Correct. And that PSU game sure proved how valuable Stallions' play-calling was
Yep....That Heisman Candidate QB of yours really shined without knowing what the defense was doing. What did he have? 60 yards? One failed pass attempt the entire 2nd half. With Stalions, JJ was a Heisman Candidate. Without Stalions, he can't seem to pass his way out of a wet paperbag.

The mental gymnastics are hysterical.

How brave of you to call someone a “simpleton” from behind a keyboard. Somehow Im not surprised having seen your work on these boards.
How brave of you to take passive-aggressive "mental gymnastic" pot shots from behind a keyboard. If you've got a problem with someone's logic regarding Michigan/Harbaugh, maybe back it up by addressing their post directly.

I was told this is a good, reliable source for college football and game analysis.

Michigan didn't throw the ball for two and a half quarters because they didn't have to.

It doesn't help when national media "Steven A" says Deion should leave because Colorado won't be able to get line players.
Unless he commits a horrible crime or is involved in some kind of crazy scandal, Sanders will be able to recruit nationally wherever he coaches. He doesn't need to be Texas or Florida to get really good players from those states. He'll also get his share out of the portal. Colorado is going to see a big jump in raw talent over the next couple of years.
We know Deion can make big splashes…we don’t know if he can build a machine to evaluate, recruit, and develop…thru high school recruiting and portal management. He won’t sustain talented rosters without all of it. And if he realizes he can’t or doesn’t want to commit to all of it, try the NFL.
Exactly which is why he should stay at Colorado for a few more years. We love him at Colorado but he has made some questionable coaching moves in game and off the field. Do that at lots of places and go 4-8 or 6-6 and they would be going ballistic. Here he can get away with it for awhile.
Oh, I agree with both of you. I'm just saying that I think he can get into living rooms that Colorado coaches couldn't get into before - that he's region-proof. Whether he can do anything with the talent he has access to is a different story.

Guys, this is not a Senate hearing. Play nice. ;)

Connecting Stallions to in-game play-calling to JJ McCarthy's passing profiency.

Speaking of mental gymnastics...

Michigan destroyed a top 10 team on the road and did it so easily that they didn't feel the need to throw a pass in the 2nd half.

Tough to take that as evidence that they needed stallions signals to win.

They didn't suspend him because they have an axe to grind (although I am sure they took pleasure in suspending him). That almost sounds as crazy as someone trying to turn the sign stealing into an underground gambling ring trying to take down Vegas. Is Harbaugh really Danny Ocean?

If you read what Pettiiti stated. They did not suspend Harbaugh to punish Harbaugh, they suspended Harbaugh to punish the university and he is the face. Also states they still have "zero" evidence that Harbaugh knew anything.

He is in charge doesn't matter what he knows. It starts and stops with him.
Pettiti said that. Not me.

I'm sure there are social media sources out there suggesting that Michigan is in full meltdown/panic mode now. If anything, this incident is a pretty good illustration of what the "news" media in this country is all about these days. Clicks, clicks and more clicks....whatever you have to put out there, do it

Yeah, the big ten suspended Harbaugh for the clicks.
Well, no....they suspended him because the coaches/schools have an axe to grind and the new commissioner is pretty green. These "media" sources throw out all kinds of crazy **** without research because they know people want it to be true and they'll click to validate their desires.
Actually they suspended him because Michigan cheated and in the dumbest way possible.
There's actually a question as to whether what they did was actually prohibited by the current NCAA rules, or if they were exploiting a loophole in the rules

That's one of the reasons that it is important as to whether it was actually Stallions on the sidelines of the CMU game.

If that is true, then why suspend Stallions? Why pretend to have no knowledge of what is going on?

So if one game proves they are innocent then the fact the Michigan destroyed OSU the last two years proves they are guilty because OSU beat them every year before that.

Okay

Texas A&M is basically Michigan State - a historically agricultural school overshadowed by its more successful in-state rival - except in the fertile recruiting ground of Texas, with more fans and more money. MSU won 2 Big Ten title games, a Cotton Bowl, a Rose Bowl, and went to the playoff in a 6-year span. If we can pull that off, TAMU can win national titles.

Would you not allow that the SEC has been historically harder to win than the Big10? A&M might get past Alabama but they still have LSU, Auburn, Texas, Georgia just to name a few....that's a nightmare!

I think Michigan State and their fans are far more reasonable about their expectations than A&M is. You're happy with a playoff appearance and winning 2 titles in your conference. That's fantastic! You can bask in the glory of beating OSU and Michigan in that 2015 season - that's hard to do.

A&M needs to dial back their expectations. Take it one step at a time. Get to a championship game first. Take care of business when you play Miami. Don't lose to Ole Miss. It's one thing to be close to the peak of the mountain and not making it. It's quite another when you never get past base camp.
I hear you but it’s their money and it’s virtually unlimited, so who cares? I actually think is a great opportunity for them to just hire someone that can coach, because they can turn it around immediately. The good players are already there, it’s not some crazy rebuild. I like Elko a lot and expect that’s who they’ll get.

