Maybe it’s better for him in the long term as he can take some time to develop with less attention, but the Spurs are awful and there seems to be a whole lot less talk of Wemby in general possibly because of it. Kid had 21 points and 20 rebounds last night though.

I'm a long time Spurs fan and man, has it been rough through these first 21 games, but they're a very young team (average age is 23.5, average player has less than 2.5 years NBA experience). I began the season optimistic they could improve +10-ish games and challenge for a play-in, but now I'm here for the experiments (Oh hi, Sochan ... love you). Throughout the 16-game losing streak, Spurs have remained must-see just to witness Wemby develop incrementally instantly.
Silver lining is we might see some G-league talent percolate up, thinking specifically of Domanick Barlow (I see Shane Battier DNA) and Sidy Cissoko (Boris Diaw DNA). Also, the Spurs have a ton of draft capital, AND assets that pull more draft capital come the trade deadline.
As a fan, I'm living the dream.

They got off to a great start and probably gave false hope on how the rest of the season would go. After the first few games I was afraid they were better than my Rockets. Good just to be grateful you won the lottery and have a generational piece to build on unlike Portland who probably set their franchise back 5-10 years by drafting Scoot.

I want the Pacers to win so badly. This is "real" money to a lot of these guys on this team. However I can see the NBA wanting a face on the first in-season tourney and so Lebron it is.

I got tickets for the Spurs game in Milwaukee on 12/19. My son is getting home from college the day before so it will be a good surprise for him. It’s the one game I really wanted to be at the first half of this season just to see the Wemby show.

No, it’s not.
They’ve combined for like 20% from 3. Lakers should have blown them out but they couldn’t shoot either. There’s only high scoring because of the 50+ fouls - not a good game to watch.

We can just agree to disagree- 50+ fouls, 70 FTs and shooting 50+ threes at 22% isn’t good basketball. Tournament was a success and fun but the final was a turd. It happens.

That was a fun game to watch—and I have to say that I was wrong about the tournament. I thought it would be a big failure—but there were clearly some positives to it. I’m still not a fan of the courts—but aside from that—I have no problem admitting that I was wrong about it. On a separate and funny note—there are a lot of tweets about how dominant “neutral court Anthony Davis” is. lol. He did also beast in the bubble.

The Pistons are horrible but so are the Spurs and Wizards - both of them with just one more win than the Pistons at 3 wins. Spurs have the worst point differential in the league at -12.1 per game.

I could see this. With the NFL at full swing and college football going, the beginning of the NBA season probably becomes completely unimportant or sleepy to the casual fan. I was skeptical about the tournament as I wasn’t sure that the players would really care- but some clearly did. For example, look at the Pacers. Even though they lost- I would imagine that a lot more people know about and potentially care about how well they and Halliburton are playing so far this season because of the tournament and its structure.

I also read that some executives didn’t want it to interfere with “trade season” when teams are looking to build their rosters for the stretch run.

Plus at the time the groups were announced, dame was still on the blazers, adams was still healthy and most figured the grizz would be solid even without ja, and the jazz were at least a play-in team last year before they shut it down.
I guess maybe silver made the blazers trade dame, kneecapped adams, and wouldn’t let the jazz obtain any point guards.

It’s the danger of creating the groups based on last year’s standings - lots can change year over year. The Grizzlies were the top “seed” in the Lakers group based on their top 3 seed in the West last year.
Hearing lots of people suggesting just using the divisions for groups next year. That probably also helps with some of the unbalanced scheduling that happened this year.

The Lakers played their assess off on D - that had a lot to do with the tough time the Pacers had shooting/scoring. I enjoyed watching that. On the other end, the Lakers are terrible at hitting open 3's, no surprise there. Until the Lakers come up with somebody who can knock down open 3's at a respectable percentage, they're not legit championship contenders.
