2023 Philadelphia Eagles - Complete waste of a season finally comes to an end. (7 Viewers)

Last year's Gannon defense in the Super Bowl allowed Reid and Mahomes to score 24 points in the second half. Last night's Desai led defense gave up exactly 0 points after halftime.

The Chiefs have scored zero points in the second half in the last three games. So that trend falls a bit on the Chiefs I think as much as the Eagles D.

If the Chiefs receivers can actually catch a pass I'm not sure the Eagles win last night.

But still, it's a good win for Philly. But they also have some things to clean up as they get close to the playoffs.
The Chiefs receivers lost the game but Mahomes also had a couple big misses in the 2nd half. The Eagles are a flawed team. Maybe even some major flaws that will eventually catch up to them. But I think every team in the league has major flaws. The one thing I’ll say about both the Eagles and Chiefs is that they have the potential to be great (both have great QBs, good offensive lines and can get pressure on the QB). Just haven’t seen the consistency all year. I wish I was a fan of either one of these 2 teams than the scrub of an organization that my team has turned into.
I think this year is just very different than in years past in that there’s not necessarily any dominant teams. Every team has flaws and the best team (us) has what looks to be big’ish ones.
Agree.

Whats fantastic is this Eagles team is figuring out ways to win, at any cost. For example, our special teams, specifically punting and punt return was exceptional. Helped us win this game, no doubt.

It's The Andy Reid Special. The Eagles would have won 2-3 Super Bowls in the early 2000's if we ever had any WRs that were a threat. Remember T.O. and us going to the Super Bowl finally? That was the first year McNabb had any sort of decent WR.

Look up Justin Watson's career stats, then wonder "why was this the guy to target the most last night?" He is actually worst than Todd Pinkston...
Not a James Thrash and Freddie Mitchell (4th and 26) fan? Greg Lewis? cmon!!
Last night's 4th and 25 play gave me flashbacks to our 4th and 26. And they would have converted if Watson had held on to the ball.
Same exact thought.

I got a 7 day ban for asking about the niners thoughts. Just asked what moves they could make after losing 3 straight and maybe picking up Dobbs. But someone didn't like my words. Boo hoo. Made me sad. But I guess speaking your opinion is frowned upon nowadays. We got that something real here. all that said fly eagles fly. 9 and 1 haters
Not saying you did but my guess is Joe and the gang want to keep the trolling and hostilities to a minimum. Let’s try to keep things to our thread unless we want to check up with old coaches or players like Indy Jags etc.

We don’t need the ********. Sf sports fans cry about everything. When Seahawks became good I thought they were sore winners just acting like that clown carrol their coach did. My cousin lived in both at and Sea for a good 15-18 yrs wife from sea huge sports fans. San Fran fans constantly ***** and moan.

Yrs ago with the old mlb forums I went into the forum to discuss the buster posey collision at the plate (one west posey broke his leg and then because posey and Giants complained rule was changed) to say I disagree the player didn’t do it intentional and posey was blocking the plate. I told them I had a coach when I was on travel who played milb but retired after injuries. He had taught us that if someone is blocking a base run through then and the umpire will call interference on said player blocking. All I did was disagree no personal attacks. I got insult with personal insult among other things along with two other non giants fans. My last comment was that their fans take after their favorite cheater Barry bonds who loved to victim blame and not surprised. The 2 others agreed with me and we left. I got perm-a banned from the Giants board while they all talked **** on us.

Was it fair? No but at the same time I understand why the mods did it. Considering our rivalry with the 49ers and everything that happened last year we just shouldn’t put ourselves in position to be sent to time out. Let’s not sink to their level.

I got a ban last or the year before when I made a joke about Romo hitting his head too many times after he made some asinine comment during a game

For the criticism that the Eagles coordinators get in here, why not praise for how prepared the team appears to be in the 2nd half of games? They keep pulling these wins out so I assume the coaches are making good adjustments at halftime.

It’s easier to criticize than have an in depth conversation. Let’s blame X as the popular move when that’s just the tip of the issue.