Then why aren't these good players and all this unlimited money winning now? Is the narrative now that Jimbo just can't coach and that's why they've lost 11 games in less than 2 years?

My question to you is this: The same people who hired Jimbo and gave him that ridiculous contract with ludicrous no offset provisions are the same ones who will be hiring the next coach. Right? All this unlimited oil and gas money was responsible for the desultory situation the football program is in right now.

Unlimited money isn't the answer. It hasn't been the answer for A&M to date. It's a mid program in the best conference. Even if they make a terrific hire, they still have to deal with Alabama, Georgia, LSU and now Texas and OU.

We'll all see how it plays out. I'm skeptical that unlimited money and great coaching is enough to get it done for a program that's never really been elite.
You’re describing Georgia prior to Kirby.

No, not really. Mark Richt had 15 seasons there before Smart arrived. He won 10 games or more 9 times. He finished six seasons in the top 10. .739 winning %

Sumlin lasted 6 years. Won 10 or more games once. 1 top 10 finish. Won 66% of his games.
Fisher also lasted 6 years. Never won 10 games. Had a top 10 finish once during 2020 Covid year. Won 64% of his games.

You don't want me to go back any further. Sherman and Franchione were disasters.

Comparing Georgia to A&M is like comparing a mountain in the Rockies to a mountain in the Himalayas.

Absolutely spot on. He's gaining access Colorado coaches never had before. Also agree it's yet to be seen whether or not he knows how to drive the Ferrari once he's behind the wheel.

I guess my biggest question in all of this is - why would the commissioner of the Big Ten want to disrupt the chemistry and chances of one of his teams winning a National Championship? Wouldn't having a Big Ten national champion in college football be more important than suspending a guy because you have an axe to grind or whatever other reasons I've read in here?

IMO, Michigan is a better team than Ohio State. I think Ohio State is beatable. I think at least 7-8 teams inside the top 10 can beat them.
I don't feel that way about this Michigan team. I think Georgia, Alabama and maybe - MAYBE - Oregon are the only 3 teams that can beat them this year.

Just seems penny wise and pound foolish for the Big Ten commissioner to suspend Harbaugh because of optics or an axe to grind or because they felt like they had to do it. With a toothless NCAA, who was going to come for him?

All Teams rosters are almost all new every 3 years. What happened years before is irrelevant unless the team is full of seniors. This is with all teams not just OSU and Michigan.

Michigan looks way stronger than they did 7-8 years ago. Very good o-lines, very good RBs and a QB who can actually run when needed. OSUs defense last couple years are not as good as their previous strong defenses. Goes in cycles.

Because the rest of the Big 10 thinks Harbaugh is just a big smuggy wad so it's worth it just for the humble pie?

Not the biggest story in the sport but the Gators are losing recruits left and right from their heralded class and that’s all Sun Belt Billy had to hang his hat on. Wonder if he gets dismissed if they don’t make a bowl and/or FSU puts it on them.

I just wanted to say f#ck ESPN.......they are a big reason why Oregon State has no home next season..... and now OSU has proven they belong by on-field results, and eye balls on tv.....so what does ESPN do? They take GameDay to frickin Harrisburg for JMU vs App st. instead of a top ten matchup in Corvallis that has major implications for the conference and the football playoff.

ESPN is bunch of cowards. They did not want to answer questions about the elephant in the room, by taking gameday to Corvallis.

At least its looking like OSU and Wazzu will control the Pac 12 (2) assets and the backstabbing defectors will get nothing.......I mean what a joke! These ******** took away USC/UCLA/Colorado's board seats when they announced they were leaving, but then when they decided to jump ship suddenly they should get a seat on the board, and get to split up the assets?! **** the defectors! Yea I'm salty AF!! Buncha schools making impulsive decisions for perceived self preservation, and then not wanting to live with the consequences.......these network TV deals have completely ****ed college football.

Edit to add: no disrespect to James Madison. They are having a great season, and it's a great story.......but there's no way gameday should be there this weekend.

I firmly believe this wouldn't be going this way with Delany still in charge. New commissioner is still really green and the squeaky wheels got more attention than they should have.

Looking more and more like a lone wolf.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Connor Stalions, the former Michigan staffer at the center of sign-stealing investigation by the NCAA, did not file any expense reports during the 17 months he was formally employed by the football program, according to the school.

The Associated Press filed a Freedom of Information Act request for any of Stalions’ expense reports while he was employed at U-M from May 2022 through Nov. 3, 2023. There are no responsive records, Patricia Sellinger, chief freedom of information officer at the school, replied in an email sent Wednesday.

