2023 Philadelphia Eagles - Complete waste of a season finally comes to an end. (7 Viewers)

Watching Lamar Jackson against this 49er defense and all he's doing is when the rush comes, he steps up and out and then has a run pass option. Hurts ALWAYS steps back and out and is left with just a pass option. Hurts steps back and out even when he doesn't need to, it's getting frustrating.
Johnson is too friendly for him and I have no idea WTF Alex tanney really does. Hurts needs some hard *** on him. This whole dynamic smells similia to the Wentz situation.

Going to be an interesting offseason.

My biggest worry are vet lockerroom leaders. I think BG and Kelce are done so who steps in for them besides maybe Lane?

Lane has a couple more left in him I think. Tackle has to be top priority this year.

He just extended this offseason to 2026.

Good tape

I don't think Brett Kollmann is an Eagle fan but I think he's just as sick and tired as the rest of us watching this offense struggle when it doesn't have to.

Tweet:

The Eagles actually ran outside zone. From the pistol. And immediately got an explosive gain. Go figure…

It still boggles my mind that we are unstoppable with the tush push but we never use 12 or 13 personnel. However we did seem to add more motion and RPO.

Even that sweet pass to Goedert was a play action pass from under center where Hurts turned his back to fake the handoff. Only saw it once all game. It's like the players want to run these plays but Brad rarely calls them.

Brad Johnson doesn't know what he's doing

Eh, we’re just not as good as we were last year. The chiefs have been stinking it up too. Mahomes threw a pick 6 and was gimpy in a clean pocket all day.

I love Hurts demeanor. I don’t wanna see my QB having a hissy fit and throwing his helmet. Or crying like Mahomes.
I like my QB with some emotion

He shows emotion, just not during the game. More so during pregame.

Also, I think he’s very introverted. Like myself.

They need to get back to more RPOs and play action.

Last season they ran RPO about 22% of the time and play action 29%. This season they're using RPO 15% and play action 13%.

Eagles just eeked by the horrible injury plagued Gaints ... in spite of Hurts. You could love Hurts bizarre/ weird / passively inconfident (for good reason) attititude ... but you can't really.
Go fix your broken giants and leave us alone
Broken Giants kinda kicked the ****z out of the eagles for most of the game ... Thanks to Hurts
Otherwise ... yeah the Eagles are waaaaay better than the Giants
Better Oline 10 to 1
Better WRs 10 to 1
Better Defense
QB ??? Slight Edge to the Eagles over Divito ... Equal vs Tyrod
Giants would've killed the Eagles with Jones
Did we watch the same game. At what point did the Giants lead the Eagles in the game? Oh that's right, they never had a lead the entire game. Didn't you guys bench your QB for....Tyrod Taylor. GTFOH. Gonna do the same s*** to your team again in 2 weeks. I'm glad you are very excited about losing to a division rival by 8 points I guess.

This whole "well your team is better so..." weird talk is just that...weird. "You guys have a better team than my team, but I'm still gonna go into your team thread and say 'Daddy you should have beat me harder'" Just a really weird energy.

I'd concentrate on your team, all the reasons you list that your team is a terrible team and think about how that can be fixed. Maybe fire the GM...again. Maybe fire the scouting dept that advised to take Daniel Jones #6 overall, or a RB #2 overall, etc etc. The Giants are very terrible.

Not much talking from the Dallas fans the past couple days. Still have some hurts bashing. Can't win them all i guess
Well I mean. They are really living that narrative "Can't beat a winning team on the road" So I'd be quiet too. Although a few of my personal folks IRL were very happy the Seahawks and Rams won so they can say, at least today "Well we beat those winning teams" But plainly speaking I've been hearing this "You struggled in a win against X team while we beat X team by a million points!" Only for them to lose back to back games against decent/good teams that we already handled. Plus they got bumrushed by the Cardinals earlier this year. The Cowboys are a good/decent team, but when they go on the road to Tampa in round 1, I'd be willing to be the line is something like 1.5 points and could very well easily be a 1 and done team when the playoffs start. Can't play Carolina/Washington/NY in the playoffs, you actually have to play good teams.

Let the comeback commence!
This is in reference to Brock Purdy coming back from a 4 INT performance where he wilted on the national stage and got benched, right?
Well WTF...I had no idea I posted that here until just now. I was checking several threads during the game and must have forgot where I was.

Say whatever you want about last night, I still think SF is the best in the NFC and will be in the SB.

I'll see myself out.

