2023 Philadelphia Eagles - Complete waste of a season finally comes to an end. (5 Viewers)

Rams correcting their 2016 choice, somehow manage to get the first and second pick of the year. I had actually hoped they would draft Wentz and Goff to Eagles at the time, oh how things would have been so different including the SB in '17.
Wentz gets a terrible rep and some of it is deserved. but what I hate most is people who won’t even admit he’s one of the big reasons we won the SB that year. It reminds me of the fans who still **** on McNabb

Wentz was the leading MVP candidate before going down and took brady 3 weeks to tie and surpass his TD throws that’s season. People forget how much Foles struggled those last few weeks. I think many forget how down everyone was and many had the negadelphia we got the bye but would lose anyway.

I remember a few people including Dino telling me “without that bye week we’d been ****ed!!! Thank god Wentz played as good as he did and the rest of the guys up till he was hurt.” DeFillipo and Reich asked Doug if they could take the bye week to go through a new game plan to work with Foles. They went back to Nick’s best season under Chip. That’s when the RPOs took off in Philly. After talking and going over film with Nick the 3 went to Doug Pederson and said this is the game plan we’re all comfortable with. Doug approved and the rest is history. Outside the playoff run most don’t realize how mediocre Foles was right before that and after. All they remember is how he played in the playoffs.

It sucks how everything went after that but no one person gets blamed over the other. Everyone from Lurie on down had their part on how things turned out after that. It’s just easy for many to blame one person instead of having a real debate what happened. Just regurgitating what the idiots who don’t know **** throw up on a wall hoping it sticks

It does seem like the tide turned fast with Wentz. I remember hanging on for him longer than most did and being surprised back then how quickly folks forgot his role there.

Our fanbase is a fickle bunch. You don’t act a certain way and media and fans turn on you. I blame radio guys like Cataldi as well. You can suck here but if you show grit people seem to love you even if you were as bad as the last guy.

You could be great but don’t act a certain way and people hate you. Meanwhile you get a guy like Allen Iverson great talent but absolute garbage human (and if we’re talking lacking leadership exhibit a) but people want to build a statue for the guy.

I just don’t get it at all in this city sometimes. We deserve our rep at times and it’s a shame some fans don’t see it. It’s why I laugh when fans a media want us to draft or bring in X player because I know personality wise they aren’t fitting the city and many will turn on them with a snap of a figure.

I’m not exactly sure what happened with Wentz but he wasn’t the root cause of the issues like many say. To me just blaming him or the coach shows people don’t want to further debate the situation. It’s easy to say it’s his fault then explain in detail why that may have happened.

No one forgot his role here. If it were just a matter of his play falling off, people would still love and appreciate him. Many people soured on him because:
a) He acted supremely selfish during that Super Bowl run after he was hurt - there were altercations with players because he wasn't happy the Eagles were going on a run without him. The quintessential bad teammate. Obviously he had his "audience of one" schtick so we should have seen it, we just misunderstood who the 'one' was.
b) He got a FOUR year extension with 66 million guaranteed. He demanded a trade before serving a SINGLE year of that. That takes a real character flaw. Athletes demanding a trade on the last year of their deal so they can go get the bag? No problem, its a business. This was different. He signed a contract with a huge signing bonus, then nope'd his way out of town before doing any of it.

You guys are way more on top of the Eagles than I am. But this NBC / Philadelphia feature was interesting.

By all accounts, Wentz was a fantastic teammate that season. While he was on IR, he remained a leader and incredibly involved in offensive meetings. He cheered on Nick Foles and his other teammates during that playoff run. Ultimately, it led to a 41-33 win over the Patriots in Super Bowl LII. While Wentz was happy for his team, he watched his backup get named Super Bowl MVP as feelings of jealously began to creep in.

While many thought Wentz should have been the MVP for the 2017 season, it eventually went to Tom Brady, who was also named as the No. 1 player in the NFL on the NFL Top 100 Players. But he was followed by Antonio Brown and then Carson Wentz.

Even thought Foles led the Eagles to a Super Bowl LII win, the Eagles never wavered. Throughout that postseason run, they let everyone know that Wentz was still their franchise QB. In fact, they even put Wentz right in the middle of the Super Bowl team photo, he was the only player out of numerical order.

After the torn ACL, Wentz was hoping he’d be ready for the 2018 season opener but he wasn’t. He made his season debut in Week 3 against the Colts. Wentz played fine that day, throwing for 255 yards with a touchdown and a pick. It was just encouraging to get him back on the field.

This seems very topical.

