Schefter is suggesting Carson Wentz. Please god, no. I’d rather let Zach ride this out.

Wentz could be like the Batman villian Two-Face.....you MIGHT get a good Wentz, you might get weirdo Wentz. From what I saw from that D and the skill position players they have, I'd gamble on Wentz.....or maybe Nick Foles.

Just brutal Jets fans.

All they need is competent QB play and not sure Wilson will give them that.

Curious to see who they bring in.

He wont. He's horrendous. He was horrendous 2 years ago and he's horrendous now.

The rest of the roster is so good (I mean....they won 7 games last year without Hall, AVT, Becton and all the other guys they've added) that they may still squeeze out close to a .500 record. But its over. The curse continues.

Not having a competent back up falls squarely in Joe Douglas’ shoulders.

Zach Wilson should not be on an active roster but Douglas (and Saleh) appear unwilling to admit their mistake. They should have cut bait in the offseason and signed a veteran backup - Rodgers has not been the picture of health the last several years. And Rodgers can be blamed as well for insisting Packers sign all of his buddies even if they are terrible (Tim Boyle)

And as far as possible qbs they need a game manager, someone who can limit turnovers and can excel at play action.

Wentz isn’t that qb (and if they wanted to swing for fences in the hopes of a resurgence I would be looking at Jameis Winston)

I’d be looking at Andy Dalton or Jacoby Brisset. Matt Ryan would get obliterated behind that O Line.

Wentz > Wilson
Ryan > Wilson
Flacco = Wilson

Wentz is garbage but I'd take him over Wilson. He might be the best and cheapest option they have.

Trade for Brissett ? Howell looks like the man in Washington now, don’t think his contract was too much and he looked steady for the Browns last year across multiple games. With your D etc he could be enough ? Just an idea

Washington is not trading away their veteran backup while Rivera is coaching for his job - Howell looked good but he's not exactly established yet.

Mills, I suppose is possible - but he's really not very good. I can't see going out and bringing in a Mills level QB and handing him the job after spending the offseason talking about "next man up"- even though he's likely better than Wilson.

Kirk Cousins or Matt Stafford are interesting possibilities - but not sure what the Jets would need to pay, given their desperation and those team not exactly giving up on the season yet.

Wentz
Winston
Dalton
Brissett
Mills
Heinicke
Rivers
Ryan
Stafford?
Cousins?

Missing anybody?

These are all better options than Zach.

I can't bear another season of watching this guy play quarterback.

At least with Jameis (who I think I advocated for last time this came up) you'll be entertained aerially.

They do have an extra 1st rounder in their budget that they previously didn't anticipate having.....

Put me in the Jameis camp by the way. He seems like he's been dying to get another shot, seems to have matured, and IIRC had improved on his reads quite a bit after getting eye surgery a few years back. He's a clown [in a good way now] that could likely handle the inherent media pressure here the way ARod did. I think he would come in here beyond motivated to show his true potential, and the boys could certainly rally around a personality like his. Better than bringing someone literally off the street as all of those candidates are old/immobile and will get killed behind our oline, not to mention the time it would take to onboard the playbook - you could argue it wouldn't even net an upgrade over Zach until halfway through the season.

Winston or Dalton for me.

Sorry guys. Injuries suck.
I second this, sorry guys
That sucks for all NFL fans
Yeah it sucks. Legit SB contender with AR.
We don't know that. Rodgers might have sucked this year. We'll never know.
Correct. We'll never know. It's too bad. But the Jets dropped back to pass 3 times and Rodgers was hit on all 3 of them. Not sure Rodgers would have survived the season at that rate anyway.

You've been trolling Rodgers to the Jets since the beginning - like a bitter ex-girlfriend.

Can you please do it in the Rodgers thread and not here. We're not interested in your personal issues.

Just listing all the guys listed in the thread. I think Heinicke would be better than Wilson, and you know how I feel about Heinicke and his popgun arm. He'd at least have accuracy within twenty yards and can read a defense. Right now, everybody you find is going to have serious warts.

I know everyone thinks Zach Wilson sucks (and so do I) but he didnt look terrible last night. One bad throw that was intercepted. If anything the offensive line looked terrible and he was able to make a few nice plays avoiding sacks. Rodgers wouldve gotten murdered all night. Lets just put it this way, Wilson wasnt the worst QB on the field last night.

How about trading a significant amount for Dorian Thompson-Robinson?

You just saw him in preseason and he lit you up. Try and pry him from the Browns somehow.

This is just my opinion, but I feel pretty confident about it:

The corny ginger would be a really bad fit with Jets fans.
No question. What the team needs is a steady veteran, team-first guy that can continue to mentor Zach and credibly take over if necessary. This is not Wentz.

Missing anybody?
Yes! :) I think Ryan Tannehill is already in a hold the fort while Levis gets better prepared. If the Jets offered up serious draft capital, perhaps TEN signs him to a bonus if the jets can't pay him? Given your list, he'd by far, present them their best chance.
Even if the Titans are willing to move on from Tannehill, they're not going to do so at this point after week 1 and not seeming to have much faith in Willis or Levis yet. By the time the Titans are willing to move on, it might be too late for the Jets to even consider it (if they are even interested).

I could see the Jets bringing in someone as insurance policy for Wilson but not to supplant him, at least immediately. The O Line won't be getting massively better any time soon and a less mobile veteran won't improve this offense's prospects that much. They could absolutely look at signing a guy like McCoy.

I draw the line there. Colt McCoy gives you the same problem that Wilson gives you. Total disrespect for the passing game. What I'd rather have is a guy that can air it out but has a tendency to play hero ball. Get him to understand he's only making twenty-five throws a game and to eat the ball with this defense and live to fight another day, another series.

I think Winston and the uber-ginger Dalton really give them the most fightin-est chance and both can be had for a reasonable price, I'd assume.

Good call - McCoy is probably the type of guy they'll be looking at.

Not sure what Winston's situation is but I don't see the Panthers giving away Dalton because they need that insurance behind Young. Winston would be as close to a home run for this offense as possible but again, not sure what it would take to close that deal.

Let's hope not.

I wasn't rooting for the Jets to win a lot of games this season with Rodgers, but after the injury I found myself rooting for them last night.

I think it'd be awesome if they made a deep playoff run with Wilson, just to show they didn't really need Rodgers after all.

Schefter is suggesting Carson Wentz. Please god, no. I’d rather let Zach ride this out.
is that because you would rather let Zach get the reps on the off chance that he can still turn it around? I would think that Wentz would give them a better chance this year, even though he would probably be similarly maddening.

I'm probably just a little over-emotional but I just don't like the idea of Wentz. I think you are right though, he at least gives them some chance and he is "free" so I would be ok bringing him in.

Teddy Bridgewater. I would think he is the most likely QB of the ones already on a team. He is on a one year contract and doesn’t need to be the veteran presence in his current QB room.

I am not emotional about this and don't think he will be an improvement over Wilson.

It is a dart throw, you can bring him in and hope for 2021 wentz. He has had flashes throughout his career.

I just don't see how the Jets can expect to move forward with Wilson. They admitted, as a franchise, he wasn't the guy to get them where they want to go by bringing in Rodgers. Huge credit to the Jets for winning that game, but Allen was so so bad. All the Bills needed was 3 points and he just kept throwing up deep 50/50 balls .
