2023 Philadelphia Eagles - Complete waste of a season finally comes to an end. (5 Viewers)

Good Luck tonight Philly fans, I'm dumb enough to feel like Miami has a legit shot
I think the key is Swift and also Hurts on 3rd down situations and his ability to scramble and make plays

I would like to see Miami win but more importantly I want to see both teams get off the field in one piece.
This game will not matter at the end of the season but it's a fun exhibition tonight with a couple of teams that some consider Super Bowl contenders
May the best team win.

Good luck to you, too! I want a good game, more than anything. Invisible refs, good sharp play from both teams, no injuries and a game that just comes down to who executes better.

This is a chance for both teams to cement themselves as being Super Bowl contenders. Philly has a lot of question marks, especially on Offense. RZ issues, Jalen looking uncomfortable this year, running game bogging down since Jurgens got hurt.

MIA has had great games against DEN and CAR, lost against the Bills. This game gives them a chance at showing out as a legitimate elite team. They come into Philly and put up 30+, they quiet a lot of the doubters.

My hope is that Tua doesn’t get clean looks at anybody all game and Jalen Carter makes his presence felt. Sydney Brown has a pick-6! 💪

Miami absolutely has a legit shot. Eagles secondary has no real answer for the speed they’re going to face tonight. The only chance they have is that the Dline gets home a bunch and forced some mistakes.

The birds get stuck in neutral when they get in the RZ. If that doesn’t change tonight Miami will eat our lunch. Good luck bud! It’s gonna be a great game!

Both of you get outta here with that nice-n-neutral stuff lol. I want to win! Badly! By a lot!

Oh, Philly’s winning- no doubt. I’m just trying to be gracious before taking MoP’s soul.

The field looked like a time warp during warmups seeing the players out there in the Kelly greens and silver pants, the midfield logo, and the end zones. Felt like I was at a game at the Vet!

Good solid win. Another somewhat flukey turnover leading to 7 points....but Jalen should have been able to avoid that as the Dolphin was commited to jumping/blocking. Jalen should have been able to pull that back and probably sidestep/reload. (The pass blocked wasn't flukey, it landing in a defenders hands was)
Overall not a bad game from hurts though. And GREAT effort by the defense. HOnestly couldn't see a scenario where the defense held that offense to just 10 points. Waddle gimpy for much of the game helped, but clearly wasn't the whole reason

Tua is great. But just a bit of pressure and he folds

I'm sold on Desai! Still not a huge fan of the Fangio Defense, but can't argue with results. Love how he makes adjustments, and love this Dline in the 4th Qtr of games, pinning their ears back and wreaking havoc on teams.

Don't remember them ever mentioning during the broadcast, but Hurts came out late in the second half wearing a brace on the left knee. Apparently got hurt and played through it.

I did like how Siriani was about to punt it away on the 4th and short with 7 mins to go but then suddenly had a revelation. "Wait a minute, we can win the game on this drive and the tush push is unstoppable."

He woke up before he made a potentially game losing decision.

Apparently reporting that it was hurt prior to the game. Tried it out w/out a brace and then put one on at halftime.

That makes sense. He had one play in the 2nd drive where he slid to avoid contact and looked like he got up a little gimpy. I hope this isn't like the shoulder last year.

Gotta say, holding that offense to 10 points is pretty ****ing remarkable. I’ll ding Jalen a bit for that int but honestly that’s another flukey turnover that resulted in points.

The fumble too. Hes got to clean up the turnovers. Has he gone a game this year without one? I love the guy but it's getting kinda ridiculous

Huge win here. Great team effort and Sean Desai called an amazing game. My thoughts overall:

Miami was averaging 500 yards a game and 180+ rushing yards per game, 38 points per game.

The Eagles held them to: 244 totaly yards, 45 rushing yards and 10 offensive points. Just shut them down.

Jalen Carter is the catalyst for this defense. He and Davis just play so well together. Collapsing the interior of the pocket frequently allows for everyone else to eat. Nolan Smith got in on the action, Sweat had 2 sacks this week. It really is a pick your poison kind of choice for offenses b/c we have such a deep and I think most would agree, probably the best Dline in the entire league.

Hassan Reddick's impact since his cast was removed is hard to define. He was GREAT in run support last night and is always buzzing in the QB's ear. He set the tone early with a few TFL's and really let them know that you are not running to his side. The few decent runs Miami did have, I believe was when Reddick was taking a breather.

Eli Ricks looks like a future starting CB on the outside. What he did against Tyreek Hill, as an UDFA rookie was really really impressive.