This is a good article, with players on the team actually having direct quotes about how things went down and is more on the line with what guys like me and others are saying about him.

Sproles was and has always been a well respected locker room guy and I take his word for how things happened. The fact he had to "convince Carson to be happy" seems enough

That's kind of what we all figured happened. He was a young player at a position the league idolizes. He's thinking what everyone would have thought. "Hate that they won it without me leading them." Difference is pros like Sproles know to keep your mouth shut and be the good soldier. Wentz was too young and cocky to get that point and it's derailed his career ever since.

I mean look how hard Sproles kinda restrained himself in just that 3 minute clip. He really really didn't want to trash talk him. But "He needs to be able to take coaching" kinda is the chef's kiss. We all knew that. Why else to you trade a guy that just signed an extension, with then at the time, a record dead cap hit, if there wasn't "major flaws" in the relationship, etc.

Yeah the whole argued with teammates was started by a guy named Jeff McLane who’s considered a joke. ESPN Eagles nfl reporter who lives in Philly Tim McManus disputed it with his sourced material. Sproles has been asked about it at various points and his last appearance with Kay Adams talked about it and said it was overblown.

I’m sure there were issues with teammates like any lockerroom but a lot seemed sugarcoated. Anything by josina anderson at that time should be taken with a huge grain of salt as she was dating disgruntled teammate Alshon Jefferey. In fact she made a comment after the Wentz concussion and former eagle Chris long went after her publicly on Twitter calling her a locker room rat and for teams t ban her from their lockerrooms

Lurie actually tried to talk Wentz i to staying. Saying if he couldn’t find a trade they liked they keep him. Lurie and Howie really wanted him to stay. In the end everyone realized it was a like a marriage that needed to seperate and they all did so mutually

He just signed with the Rams.

Lurie actually tried to talk Wentz i to staying. Saying if he couldn’t find a trade they liked they keep him. Lurie and Howie really wanted him to stay. In the end everyone realized it was a like a marriage that needed to seperate and they all did so mutually
So...Where is he now? As in right now? If he has talent, where are the suitors?

He just signed with the Rams.
Ah

Seems like it was a Bye week for all of us in here too haha.

Dallas and SF looked impressive. Hope we are healthy and ready for ... *Insert deep voiced announcer voice* THE GAUNTLET

They really did. Chase Young looked good in his Niners debut and the Giants looked like the worst team in the NFL against a Cowboys team that looked pissed off.

Dallas is a whole different beast at home vs on the road. Crucial for us to win the div.

Yeah, I hear ya, but at the same time, if they can figure out the offense moving forward like yesterday, they will be tough regardless of where they play.

We just can't afford to let anything get away from us. I'm expecting some very tough and competitive games in the next 5 games - games we should have a shot to win every one of them.

Really can't afford to lose more than 2 of the next 5 IMO

Bye

@ KC L - Andy after a bye is just scary. Hope they're all jet lagged.
BUF W - Buffalo not as good on the road. We will be coming off of a Bye then a loss, and be playing angry.
SF T - I have absolutely no read on this game. SF looks great even on the road. True coin flip, calling a tie lol
@ DAL L - Dallas is very good at home and I can't see us going 2-0 vs them this year
@ SEA L - Just a bad gut feeling about this game.
NYG W- Giants will be playing for nothing (maybe the #1 pick) and we will likely be playing for the div or even the 1 seed.
AZ W - Arizona will be playing for nothing, revenge on Gannon, lots on the line for us.

12-4-1

Lions: 13-4
Eagles: 12-4-1

Niners: 12-4-1
Bucs: 9-8
Cowboys: 12-5
Seahawks: 12-5
Vikings: 10-7

Obviously in reality we won't tie, so I think that SF game is gonna be the one that gives us anywhere from a 1 to 5 seed.

Meh. The six teams they’ve beaten have a combined 12 wins total. They don’t get to play the Gints every week. They've had two true tests this season and they lost em both. Stat padding against a JV team is what losers do.

@Deamon - I'm not so sure the game Monday night is a loss for you guys. If Philly wasn't coming off a bye I'd agree with you but you guys will be well rested also.

Kelce traveled to Argentina over the weekend for his bye week, so he's gonna be a tired mess for this game. Not to mention you guys have a score to settle against the Chiefs. On top of that the Chiefs are just not synced up yet.

We shall see, but this game is gonna be a slug-fest. All I really hope for is that both teams come out of this in good shape because I really want to see the Super Bowl rematch.

