2024-2025 NCAA College Basketball Thread - Huskers take the Crown! Also Florida did something. (1 Viewer)

Beautiful Final Four court this year.
The court is pretty plain. The edges have a little bit of styling. I suppose that's an improvement. Always unstable to have the courts like 6 feet off the floor and kids could fly off to their deaths
Less is sometimes more

I don't like the height risk though
Looks more like something we would have done in the late 90s so maybe that nostalgia vibe is what I like. Colorful without being everywhere.

What you guys all think for tonight?

I'm in a position where I win a huge pool if Florida wins, and am considering hedging by throwing some money on Houston.

Truly a coin flip?

My gut says Houston, but I am reminded of when Gonzaga went undefeated and made it to the final after a similar incredibly emotional victory in the final four, only to get pounded by Baylor.

I worry about the letdown factor.

UH has a lot of generational pressure on them. I know they are kids and seemingly that what comes before may not factor in come game time, but I agree with Scoresman about the letdown factor.
I'm actually amazed with how bad the officiating in this tournament has been, how even it's been called. Like there will be a bad or missed call, and they'll turn around on the next possession or two and call a phantom foul the other way to "even it up". So it looks like bad call after bad call, but net, it's not been that bad.

Great teams that couldn't close the deal with Elvin Hayes running into the UCLA teams and Phi Slamma Jama in the 80's. I'm in Houston and all I've heard all week is previous teams not being able to seal the deal. Just think it gets in their heads and hope I'm wrong.

Kelvin Sampson as well not having won a championship. Really pulling for the old geezer. He's been awesome this tournament.

I don't think those kids listen to sports radio or care about things that happened before they were born.

Just threw 1k down on Houston before tip off, but still cheering for Florida.

If Florida wins then I win 3k in my $20 entry pool with 500 people in it, and was set to make nothing if Houston won.

Now it's either 1k or 2k profit, so still cheering for Florida but the Hedge makes me feel a bit less nervous.

Seems like Houston is up by way more than 3. But Florida's bigs are too soft compared to Houston so I don't see much changing unless Clayton wakes up.

Ya, I do wonder if the refs will let them keep playing like this, or adjust a bit. Florida is a 2nd half team, and have made some amazing halftime adjustments, so we will see if they can do it again.

As a ref, they made 2 borderline calls against Florida and then compounded it with a weak tech. Making a difference in the game, which is not good.

It was just a bit in a row. Both of these teams are trying to be physical though, makes it tough.

If a team calls a timeout under 16 for commercials, they shouldn't have another TV timeout at the next stoppage. The timeout was the TV break.

I've really liked Florida's coach (despite being a Gator Hater) so far in this tourney. Let's see what they can counter with.