I actually own a 4th and 26 tee shirt lol. Freddie Mitchell, The People's Chump
That game last night brought up that ptsd and even men mentioned in the game thread that game reminded me of that. KC needs to make a trade similar to the Eagles AJ Brown as well as draft 1 or 2 guys. Toney is a nice talent but he’s a position less player besides as a returner. Ton of skill and talent with ball in. Hands but not big enough to be a Debo type WR/RB and as a WR limited in routes he can run. He’s a good piece to have if you had a legit #1 like Hill still and one other player outside of Travis Kelce

Coordinators are more than the tip of the iceberg. They’re a very large part of it.

There’s time to praise them but I don’t know if last night was a good example.

Was Desai’s adjustment to let receivers run free and have them realize they were so open that they became distracted, and dropped the ball?

What was Brian Johnson’s adjustment? Call
More screens and QB runs on 2nd and 22? Or to tell Jalen that “when I call a crap play change it?”

I don’t like having to hope my QB improvises on every play to do well.

I don’t like having to hope for dropped passes or guys to step out of bounds so they don’t score.

I’ve basically been away for three years just returning to fantasy football this season. Please don’t tell me this board is “woke” now 🤣
The board become more of a joke on who gets banned that’s all I’ll say. Other then that Joe and Co took the political section away do to extreme hostilities so you got to be careful on what you talk about now when it comes to that stuff

Valid criticisms. No game is going to be perfect, and you gotta roll with the punches. The play of both lines in the trenches was leaving....a lot to be desired, lets just say that. And I heard all week about the Chiefs blitzing their DBs a lot. Guess Johnson didn't hear that though.

Good news, sorta, is he might be one and done and get a HC gig this offseason if we just keep winning and go deep in the playoffs. Which means 2 2025 3rd round "comp" picks although they are technically not called Comp Picks.

I'm just going to stop posting as much. It's like nazi Germany
I can understand if you are directly attacking someone but posting a different opinion is trolling now? Getting close to leaving this board for good.
It’s getting ridiculous. I understand running a clean board but it’s honestly overkill. During the pandemic there was a thread that got a bit hostile I was a bit out of line but I was banned for a month which was overkill. Another poster who I was disappointed in do to college team allegiance personally attacked me to the point other posters who had been disagreeing with me jumped in for my defense.

Etc. Just to tell you how bad it was he even brought up my autism. Guess how long his ban was for? 2 weeks. Yep I got a longer ban despite this dude saying some pretty awful stuff about myself and he even included family. I mentioned something to 2 of of the mods not Joe personally and got very vague answers back about the whole situation.

I think the political landscape no matter which side you are on changed how Joe handles the board. There was just a lot of hostility here to the point I guess Joe and company felt if they didn’t go to the extreme to clean it up they’d lose control.

Said as much in the game thread last night. Yes eagles had their misses but the Chiefs were debilitating ones. Recievers dropping wide open passes including most likely game winning TD. If they didn’t have a case of the Agholars as I now call them that game isn’t really close. Probably 38-20 or something like that to KC.

Also we aren't getting the pressure from the dline like I thought we would. Not sure why. Kc oline is good though. Esp pass blocking. And mahomes is mobile as hell

I never thought I’d see the day that presumably a message board for mostly grown men talking football and occasionally ball busting each other would turn into the cesspool that is twitter or X or whatever the hell it is is called… 🤷‍♂️

Yeah I get the point from last night. We give up probably 500 yrs passing if KC has better catching.

I also think our defensive talent is a tad overrated. I know people like Blankenship but he’s a jag at best and should be a good back up. Sidney brown looks less than impressive. Slay has lost another step and Bradberry at times seems like he doesn’t care. Losing Maddox in the slot hurts but really with the amount of games he’s missed over the last 2-3 yrs does it matter? Byard was a decent get. Having vets like BG and Cox are nice but this defebse really needs a true revamp. The DB unit needs a demolishing and rebuild from ground up. One of slay/bradberry is traded our cut after this season imho. Sweat is ok but hasn’t done much this year. Reddick has been on and off. Not sure why Nolan smith isn’t getting more time.

This secondary needs a total rebuild.