I mean, Dallas is likely to lose one or two more against better opponents, but they really do look unstoppable at home, and dangerous at times on the road. Can't take them for granted whatsoever

Generally agree with this. I think we have a decent chance against KC as long as Hurts is a little healthier (able to run better), but the key games are Dallas and SF. Lose to KC and Dallas and that SF game could well be for the division and a top 2 seed. Beat Dallas and we're almost certainly the division winner with a top 2 seed. We're gonna need at least one of those two

Still think Detroit has the inside track to the top seed. Schedule just too easy for them. Top tier teams can beat them in Detroit though

Not so fast… there’s almost no chance the Eagles win this game. Andy Reid is 24-3 coming off the bye week- He just always wins off the bye. Philly has never beaten Reid. Philly has never beaten Maholmes.

Let’s look at the way these teams match up- KC Def has been playing better this year than they were last year in the Super Bowl, and Jalen’s not the same QB this year. Philly D-line might get the nod over KC, but the back 7 isn’t even close- advantage KC.

KCs Offense is gonna feast on the porous secondary of Philly. Kelce is gonna have a huge game, even if he is having explosive diarrhea from Montezuma’s revenge. There’s nobody in the secondary that can even slow him down. On top of that, Maholmes Magic can make the group of cast-offs he has at WR look like All-Pros, especially against our crappy secondary. Last year, in the Bowl, he made MVS and a washed-up JuJu look like Rice and Moss in their prime.

Add in the fact that they’re playing in KC? Epic blowout coming, and everyone dropping Philly to #8 in their Power Rankings, and all of us in here crying for a week.

100% so far....
I had us losing to KC this coming week and then dropping two in a row to Dallas and Seattle. I gotta be honest, I don’t think this team loses back to back games.

I’m a lot more bullish against KC than I was before the season started. They are still very good and of course, Mahomes. But there’s a definite trend of offenses across the board this year not looking as good as last year and KC is not immune. I still contend that the field issues last year rendered our pass rush pedestrian and we would have won if not for that fact. Our Dline might be better this year. I think this game is a coin flip and I’ll buy that Dallas at home is a tough one. But if they lose to Dallas I don’t see them dropping one to Seattle.

SF scares me. Buffalo doesn’t. I think we have two more losses over the next 8 games. I also think we’ll be playing our starters in week 18 because we’ll still be battling Lions for the 1 seed. Hope I’m wrong though.

Yeah. I gotta hand it to the guy. He landed the most popular girl in the world.

No it doesn’t.

DAL is way too low. They should be 1B, at least. That win over NYG was impressive. Dak looks awesome.

And, as long as the cheating refs don’t hand the game to the other team, you’ll win.

Damn good points

My bad

Signed with the Rams. McCray today said they needed a veteran and apparently isn’t ruling out keeping him next year as well from what it sounds like so far.

Taylor had a concert in Buenos Aires Argentina. He met her at the end of the show I think as a surprise.

The same site that had the Cowboys as the odds on favorite to win the Super Bowl when we were 11-1 last year. Super respectable and reliable site. Its entertainment and they cater to the masses.

Excellent breakdown of the Brotherly Shove. Based on how defenses align and if they bring out 6 linemen. We could go in motion and create a max blocking front with chances of getting single coverage on a WR, TE or HB. It's not going to surprise me if we have a far deeper playbook based on the bodies the defense brings out to stop it.

Also our wonderful friends in Dal laden Vander esche had another neck injury. Being kept hush hush but could be career ending with the amount of neck issues he has. Pretty sad news as a person here.

Meanwhile Trevon Diggs is twerking for his brother to leave Buff while ****ting on Josh Allen and Buff. I don’t know about you guys but I’d much prefer Josh Allen over Prescott any day of the week and twice on Sundays. So this is a bit weird coming from a guy who’s on a playoff team who have less playoff wins and no SBs in the last 20 or so yrs then the Eagles

That was very interesting and it all makes sense. I also agree that they almost certainly have some plays to pivot to from the initial alignment depending on what kind of ‘organized mass’ the defense trots out. Almost guarantee at some point a defense lines up nothing but offensive linemen and Jalen just steps back and flips it to Swift to burn off a fast sweep. But not until the playoffs, lol.

They did something similar a couple weeks ago, which was good to get on tape now and make defenses worry about it before going all out to stop the shove.

Monday forecast looks a little dicey.

Supposed to be rainy and about 43 degrees and 10 mph winds at kick off. Lots of time for this to change obviously but something to keep an eye on. That low of wind usually doesn't affect much at Arrowhead though. But the moisture might. Supposed to rain all day and into the evening.

Weather gods already cheating for the Chiefs like the grass gods in the Super Bowl to counter-attack our pass rush again
