Hasn't that been the case for a decade now?Any sneaky plays this year in bowls where 1 team is crippled thru transfers or kids sitting out?

I’m wondering if there are any lines that didn’t move as they should’ve considering a bunch of missing talent…there were a couple that jumped out last year.Hasn't that been the case for a decade now?Any sneaky plays this year in bowls where 1 team is crippled thru transfers or kids sitting out?
Syracuse last night lol. I hit that one pretty hard. Saw they had a tight end playing QB and punched that one.Any sneaky plays this year in bowls where 1 team is crippled thru transfers or kids sitting out?
) predicted ...AlmostGT?Should be a great game tonight in Tampa. Will the former national champions succeed in reaching 7 wins this season?
Well, it's going to change now, but the initial approach was the top 6 ranked conference champions would get automatic bids (top four with round one byes) and the other 6 would be the next highest-rated teams regardless of conference alignment. In reality we are still bound by the whims of the committee and how they decide to rank teams so that part doesn't change. It's just more teams in their rankings now. Still going to be plenty of shenanigans to argue and get pissy about.Once you get beyond the conference champs
Are you saying just the SEC and B1G champs or which conference champs get auto-bids?
That doesn't look terrible but kind of what I was getting at with Ole Miss, Penn State or Missouri in there. I mean what about those teams regular seasons says that they should play for a National Championship.
I guess this system may devalue the regular season a but (but I suppose you can say that about a lot of sports), but perhaps the playoff games will be fun.

Florida State sues ACC over grant of rights, withdrawal fees, marking first step towards attempted departure
Leaving the ACC unchallenged will force Florida State to pony up $572 million in exit feeswww.cbssports.com
You're setting your own criteria, which is fine, but even if the B1G offered them half for the first 5 years, they'd be making pretty much the same thing they are making now plus they'd have access to literal billions in research money. Then they'd get full share moving forward. I think they'd be fine with that knowing how the ACC is viewed today and what it's ceiling is.Just as we (most of us) predicted ...

They have to prevail for it to matter. Then they actually have to be invited to join the SEC or B1G and get to full member payout status to make it worthwhile.
Also notable that the ACC sued FSU first, on Thursday.

Yes, the Big will be adding FSU, because Fox wants them to. Its going to happen, no reason to get caught up in specifics and details. FSU is leaving an "ironclad" agreement, period.
Eff BSPNFrom Nicole Auerbach
FSU lawyer says that ESPN has a "unilateral" right to exercise a nine-year option to extend its media deal with the ACC from 2027 through 2036. (Which it hasn't yet.) Right now, there is no guaranteed media rights revenue for ACC members past 2027.
Absolutely crazy. Espn can just dump the ACC but the ACC can’t renegotiate with espn. FSU is the first one taking this on. If they succeed it will be an ACC bloodbath.

Part of FSU’s legal filing charges that the ACC violated the contractual, legal and fiduciary duties it owed to its members by admitting Cal, Stanford and SMU, which diluted the media rights and diminished the already inadequate strength of schedule.
I guess that will be part of their argument for why they should be let out.

It's almost like FSU should have withdrawn from the conference before signing that contract. From Nicole Auerbach

You want to talk new markets? I think GT has the biggest weenie in that discussionAs a fan of another ACC university, I hope FSU prevails in court, pays a big settlement to get out, and then is not invited into SEC or B1G.
A point I saw made elsewhere is that if FSU prevails, opening the door for other universities to exit the ACC, there are other universities that would immediately jump FSU in priority. Not saying I necessarily agree, but UNC and UVA could be more appealing to B1G than FSU... both AAU universities, and two new market states. And some combo of UNC, NC State, VT, and UVA could be more appealing to SEC since those are new markets for SEC but FSU doesn't offer that.

Interestingly, FSU’s filing points out that very thing in order to bolster its case that the league’s media cache is diminishedPart of FSU’s legal filing charges that the ACC violated the contractual, legal and fiduciary duties it owed to its members by admitting Cal, Stanford and SMU, which diluted the media rights and diminished the already inadequate strength of schedule.

Those members are getting trivial payouts for several years ($0 for SMU for 9 years and 30% payout to Stanford and Cal for 7 years IIRC), which undermines that argument IMO. Will be interesting to see what effect that has on this.

Nebraska was in AAU at that time. Since then, I believe AAU changed their valuation of agriculture, which dropped Nebraska out. But they were in when added. FSU is not in AAU. To this point in time, the B1G has never added an expansion member not in AAU.
Would they even try to leave without knowing they had an invite? As a fan of another ACC university, I hope FSU prevails in court, pays a big settlement to get out, and then is not invited into SEC or B1G.

I wouldn’t have any idea, but it would seem logically that if they want to leave it’s because they have a place to land.

If it came out that either conference had offered an invite, they would be subject to being sued for tampering. No idea if that has any actual teeth, and thus whether they would care.
Is Notre Dame remaining independent/ pseudo ACC member?

Talking some actual football - very quick start for UCF v Georgia Tech.
Yea man, Fox is definitely going to pony up another 55M a year for the University of Virginia football lolNot saying I necessarily agree, but UNC and UVA could be more appealing to B1G than FSU..
