and then move out of the first with our other pick and acquire more picks I would. We need some young cheap contracts in here of good impact players.

We also could be losing our OC and DC this offseason but I could see only one leaving.

On top of that teams in our division and conference will get better and we get a much tougher schedule next year with a possibility of a game overseas which would screw up the buy week and all

Stolen from another thread but:

DVOA matchup was #3 Philly vs #21 NY Giants.

Higher-ranked team by DVOA has won every playoff game so far.

49ers are #2, and Dallas is #6

Even if the 49ers win I feel like the Eagles hold an advantage in the NFCCG. The 49ers/Cowboys game should be a very physical full 4 quarters game. Add in the travel for the 49ers plus the Eagles have an extra day for preparation and recovery. Vegas might have us as an underdog but I like our chances of reaching the Super Bowl.

Preseason I thought the Eagles had the best roster in the NFC but wasn't really sure they had the right QB. Lot of late August early September talk speculating if they would stick with Hurts the entire year since he seemed to be the limiting factor. Great weapons everywhere but would Hurts passing improve? Not based on what we saw in 2021. 19th in QBR and played like crap in the playoffs. @Maggot Brain was the lone ranger predicting 14-3, most of us had them at 11-12 wins and winning the division.

Things change fast in the NFL. Hurts was a favorite for MVP over Mahomes after Week 15.

Mike Vrabel reaction to the AJ Brown trade was prescient.

No weaknesses on this roster, best depth by a good margin. Eagles-Chiefs would be a great matchup but we're a long ways from that.

I don't get all the "window is closing" talk. We JUST started the rebuild, this is what, year 2? Yea, there's churn - but there always is, for every team. We have a solid young core. We have 2 first round picks. The schedule is tougher for sure, so another 14 win season probably isn't in the cards, but let's just enjoy it.

I agree to a certain extend. The current roster doesn't have many holes, but that will change next year. Ton of FA's on this roster. Does it mean they turn to crap? Hell no, but I don't see them being as dominant unless Howie works crazy magic again and other teams keep gifting us DBs in May. Just can't afford to keep the band together, but assuming this year's Hurts is future Hurts, then they should consistently be SB worthy for the near future. So what he says is right, from a certain point of view.

Sirianni just threw Angelo Cataldi under the bus for disrespecting Jonathan Gannon. About time people start calling that fraud out publicly. One of the worst things to happen to Philly sports and radio is that travesty.

He might retire next Monday. He only has less than a month. Little late in the game to be calling him out.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the O is pretty much locked up. For the D, Dean and Davis are key to mitigating that roster talent drain on that side of the ball that will happen after this season.

The secondary needs a youth infusion, but every team in the NFL has questions and needs to be improved. The Eagles just really hit it out of the park with their FA signings in the secondary this year.
Bradberry and Chauncy were homerun signings. Yea, probably wont be able to bring them both back. If we can bring back Bradberry though, that would be so huge.

Signing Reddick as well was huge, but he's locked up for another 2 years.

Blankenship is cheap and looks like a player - he got a lot of playing time yesterday. Maddox is coming back. Epps is fine. We've got some age on the DL, but Jordan Davis will get more snaps next year.

Honestly, we'll probably use our rookie picks this year on DL and CB and I think we're fine.

Sanders and Seumalo on offense, but yeah it's mainly defense where the big changes could be. Saying a window is closing is a bit over dramatic, but I'm assuming next season the team will be pretty different. Plus older guys getting older, etc. But that's offseason talk, I was just saying I can see his point that they should strike now as it could be their best chance in the near future.

The more I think about it I think we match up better against the 49ers rather than the Cowboys. I hope this 49ers/Cowboys game is physical and full of hard hits.

Top 8 RB salaries in the league right now make a minimum of $12m per year. You know Sanders is going to be asking for at least that if not more. Eagles will probably offer him $8m/yr with some guarantees. I think Sanders will be gone.

Gainwell, Scott and Rookie RB (2nd or 3rd Rd) will be our RB crew next year.

Really? How so?

Feel like SF is pretty much the worst matchup possible for us.

It would be the Cowboys' FIFTH Road game in a row. 5 road games in a row is insane.

They're much better on turf (11-1 Turf, 1-4 Grass).

They're much better at home (8-1 Home, 4-4 Away).

They're much better indoors (10-1 Indoors, 2-4 Outdoors)

They struggle a LOT in cold weather. They haven't won a game under 60 degrees all year (only outdoor wins were NY in September, Nashville, Tampa, and maybe SF today- all of which were over 60). Temperature expected to be around 40 in Philly next Sunday.

I'm cheering hard for Dallas today. Maybe cheering is the wrong word, but I want them to win.

It really depends on FA and hitting our picks. Like I said Last night I might trade down depending who's there with our first pick till Max 15th and our final first round pick trade back for more picks. If I can get a decent amount of picks this year and maybe get 1 or 2 next year and hope to sucker someone giving us a 1st rounder again that could help with Roster limitations. They aren't keeping Edwards and White unless both sign team friendly deals but they got Nakobe Dean to replace at least 1 guy. Slay is getting older and we can't afford to keep Bradberry IMHO. You might be extending your QB which is a huge contract. Need to extend CJGJ etc etc. They aren't keeping Sanders especially if Gainwell continues to play like he did and they can draft another back as well.

There's gonna be a few guys leaving this roster fans aren't gonna want to see. Kelce may or may not be here and who's to say Jurgen's will be as good?

Guys, tonight was F’ing awesome!
were you there?
Yes sir!
Whole stadium was on their feet the entire game.

Especially the Giants fans beating a path to the exits as early as the end of the 3rd quarter 😆

My Giants fan boss was really salty as the kids say today. My one boss got him a sympathy card and had about 2O people it and put in a losing scratch off ticket for him and gave it to him this morning. Also yesterday 2 different times a Cowboys "Fan" walked into the store and customers started the mandatory @sshole chant at them.

Don't let that clown go out on a high note. A friend of mine had a uncle who owns a bar Cataldi use to frequent and he got kicked out for being scummy and hitting on young girls old enough to be his daughter in college in there. Dude is the lowest of lows.

I don't think you are the only one saying it. I said it about 2 months ago and I think @The Noid said it around the same time too. We also could be losing 1 or both Gannon and Steichen this offseason. Those are pretty big holes to fill

I get it, I really do. But especially without Pollard, Dallas is a WAY better matchup for us. I want to go to the SB.

I mean sure? Yes, they should strike now and try to win, rather then tanking the next game for draft position.

Sure. The cold weather argument makes me break out in a cold sweat.

oh haha. That was just a final one I threw in there. Focus on their grass/road/outdoor record instead then. It's pretty mind blowing their splits in those things.

If the Eagles are on their game, they can handle either of these teams (Kansas City is another story). Obviously in game, anything can happen, a bad read, a missed assignment, too many penalties, etc... But the way this game is going, the Eagles are going to be favored by 5 points.

Not sure KC gets past Cincy. That high ankle sprain is s bigger deal than people are talking about.
