Unless there is a team revolt - which frankly is possible - I think they want to give Saleh and JD a mulligan and give them next year with Arod. He's going to get destroyed each week he stands up there and defends Wilson. Joe Namath who rarely says a bad word about the Jets went on radio and basically said cut Zach and fire everyone lol.

I just dont see either Saleh or JD fired though no matter what - like it or not this franchise is tied to Rodgers and hes not coming back to a new regime. I think Jets fans are going to have to deal with the crazy facts that this regime is going to be here next year no matter what and for some reason they are going to send Zach out there each week.

I agree with almost everything you say here. I would have swung for the fences with Carson Wentz. Sure he could implode- but we’re living with that anyway - but he could also continue making G. Wilson a star. He’d have decent weapons here and he’s mobile enough to deal with line issues (the line actually wasn’t bad against the Pats. Wilson was).

Outside of him, I’ve said no QB is coming in and taking the Jets to the playoffs.

Maybe I’m wrong and Siemian is competent enough to game manger them to the playoffs - but I’d honestly expect him to be slightly better than Zach and the new worst QB in the league - behind many backups.

Regarding Cousins, I recall reading that he has a no trade clause.
If true why would he waive it?

Two weeks ago I was thinking that the Jets should stick with Wilson because (a) there's nobody better available and (b) maybe Wilson will turn out to be okay. After the last couple of games I realize I was wrong and I see where you guys were coming from now. Yeah, he's brutal, and you have some A-tier talent on this offense that deserves better than this. If not for this season, then for their development for next season.

I don't know why Wilson plays competently against the Bills and nobody else.

After the first three weeks of the season that's no longer the case. Wilson has regressed from last year. He should not be on an NFL roster. He should not be on an NFL practice squad. He is the worst QB in the league. Nathan Peterman is a better qb than him.

I would have tried a hail mary with Wentz. We'll never know why they didnt and honestly at this point, I dont much care. The team threw all their chips in the middle and lost after 4 plays. Life of a Jets fan. The entire system was built around Rodgers and now they have nothing. My only hope is that we see some key developments over the rest of the year and carry over to next season.

No major injuries that will bleed into next season.
Becton in particular stays healthy and plays well, leading to them signing him to a reasonable contract.
Tippman continues to play and establishes himself as a locked in starter for next year.
Saleh realizes that it makes a lot more sense to give reps to guys like Ruckert, Gipson, Abinikanda and Brownlee (instead of Uzamah, Cobb and Cook) so they can see what they have.
Just make AVT the full time RT at this point(unless Becton sticks and they spend their first rounder on a tackle), I think. He's good enough to play there at a high level, so just make it happen.
Hope G. Wilson isn't so demorailized from this season that he never recovers.

I was suggesting that they draft one to sit behind Rodgers next year (vs giving him the help at WR or OL that they SHOULD have done this year, injury notwithstanding) while bringing in a real back up QB - not bring that QB in to start immediately.

If we're going to legitimately repeat this season's attempt next year, do it the right way with a fresh young QB who isn't going to get insta-ruined by this franchise by being forced to play way before they are ready while simultaneously having no developmental support. We can compete next year while also getting ready for life after Rodgers, but this time with it not being an already known bust like Wilson.

I understand we have zero track record of developing a franchise QB that we drafted but that does not change the fact that we still need to do it. Next year would present the rare circumstance where we wouldn't have to throw them right into the fire, while also getting some mentoring from Rodgers who seemed happy to oblige in that role with Zach. BECAUSE we never hire the offensive/QB minded HC, I think it becomes all that more opportunistic to try to utilize Rodgers for that role while he finishes up his career. A rookie QB learning for a season (or 2) under Rodgers
might help make them more resistant to getting Jetted into incompetence once Rodgers retires. Jordan Love certainly looks to be benefitting from sitting and learning.

The idea of chasing a veteran stopgap while also thinking you've got a Super Bowl roster to surround him with at exactly the right time hardly ever works. Everyone wants to point to Brady, but he's legitimately incomparable to anyone else, ever. Even Stafford with the Rams was hardly a stopgap move, and also coincided with teaming up with one of the true "QB guru" type head coaches out there.

Starting to get on board with the end of the Saleh era. Rodgers going out shouldn't affect this allegedly vaunted defense and they've already totally quit. Either they're simply not that talented (which I'm not sure I believe) or they've given up knowing that they can't win without Rodgers anyway. And if that's the case, that's coaching.

Have to give Zach credit for playing his best game of his career on the big stage against the defending champs. He made a few mistakes as usual, but hung in there, made some good throws, and actually showed some poise. I agree with you though that I'm not ready to say he's truly turned the corner - we've seen this before after a good game or two. Next week at Denver, even against a terrible defense, will be a good litmus test.

Would rather discuss Zach though than that non-holding call on Jermaine on 3rd and 22. I think he's still being held as we speak.

I think the problem is that he has so far to go that he can't possibly keep up with how good the team is. It's not that he's such a no-talent *** clown that the book is open and shut on him forever and ever amen. It's that they're asking him to do things still above his pay grade as far as reading situations and defenses go.

He was so far behind from the beginning. I'd say he was a bad pick, but he was a bad pick only if you were punting the position. Mac Jones looked worse than he did (if that's possible) against the Cowboys yesterday. A pick six, a strip sack for a touchdown, and just mind-boggling throws like Wilson threw.

This is where the mental side of the position - and coaching - is so critical. As bad as Zach had it when he first was drafted, Trevor had it even worse under the tutelage of Urban Meyer. Trevor has managed to put it behind him and turn the corner (even if he's not having a great season), while Zach hasn't put it behind him at all, notwithstanding last night. Both guys have immense physical talent, but Trevor seems to have it ("it" meaning a good mental feel for the position as well as good coaching) a lot more than Zach does.

Turned it back on for the 2nd half. Zach obviously looked better but still made the critical mistake. Whatever, I'm not convinced. I honestly think he just blacked out for 20 minutes and played well.

And honestly it doesn't matter because unless you have a top 10 qb the refs will find a way to take it from you.

Zach played very well, he's taken more abuse then I can recall for a NY sports athlete and is still standing, gotta give him props for that. Was a shame he didn't get the ball back to get one more crack at redemption, incredible game by the refs, really awful stuff.
