2023-2024 NBA Salary Cap Draft - SECOND Annual Battle for the Wikkid Cup - Preseason Rankings are In! (1 Viewer)

Yo Mama’son takes:

10.03 - Cam Reddish - G/F, Lakers
$2,165,000

Son of Yo Mama needs a Laker. Darvin Ham likes Reddish for some reason (maybe just injuries to some of the other guys). He’s bought in on the defensive end and has been a pleasant surprise so far.

Team of Son of Yo Mama

Guards - Garland, Smart, Jalen Green, Suggs
Wings - Herb Jones, Hart, Crowder, Reddish
Bigs - Giannis, Vucevic

PG - Garland, Suggs
SG - Smart, Green
SF - Jones, Hart, Reddish
PF - Giannis, Crowder
C - Vucevic

10.04 - Chris Paul - G

$30,800,000

A $30 million dollar backup PG is a luxury item for sure but none of the remaining $20M+ players fit my lineup as well as CP3. This has been in the back of my mind since picking Westbrook in round #5 but I wasn't sure I could clear enough cap space.

Russ will still be the starter because the first team offense will run through Edwards much of the time. Paul can lead the second unit and close out games like he's doing with the Warriors this year. He's been solid in this role and will hopefully can stay healthy with a lower workload.

I probably could have waited another round because very few teams can accommodate an expensive piece but I've gone back-and-forth a dozen times on what to do with my remaining funds and I just want to push in my chips.

You could not have waited. I had Burks/Paul planned to round out my rotation finally, or have someone take one and go a different route. Now my choice is made haha

I'm in an all day meeting that's fairly important (it's our annual review of all the associates at our firm) so I need a text when up. I will not be checking otherwise.

10.07 Clint Capela, C $20,616,000

Been eyeing him for a while, but needed to make sure I could fit his slightly bloated salary in. Looks like I can. Rebounding machine and gives me a nice rim runner.

10.05 Kevin Love F/C $3,835,738
My dog woke me out of my slumber so I could make this pick last night. He's probably a 100-1200 minute guy at this point (despite starting in Miami) but he's still one of the better rebounders in the NBA, a plus passer at either the 4 or 5, and shoots the **** out of the ball. He's more terrible than ever defensively and mostly a shooting specialist, but fits in well as an end of rotation big that complements the rest of the team offensively.

I'm here. I was gonna take Middleton, so give me a second.

Just kidding, he is terrible and pricey. Still need a minute though
He's pricey but definitely not terrible.
His 7 ppg and 22% three point shooting disagree
Limited minutes coming back from injury. Have you watched basketball before this season?
Like last year when he was also pretty terrible? His trajectory is not looking good friend, 37%, 32%, 22%, 20.1, 15.1, 7.3

Someone just picked Chris Paul so we’re clearly not above paying washed players $30m at this point.

Every time some mediocre $30M dollar player gets picked, I get kinda hard.

Was in the FFA 10 minutes after his turn came up and he ghosts us?
ya’ll are way less chill than Yo Mama promised at the beginning of this.
We have no clock and no one is mad. I was just curious is all. I also try to PM guys as a courtesy. If you are busy, no big deal. This isn't important in life and even I know it despite spending stupid amounts of time perusing this thread and on basketball-reference.com.

Sorry if it came across as jerkish, just trying to keep things moving as there are 20 of us involved with different schedules in different time zones.

24/6/6 in the playoffs shooting 40% from 3. There is a difference between being hurt and being bad.

It is very possible there isn't a difference for him. His knee(s?) is arthritic so he might be a shell of his former self most the time. If teams weren't scared of his injury history, he would have gotten a significantly larger contract this offseason.

He's been hurt to start the year, but for the last few years has been a good bench and plug in starter for the Heat. Fits the grit of our team:

Caleb Martin SG/SF

@nysfl2
I'm kind of blown away he wasn't picked earlier. He's been near the top of my short list at my 4 last picks. Nice salary for a dude that should have won eastern conference finals MVP.
Thought about him a few times. A bit scared off by the lack of information around his injury.

Torrey Craig, bulls - $2.5 million. Cheap outside shooter when I need some floor spacing.
He seems perpetually underrated and is a guy that I would think NBA teams would covet just a little more than they seem to. He gets left wide open because his shooting isn't nearly as good as his %age would lead you to believe, and he's getting kind of old for his player type, but he's a plus defender, plays hard, and hits enough of those wide open corner threes to not kill you in the regular season.

Just learned that he played in Australia for 3 seasons after college and didn't play in the NBA until he was 27.