I’d rather he comeback to Florida for personal reasons. We need a OC and he did well there. Maybe BJ isn’t meant to be a NFL Cordinator or coach besides a position coach

Yep it has. Even has turned own fans against each other. There’s very little respect shown in the board these days. My issue is the band aren’t consider from poster to poster. You got need being banned for simple asking a question. I got warned in the wrestling thread for posting quotes with sources came from X interview and told to post links. I asked the kid who got defenses what’s the difference between my post and someone posting a tweet from someone without a link.

They seem to not like being questioned

Carter almost caught that spike to stop the clock.
I didn't even realize this at the time really. Would have been one of the most epic plays of all time if he had caught that.
Of all the plays that stood out last night, his ankle tackle of Mahomes was the most impressive to me. My God that dude is lightening fast for a man that big. Truly special.

Big fan of this guy. These are the kind of additions that keeps good teams good for longer periods of time.

I was here for years and years. But in 2020 I gave up my league and we all quit fantasy. In fact I hardly watched the eagles that season. Didn’t have cable. Times were tight like they were in one way or another for all of us. But I joined a family league again this year and I have to say it’s unfortunate what y’all talked about with board policies but it’s extremely refreshing to come back here and see all you good dudes still here. This eagles thread always meant more to me than the fantasy posts to be honest. You’re a great group of posters. Don’t let the haters get ya down. 😉

That was my point up thread. Giving up 0 points to Mahomes and Reid in the second half might be a poor trend for KC but it still says a ton about Desai and this defense.

Agree 1000% on the bolded. Eagles had no business winning that game

I have a question, kinda off topic:

So, next season I really want to catch a game. Preferably before it gets cold but not too hot either. So September-October ideally.

Anyways, I’m a Texan so I could go to a Dallas game at Jerry World. However, I really want to experience a game in Philly. I know the energy will be crazy.

You guys think it’s worth it to make a such a trip? Probably would be 3-4 days as I would want to explore the city a little bit, and as a foodie I’d want to check out some hidden gems. Maybe check out the nightlife.

What do you guys think?

Blakenship is my favorite player. Whats so good about him is he doesnt miss a tackle. Not the fastest on the field, but always in the right position. I think he may be the defensive MVP.

I would 100% recommend doing so. The city is very walkable and if you know, aren't a loudmouth rude person, you'll be treated fairly. Just know that people naturally just talk w the F bomb all the time so just don't get offended by the language and the passion of the fans, you'll be just fine.

I have done both. You can't go wrong either way. Jerry world is a great stadium. Walking around Philly is fun too. Obviously be more money and time to travel to philly. Definitely do one of these though

Jerry World, meh to me. Its big. but appears to have been built by the lowest bidder. The upper levels are VERY steep. And the game I went to, they frickin ran out of BBQ sauce at halftime. A stadium, in Texas, running outta BBQ at halftime. Seems like a sin to me. Didn't help this was the MNF game in 2021 where they absolutely blasted us either lol.

Haha. I went to a Sunday night game 8 years ago. We won in a close OT game. Sam bradford to jordan mathews. Chip Kelly. Oh how times have changed

I totally disagree. Bad WR's drop passes. We capitalized on that. Poser QB's do stupid things like that and we capitalized on it. Elite QB's make bad throws in the end zone. We capitalized on that and jumped for an interception. Elite TE's sometimes are susceptible to drops or ball protection issues. We capitalized on that and punched out a fumble. At what point do we recognize that this is football and this **** happens in every game. We aren't lucky, We just win. We held the best QB in the league to zero points for the second half of the game. When we needed our offense to step up and score, they scored. When we needed the punt crew to pin them back deep in their territory, they did exactly that. At the end of the game, when we need a sack, Cox gets home. We absolutely deserved to win that game because when we NEED to make a play, we make the play. I'd wager that 90%+ of the teams in the NFL lose that game.

Get on board y'all, this is some of the best stretch of football we may ever see from this team. We may not lose another game.

Agree 1000% on the bolded. Eagles had no business winning that game

Play that game 100 times KC wins 70 of them IMHO

For the criticism that the Eagles coordinators get in here, why not praise for how prepared the team appears to be in the 2nd half of games? They keep pulling these wins out so I assume the coaches are making good adjustments at halftime.