I get the anger toward the networks and other greedy actors but the fans are as much to blame as anyone. College football fans and supporters demanded the game emulate a professional football league and this is what they got. My entire life the Rose Bowl was the biggest college football game of the year because it was the Big 10 v PAC 10 champion, until the BCS came along. Everyone wanted it, other than a few of us miserable souls, in pursuit of the mythical national championship. It was only a few years later we had teams like Miami, Texas and Oklahoma playing their bowl game in Pasadena. The PAC falling apart is the natural consequence of the decisions made 25 years ago and most fans not only supported those moves but demanded even more. It won't be long until we have a 32 team NCAA football league of fully paid professional student-athletes divided into two conferences with 4 divisions each, leading to a College Superbowl.

My prediction is a settlement, either before or after the Friday hearing, with the 3 game sideline-only head coach suspension remaining in place. Harbaugh misses the Ohio St. game but comes back for the Big Ten championship game and playoffs, with no other sanctions.

Harrisonburg, but yeah. They (JMU) used to be a rival of ours so F them! :D Funny thing is they're undefeated and they'll probably remain that way..but they're not bowl eligible.

Speaking of JMU, kinda crazy that there's 2 schools from Virginia in the top 25 but Va Tech or UVA is not 1 of them, and both schools were FCS until recently.

but they're not bowl eligible.
Yet.

They are not bowl eligible, yet.

(They will go to a bowl this year.)
Yeah, probably not going to be enough 6 win teams to fill all the spots.
By tonight, they may be the leader in the Clubhouse for a NY6 bowl. NCAA is supposed to rule on their latest appeal tonight. If it's denied again the AG in Virginia is expected to file lawsuit against the NCAA.

A loon who was given access to Michigan coaches on the sidelines during games as well as a slush fund to buy tickets to other games.....

And how quietly the news was swept away about Matt Weiss and the FBI investigation into cyber crimes. Whatever happened with that?

I know there is a clamor by some to return to the halcyon days of yore where traditional Bowl games were the end all to be all but does anybody really want to go back to a system where a National Champion is crowned by a vote and where we can have co-champions at the end? Not crowning a champion on the field is asinine and I can't believe it lasted as long as it did.

The Southwest Conference was once a mighty king of college football. It dissolved like 25 years ago and every single school with the exception of Rice and maybe SMU has tasted success in their new homes. Hell, even Houston was a thing for a minute.

I hate that the Pac12 is gone but the schools will be fine. Oregon State and WSU will find a home. The Beavers have a chance to play the greatest spoiler ever the next 3 weeks. Keep the phone lines open in Corvallis.

I don't actually think this. It is just as ludicrous as the Michigan fans that say the win against Penn State proves that the spying didn't help.

I get the sense that the struggle to keep things in the world of subjectivity because the world of objectivity isn't showing what we want to see is picking up or will be shortly.

It works if the NCAA is on board. Michigan gets assurance there are no further sanctions while giving up its claim for injunctive relief. If the story that is emerging is true - that a rouge staffer acted on his own and not at the direction of or with knowledge of his actions by the school, I think this works for both the Big Ten and the NCAA as a slap-on-the-wrist penalty and MU would probably be happy to put it to bed.

This was an issue that has nagged me. It's reassuring to see what appears to be resolution of this rather key point.

You can't be serious?

"You?" It is not me reporting this. This was on ClickOnDetroit News Front Page. This is reporters.
Why would the AP FOIA his expenses? They are looking for a paper trail to connect others.

I apologize. The way it is formatted it looks like you wrote the lone wolf part and then copied and pasted the article.

I will retract that statement, and say they can't be serious.

Every piece of evidence so far points to stallions being a loon

A loon who was given access to Michigan coaches on the sidelines during games as well as a slush fund to buy tickets to other games.....

And how quietly the news was swept away about Matt Weiss and the FBI investigation into cyber crimes. Whatever happened with that?
So your theory is that they were savvy enough to set up a secret untraceable slush fund to pay for everything, and then just openly bought the tickets under stallions own name and wore their Michigan gear to the games to be as obvious as possible as to what they were doing?

But why let something as unimportant as evidence inform anyone's opinion?

Would have never pegged you as a conspiracy theorist

Would you mind telling me how he afforded those tickets on his salary?

How many different plausible scenarios do you want? And don't get confused....I'm not saying he wasn't being paid by the school or the athletic department or whatever. He may have been. So far, the evidence doesn't really jive with that being the case.

Well, your statement was that Stallions was "a loon". So let's stop there so you can tell me why he was given access to the coaches on the sidelines if he is, as you said "a loon". Seems incongruous.

Then I'm just curious how a loon making what he made could afford these tickets absent any financial help. What's your theory if you think mine is dumb?

I'd be shocked if this happened, but i do agree it'd be a pretty good settlement. It'd also break the internet.

How about 3 plausible scenarios? Sound fair?

Perhaps one is that he comes from a lot of money and has a trust fund he can tap into to buy all these tickets, so I've spotted you one (even though I think his parents were of modest means out of Lake Orion). What are some other plausible scenarios?