All I know is Sam Darnold came in and literally immediately drove down the field and scored a touchdown after Brock Purdy had 4 INTs and zero touchdowns. Its a great offensive system, credit to Kyle Shanahan (unless he's down by literally any points in the 4th Quarter)

And I'll say this, you now have to play your starters the rest of the season. Don't slip up! We are right on you guys.

I still think SF is the best, but I'd like to Echo what Nick Bosa said about Hurts "Ravens put the blueprint out on how to beat the 49ers!"

Haha have a good day man.

I missed the game. Purdy had 4 INTs and got benched last night??
Well. He got a stinger, sure looked like he could go back in, but Kyle left Darnold in to finish the game. Was a 4 point game at halftime despite 3 first half INT's. The Ravens opened it up in the 2nd half and at one point scored on 6 consecutive drives against the great San Francisco defense. They literally finished the game with ZERO offensive linemen on the bench as Trent Williams and 2 other guys got knocked out of the game. Was not a pretty sight for SF fans at all.

Wow..

Any given Sunday!

So I guess Purdy is out the MVP race now too 😏
Most likely yes. You can't be the new guy on the block, be the leader of the odds and then when you face a good team, have a performance like that and stay on top. Guessing its now gonna be CMC in the front.

Either way, whatever.

Eagles get Gannon and the Cardinals next in Philly. Lotta chatter about the team being super dysfunctional right now, despite winning against the Giants and basically dominating them, save for 2 really bad/flukey turnovers that made the game look closer than it really was. And we get to play these turds after the Cardinals!

QB controversy. Split lockerroom. Mutiny vibes right before playoffs. Then a whole week off to let it fester before playing a playoff game. Not just the streets that smell funky in SF.

Are you writing a fantasy novel? Cuz that's quite the imagination you have there.
I think just giving you a taste of what we sometimes have to endure. Hurts has a clunker or the team has a bad stretch and it's immediately "He's been exposed", "Coach has lost the locker room", etc. from outside fans and media. Purdy eats it in prime time and for every "There goes his MVP shot" there's also plenty of "It's one game" of brushing it off.

Because we crapped the bed to Drew Lock and SEA, instead of controlling our own destiny for the #1 seed this week, we now have to choke down vomit and root for DAL to beat DET so we can maybe get the 2 seed and a second round home playoff game, if we win in the Wild Card round. :yucky:

isnt that at home? i bet they win that

Everyone ready for the Philly karma this week and Gannon comes back to town?
I mean I guess right. The Cardinals are a very bad team, probably worse than the Giants. They have Kyler and Trey McBride. Last time I checked they were like 31st in PPG allowed. They just got the crap beat out of them by....the Bears I have a feeling the team is going to be in "pissed off mode" when we play the Cardinals, and while we might not win 42-7, we sure as hell (IMO) aren't going to be losing to a team like this.

Of course anything can happen etc etc, seems this year we are getting all the weird flukey stuff to go against us. Every batted ball becomes and INT. Players slipping turning into pick 6's. Players colliding and fumbling kickoffs, etc. At some point this weird s*** progresses back to the mean.

WIth that said, I though Shaq Leonard played well yesterday, but the lack of pass rush from this team against some of the worst offensive lines (NYG/WAS) is very alarming.

I honestly don't know what to think other than hoping the players are mad and put it on themselves to fix this s***show and play better.

Yeah ya know. As much as I hate it, and will hate it, I still have to root for the best scenario for the Eagles. And that entails this garbage. But in the scenario, assuming we don't get the 1 seed, which is still very possible, we host the Rams or the like and then the Lions, probably, who suck on the road.

Gonna be a weird/interesting/funny/stressful/crazy finish in week 18....

Eagles fans rooting guide for week 17, key games:

Lions @ Cowboys. Need the Lions to lose so that the Eagles have a shot at the 2 seed, should SF win out. A Cowboys win would help the Lions have a worse strength of victory tie-breakers.

Rams @ Giants. Giants have won enough games to get out of QB draft sweepstakes. Need the Rams to have a playoff spot to play for in week 18 against the Niners and to play the Niners tough.

Saints @ Bucs. Need the Saints to not make the playoffs b/c the Eagles own their 2nd round pick. Need the Bucs to stay sorta hot so they host the Cowboys, on fire, Round 1 of playoffs.

49ers @ Commanders. Duh, we want the Commanders to win, but, not gonna happen. 2% chance at best.

Steelers @ Seahawks. Actually want the Seahawks to win so the Rams have incentive to play week 18 in a "win get in" scenario.

Packers @ Vikings. Vikings play the Lions week 18 so, we in theory want them to be trying to squeeze into the playoffs to knock the Lions down another peg.

These seem like the 6 most important games outside of our own game against the Cardinals. Should be a fun week of score-watching!

