2023-24 NBA (Playoffs!) Thread: Celtics win East and now wait to see whether Luka or Kyrie suffer season-ending injury (41 Viewers)

Cool, well I suppose I'm the strange one who actually watched Pac 10 hoops and saw Bronny play. USC would have been better off inserting a log.

I'm sure he'll get it in the pros.

Why was LeBron court side last night in Cleveland?

He is from there?
Not what Windy says...
Is Bronny actually NBA material? Scary what happened at USC, they must be so relieved he's jumping to the NBA

No. If his name was Bronny Robinowitz you'd see a player who averaged 4.8 points on 36% shooting and never give him a second look.
Some guy got drafted from a euro league where he averaged 6 ppg last year.

Once again, nba looks at size, skill and intangibles. They absolutely do not care about your ppg number in the pac-10.

Buddy, I know LeBron is your hero and you think his spawn is destined for greatness simply because he's a "James" but Bronny is not an NBA caliber player. Neither was Jordan's boys. 36%......fella.
I’ve never said any of those things, Lebron isn’t my hero, he’s not even my favorite nba player, and his son certainly isn’t headed for greatness but I do think he can possibly carve out a role as a defensive specialist. I doubt he gets drafted in the top-50 though.

The immense hatred he gets for just existing and trying to make the league is beyond bizarre to me though. Wasn’t expecting you to be on that train…..pal. It’s weirdo behavior. The league will tell us if he has a chance.

Lol at "hatred". That's not an emotion I'm allocating to Bronny, I assure you. A question was posed and I answered it. If his last name was anything but James he wouldn't be relevant at all. You know this.
The ONLY reason he's being discussed at all is because LeBron wants to play with him and a team that drafts him might get his services for a year or two. You know this too.
I know we wouldn’t be talking about him, sure. But I do think he’d be invited to the combine and would have a shot at getting drafted in round 2. I sure wouldn’t be talking about college stat lines, because that is irrelevant to getting drafted. That’s been proven many times.

Proven how? What are we supposed to use, his driveway stats? Junior high? This is wish casting. Nothing more, nothing less.
Wish casting lol. I’ve never even seen him play. College stats not mattering has been proven hundreds of times. There is an example directly above if you want to click it. And no don’t use his driveway stats either.

You've never seen him play, but you think a 6'1" guard who did literally nothing with his playing time is NBA worthy? Okay
That’s right. I’ve said he has a chance, not that he’s starting for the Nuggets game 1.

Hey man they’re simply looking for traits and athleticism. They don’t care how you did against Washington State. If they determine he doesn’t have what they need he won’t get drafted but it really doesn’t have anything to do with how he played as a 18/19 year old. They’re projecting. All kinds of college qbs who throw for thousands of yards don’t get drafted or get drafted low. I know you know this.

I'm concerned Dallas looked so very tired last game. They looked like they dug down deep just to finish.
I've been thinking no one is beating them. Kyrie is playing team ball for the first time in his career- regardless of score- and he's so selflessly wonderful. Luka is outstanding and...I really thought it was their year.

I'm so concerned they're so tired though.

I'll go back to what I said originally. If his last name was anything but "James" he's not even remotely draftable. He is 6'1" in shoes and cannot shoot. Which would be fine if he did other things on the court but he didn't do those either. Not against Washington State, not against anybody in college.

But sure, he'll "get it" in the NBA where it's far easier than the Pac10.

Well, if Luka wasn't so insanely banged up this could be their year to get to the Finals. Dude is a one legged zombie out there. It's incredible he's still able to log a triple double.

Half the time as the Dallas offense brings the ball up and the camera pans upcourt, you often only see 4 Mavs and then 5 seconds later you see Luka hobbling up from midcourt from the edge of the screen.

I think Kyrie is filling the pure PG role right now cause the coaches see how bad Luka's moving, and they're just telling Kyrie to facilitate the offense instead.

And sometimes Luka is the last man back on defense because he's whining to the refs

“Hobbling up” is a unique phrase to say “He was late to the play because he was complaining to the ref.”

Sorry to be a stickler here, but this false.

Bronny James, PG, USC: With dozens of cameras tracking his every move, James had an overwhelmingly positive first day in Chicago, showing he more than deserves to be in attendance. He is in excellent shape, clearly having put on some good bulk from the end of the season. James tested extremely well athletically, with a 40.5-inch inch vertical leap that placed him fourth highest among combine participants, a 32-inch no step vertical (top-10ish mark), a 3.02 second time in the shuttle run drill, 3.09 seconds in the three-quarter court sprint, and 10.96 seconds in the pro lane agility drill -- all solid marks relative to his peers. More impressive was how well he shot in drills, demonstrating a clean, compact stroke and outstanding accuracy in the 3-point star shooting drills (19-for-25, second best behind UConn's Alex Karaban) as well as the off-movement 3-point shooting drill, hitting 77% of his attempts in the side-mid-side pull-up shooting drill.

While he looked bouncy in the transition drills, he showed some of his limitations as a ball handler and playmaker in the half-court pick-and-roll live action competition, where he was unlucky to run into one of the best defenders in college basketball in Providence's Carter, as well as some extremely mobile big men (such as Arizona's Keshad Johnson, who had an outstanding day in his own right) who were making life miserable on opponents every play. This was a positive day for James, who looks to be in outstanding shape and has quite a bit to gain in the 5-on-5 scrimmaging Tuesday and Wednesday.

I don’t know why you keep banging this drum. Jalen Brunson averaged 9 as a freshman at Villanova. He scored 28 in the first half in a second round playoff game tonight. Do you think players stop developing at 19?

Bronny may not make it. It really has nothing to do with how he played in January as a 19 year old against mediocre competition.

His final game that I referenced was played in mid-march. We had the same number of assists in that one, though he played 22 more minutes than me.

We will see. Nepotism is a real thing, so he'll get his chances.

Measured 6'1.5" without shoes, so probably between 6'2.5"-6'3" on the court.

Hopefully KAT isn't legitimately hurt. When he was trying to chase that ball out of bounds, he really looked injured.

You mentioned Jordan’s kids earlier. They didn’t get drafted or a combine invite. Doesn’t seem to help your argument.