It’s easier to criticize than have an in depth conversation. Let’s blame X as the popular move when that’s just the tip of the issue.
Coordinators are more than the tip of the iceberg. They’re a very large part of it.

This right here has my hyped. I'm ready for the Bills RIGHT NOW

LFGGGGGGG!!!!

I have done both. You can't go wrong either way. Jerry world is a great stadium. Walking around Philly is fun too. Obviously be more money and time to travel to philly. Definitely do one of these though
Jerry World, meh to me. Its big. but appears to have been built by the lowest bidder. The upper levels are VERY steep. And the game I went to, they frickin ran out of BBQ sauce at halftime. A stadium, in Texas, running outta BBQ at halftime. Seems like a sin to me. Didn't help this was the MNF game in 2021 where they absolutely blasted us either lol.

I actually went to Jerry World last year for Wrestlemania. It’s big and pretty, and popcorn + drink was $30. I bought my friend a drink too so it was $40.

Yeah I was also kinda disappointeed at the VERY basic beer selection there. Even when I go to Houston w the inlaws, I'm like "Texas doesn't really do good beer" kinda really sad about that b/c I thought those boys loved to drink down there, but I guess its basic kinda stuff outside of Shiner Bock

Also we aren't getting the pressure from the dline like I thought we would. Not sure why. Kc oline is good though. Esp pass blocking. And mahomes is mobile as hell

They got plenty of pressure, the Eagles had 9 QB hits, Mahomes just did a nice job of avoiding sacks.
Allen won't be any easier. But the Bills defense is....not good. I think we get a win but Diggs is a couple levels or more above what the Chiefs have at WR. I expect that to be a good game.

Assuming good weather, we should be able to pressure Allen into a couple of mistakes.

There was smoke around Surtain and Johnson at the deadline. I think Howie is well aware that they need to get younger and more athletic at CB.

Not worried in the least bit about Buffalo. Eagles will be covering that 3.5 point spread rather easily.

Maybe. Maybe not. Doesn't matter. The point is we did what needed to be done to win the game that counted. Are the Chiefs lucky that Brown ran a different route than Jalen called and Jalen threw the correct route-which turned into an INT? Are the Eagles lucky that Reid punted a net 15 yards rather than go for it on 4th down? Or was that just a bad call in the moment. You can always zoom in on a specific play and point to it as evidence of luck, but I don't like to look at it like that.

Just saw this.

Best 10-game starts to a season in Eagles history

1949 (9-1): Won NFL Championship
1960 (9-1): Won NFL Championship
1980 (9-1): Lost Super Bowl
2004 (9-1): Lost Super Bowl
2017 (9-1): Won Super Bowl
2022 (9-1): Lost Super Bowl
2023 (9-1): ???

This is true. The Chiefs won the Super Bowl last year. Some folks will remember the Hurts fumble, hardly anyone but us will remember the Quez drop on 3rd down that would have got us to like the 13 yard line. This is how it goes. Did we get "lucky" to shut down Kelce or did we know he was really the only weapon to lock down and, hence, knew the guys playing WR, while are NFL players, they are like bottom tier level and yadda yadda yadda no one is surprised MVS and Justin Watson didn't make plays for them just like Jalen Reagor and JJAW never made plays for us, in clutch moments. As they say, Dems Da Breaks!

We should’ve been blown out and on here today asking wtf did the team and coaches do to fix anything while on the bye. In fact they looked worse in the first half. The issue for me is this just isn’t sustainable winning. I get it all teams have flaws. Outs however are huge red flags. We’ve won a lot of games just from the sheer fact of our opponent shouting themselves in the foot or playing stupid football. I’m in the sane camp I want a few convincing wins now not hope another team makes low is football mistakes like stepping out, hoping other team drops passes and just hope we stay in the game long enough where we might get a lucky bounce.

We have a talented team but and I think if this was a lot of other teams in the nfl we’d have 4-5 legit losses right now because of said play. If it wasn’t for AJ brown so far this year we’d be lost. He’s my team mvp at this point with Swift in 2nd place

Sept-Oct would be ideal but our winters have been pretty mild lately outside of a few weird weeks. Sept isn’t too hot and we’ve been fortunate with it lately. You’d be better off with a night game in Sept probably if your concerned if being hot