AJ Brown man. I mean what more needs to be said. To me, the 2 best WR's in the entire league played last night and he showed out under the bright lights. Its hard to believe his season this year may surpass what he did in his first season. 5 straight games of 125+ yards, tying Calvin Johnson is something to be proud of and impressed by. He is a quintessential "size/speed" guy and for the most part, is not guardable. He's just a bully. Has a good chance of breaking the record as we play the Commanders next and his season high this year was v them. Maybe they won't have the 165 lb DB guard him this time. Really happy we have him. One of Howie's all time signature GM moves. And that is saying a lot, bc he has some really great moves under on his resume.

Jalen Hurts - man what needs to be said other than the fact he just wins. The Fumbles gotta stop. Full stop. He needs to have that alarm clock go off in his head, but as a few said above, "something ain't right" he has some sort of knee issue going on and I think it may be from one of those runs in LA when he got twisted up. He has quite a few flukey INTs that eventually will even out and probably not happen. But maybe they will? He could have probably side stepped the one last night, and just need a better overally situational awareness when you are that deep in your own territory. But his QB rating last night was 109.5 with that INT included, so it sure tells me he had a helluva game. While his YPA this year is slightly down from 8.0 last year, his completion % is up almost a full point. He just keeps getting better, but isn't having the exact same year as last year obviously, but also still is not a finished product. He just needs to remain healthy. The arrow is pointing up.

Just a great win and a good spot to be in at 6-1 heading into the next game against the Commanders before "The Gauntlet" starts. Should be fun to watch!

Great summary- so happy after the statement win.

Agreed a bit with Hurts that it still seems like something is a little off. Good news that they have 2 tough divisional games coming up, then the bye, so hopefully he can heal some.

Was glad to see Lane out there as well, even if he was only 75% or so. Seemed to be a big reason the Eagles were able to have their offense clicking better

I'm starting to feel a lot better about the "gauntlet".

This might be the year we take 2 from Dallas.

Buffalo can't stop the run, that is not a recipe for success against this team and they don't seem to play well on the road (though I guess I can give them a pass for the London game).

I think the Eagles have the SF game circled, with all the chatter from them in the offseason, and we're at home that game. It's tough to go cross country west to east.

@KC and @SEA will be tough. It's hard to win on the road and the Eagles haven't won in either of those places in I don't know how long. I can see the Eagles realistically going 4-2 over that 6 game stretch.

I think most of us would sign up for 4-2 over that gauntlet. Most importantly though is that NONE of those games looks unwinnable right now. Eagles really are in the elite.

Lot of talk about Hurts not being quite right this year, and to the eye that's absolutely true. yet, YET...the offense is on similar pace for yards, points, etc. Some of his detractors have been smiling and smug, but if this is the bad Hurts?????? Sign me up for that too. He's a winner

One thing that's interesting to me is that the Brotherly Shove play is practically unstoppable yet we don't seem to have a power run game. I think this has more to do with the OC and personnel formations. I feel like we are trying to shove a square peg in a round hole with our light fronts when we should become more of a power offense scheme.

Modern football is 90 percent shotgun formation. I think it's dumb

The fact that the Eagles are -2 in turnover differential and are still 6-1 shows that they find ways to win despite playing sloppy and not protecting the football, which is what good teams do. That said, Hurts is tied with Jimmy G for the most INTs this season with 8 (yikes) and has lost 2 fumbles.

Curuious to see how yall do against the "gauntlet" teams, which all have positive turnover differentials up to this point. Teams the Eagles have beat so far are all negative in turnovers except Tanpa Bay (+7). SF is currently #1 at +8 (and facing Cousins tonight), Dallas is #3 with +6.

A lot can change week to week, but its gonna be interesting to see how they do if they turn the ball over against teams that usually turn turnovers into wins.

I think it's more about a 600 pound squat and a HOF center. Don't have a true power back other then hurts

It's also about the 2 guys behind Hurts helping to pushing him forward.

Have they ever even tried a normal QB sneak without the extra horses behind Hurts? Genuinely curious.

It’s really not though. It’s been pointed out many times that more often than not Jalen gets the first down/TD before the pushing begins.

Last night on at least one of them it looked to me like he might have been short if not for the 2 guys behind him giving him the final push. The problem is Hurts kind of body surfs on his lineman so he doesn't touch the ground before the ball crosses the line to get to.

I think that's the reason it works so well. Its almost impossible to make Hurts' body touch the ground short of the first down.

Ooooh, I think I just cracked the code:
Don't let Hurts surf. Simple. 😁
