2024-25 NBA Thread: for the second time, somebody in Dallas hits low percentage shot that leads to a generation of conspiracy theories (20 Viewers)

Aaron Gordon extremely unlikely to play. Kind of puts a damper on this game, especially for us Nuggets fans. Per Rotoworld:

ESPN’s Shams Charania reports that Aaron Gordon (hamstring) has been diagnosed with a left hamstring strain and is doubtful to play in Sunday’s Game 7 against the Thunder.

According to Shams, Gordon will need several weeks to recover from the injury. He’s been looking for ways to play on Sunday, “but it is becoming physically improbable to do so.” Gordon hasn’t officially been ruled out, but there’s little chance he takes the court, which is a devastating blow for Denver. Gordon has averaged 16.8 points and 7.3 boards in the 2025 postseason, and his production will likely be picked up by a committee of Russell Westbrook, Julian Strawther and Peyton Watson.
Jokic is playing every minute of this game.

Someone remind incase I can't recall, but this has to be the most injury plagued postseason for the NBA in 20 + years.

Mitchell - pulled out of game and played his last game very limited
Garland, Hunter, Mobley all missed at least one game
Tatum, Porzingus and Brown
Lillard
Isaiah Stewart
Gordon
Butler, Steph
Morant

LeBron also hurt but the Lakers got bounced so it didn’t matter.

Alternatively, the Nuggets were 2-0 vs the Thunder without Gordon in the regular season. Watson was significantly more effective as a starter this year (12/4/2/2 on something like .614 TS% - I looked it up earlier this morning so don't remember exactly). And most importantly, I have my lucky underwear on.

Mark Cuban, Shaq and Bronny's dad want to own an NBA team together. I know one for sale if somebody wants to get word to them for me.

TIA.
Did Cuban sell all of his interest in the Mavericks? I don't think he did, but would imagine he would have to,
I believe he still owns 27% of the team.

Correct, he would have to sell the remaining 27% before buying another team in the NBA.

But he wants to. And there's one for sale. And he likes the PNW. And its weed.
I absolutely love Cuban.

But about 36 months ago, he sold out his "beloved" Mavs to the POS Adelson family.

It was either for the payday, or "he didn't want his kids to feel the pressure".

Whatever the reason, if he'd sell his own Mavs down the river, why do you want him buying a team you love?

He needs to buy his hometown Pittsburgh Pirates.

Gladly

I wasn't just going for all stars and I was looking for guys that just got hurt in the playoffs, not missed the playoffs when they got hurt in game 70.

Gordon out. If Joker can manage to pull this win off, hard to think Minny isn't the favorite the rest of the way.

Especially since Curry missed at least a week. If Denver wins I wonder how long Gordon will be out.
At a minimum, I would guess game one of the finals if they get there. Very easily could be through the finals. Even when he gets back, he wouldn't be the same.

Well, for what it’s worth, Little Woz is pulling hard today for “The Joker and his Chicken Nuggies” (how little Woz refers to the Denver Nuggets).

Mainly because we bear you guys last year so he thinks we for sure will again, but hey we are on your side for today at least!

Which supports the rational basis for a shortened season.

Maybe or is it just a blip? The season should be shorter anyways, but not sure this is why.

Line hasn’t really moved -

one of those was the back to back they played against each other in early March, right? Gordon got hurt in the first game and barely played, which OKC won easily. That second game Denver couldn’t miss, I remember watching it. If they shoot like that again today they’ll win for sure.

Line hasn’t moved, which is curious. Maybe he’s gonna give it a go?

Reportedly a grade 2 strain. He'll miss the conference finals if they advance

if he truly has a grade 2 strain it’s a huge advantage for the Thunder if he plays. The cynic in me can’t help but think there is some gamesmanship going on here but it’s not like it really matters.

Injury Update ahead of Game Seven against the Thunder:

AVAILABLE:
Aaron Gordon (Left Hamstring Strain)
Jamal Murray (Illness)
Russell Westbrook (Right Hand Sprain)
Hunter Tyson (Right Ankle Sprain)

OUT: Ron Holmes II (Right Achilles Tendon Repair)
I have my doubts that this a grade two strain if that is the case. A little gamesmanship going on with either the injury report or that he is suiting up.

The Thunder have allowed MPJ to get by without being able to raise his left arm, maybe they’ll let Gordon be effective on half a leg

I just showed Little Woz. He approves.

Outside of game one and the terrible fouling to close out the game, the thing that has stuck out the most about OKC's game plan is the fact that they aren't just bringing MPJ up over and over on the pick and roll. I have a high opinion of Daigneault but he has absolutely been out coached by Adleman this series.

Alternatively, maybe not playing MPJ off the court was part of the plan because he has been terrible offensively 5/6 games.