Haha I mean trust me I know what you mean. If you are a believer in Karma though, I feel we are not owed any more in all honesty. All the good breaks and injury we luck we had last year swung way back, farther than correcting to the mean this year. Not to mention the large regression of a lot of key players and the defensive line as a whole unit. I don't think I personally can take any more Karma.

But I hear you!

its still crazy to think that this team hasnt played its best football and has won 11 games
This is the most important point

🍻 heres hoping to a BYE in the first round
Yeah like no matter what "something goes wrong"

COOL 465 yards against the Giants, 33 points! But guess what, we are gonna fumble the opening kickoff and also Dallas Goedert is gonna fall down on a pick 6 so people can go

HAHA YOU BARELY BEAT THE GIANTS AND YET ANOTHER TURNOVER FOR HURTS HE IS SO OVERRATED

I would actually love love a complete game or 3 and them all being in the playoffs to just destroy....somebody, anybody. Its gonna break eventually right. RIGHT!!??

It either is or it isnt. I think wants important is we know this team is good enough to win the Super Bowl. Is there another team in the NFL more tested than us?

I would say no, but also is there a team with 10+ wins that has more questions about their team than ours? LOL. Its so crazy that we have a 11-4 record yet there are more questions than answers about our team right now.

I am actually on the optimistic spectrum again. I think we dominate or win really nicely these next 2 weeks and if somehow the Niners slip up, our confidence is going to go up, massively.

Brought this up last week and I'm still not sure what would be better for us. I feel like we REALLY need a 'bye' week to rest up, reset, figure some stuff out, refocus, etc.

If we win this week and Detroit beats Dallas, couldn't we rest our starters week 17 as the division would be clinched? Or would we still play hard to try to get the 2 seed over the 3 seed?

And if Dallas wins, that means an upset to the Giants, on the road, would drop us to the 5 seed. That is risky business. I'm torn on what is better for us here.

Seems odd to me, but sure, it also makes sense. His team just waxed the guy's team who was the front runner. Has currently the best team in the NFL. Makes sense to me as much as it doesn't make sense from a numbers perspective. Would be crazy for him to win 2 already in his career.

The goal really is to get the real bye week. I think we just have too much s*** to straighten out and get "right" or as "right as can be" against 2 lesser opponents in the Cardinals and Giants. I don't even know who the starting QB would be for the Giants week 18 since they just benched Devito, although Taylor made a few plays he still completed less than half his passes.

The key thing is the Rams playing the Niners week 18 when they will be playing to get in. Looking at the schedule at least on ESPN, it looks like every game time is TBD, so I'm guessing the NFL is going to flex the times of all the games on the last Sunday of the season.

Ya, so many moving parts right now. 1 seed would be amazing for sure, but don't really want to play Dallas round 2, would rather play Detroit. I just feel like trotting out against two bad teams isn't really going to fix things. Would love a week to rest guys whether it's the 1 seed bye, or W18 vs the Giants.

Eh my thing is nothing is for certain. Its the NFL, and you want to play as little playoff games to get to the big dance as you can.

Now this isn't wishing injuries but its just the reality of the sport.

For instance, SF is a house of cards, as we see, every single time Trent Williams is out, the whole team falls apart. They have a super talented team, but man this guy seems to be the jenga piece and they literally used up all of their offensive linemen off the bench last night. Now b/c they lost, they really have to trot out their entire team the last 2 games of the season instead of THEM getting to rest week 18 + rest again for the 1st week of the playoffs. Huge huge implications from that beatdown the Ravens handed them last night.

Injuries could happen to anyone and make life harder for their team, including ours. So you really want to play as little games as possible, where in a scenario round 1 without a bye "Cool! We play a crappy team, but also b/c we had to play, X player is out for the rest of the playoffs"

Dallas and Philly have even less margin for error when it comes to injuries. Jenga pieces are Dak/Hurts, CD/AJ Brown/Smitty and Micah Parsons on defense. Its hard to say any of our defensive players are true Jenga pieces b/c the whole defense is...kinda not good. But I think you get what I'm saying.

we now have to choke down vomit and root for DAL to beat DET so we can maybe get the 2 seed and a second round home playoff game,

Lions @ Cowboys. Need the Lions to lose so that the Eagles have a shot at the 2 seed, should SF win out. A Cowboys win would help the Lions have a worse strength of victory tie-breakers.
Brought this up last week and I'm still not sure what would be better for us. I feel like we REALLY need a 'bye' week to rest up, reset, figure some stuff out, refocus, etc.

Maybe Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis or Cox. Other than that, there’s no impact players on defense. We’re not even missing the slay absence.
