He'll win because he's a much superior defender and he leads the league in WS.There is the "story" component to the MVP vote as well. Always has been. It's not just a statistical award. That's why SGA will certainly win.Jokic should get the MVP, right? Think of where the Nuggets would be without the Joker. Plus, he had his best season ever stats wise. He needs to get the MVP.
But other than thatI mean if the team was healthy (fair I think if we assume AD and Kyrie are healthy), I would way rather have Luka, Kyrie, PJ, Lively than AD, Kyrie, PJ, and Lively. So you think he should have foreseen AD missing a ton of time and Kyrie's season ending injury? Because if both of them had stayed healthy this year he may have been right.Chuck also said the Mavericks would be better in the short term than the Lakers after the Luka trade.Chuck agrees on the Clips...says they may be the 2nd best team in the West, and no one refutes him.Healthy Kawhi is still a thing. His numbers are all-NBA level when he's actually playing. Two things. I am starting to come around on the Clippers being a wild card to make the conference finals and it was nice to see the Pistons win a game where both teams tried. I was getting worried that they were just happy to be here.
Healthy Kawhi is still a top 5 player in the league. The problem isn't talent.

Chuck is highly entertaining, but his predictions usually suck.
I've been saying it and the numbers back it up, the Clippers are as good as any team not name OKC in the West when Kawhi is playing.
So no, he would not have been right. He's a moron. It was idiotic on every level:
1. It was idiotic on a basketball level for immediacy and in the future because you don't trade a super young guy who makes All NBA first team every year and it one of the five best under x age players ever for every age he's ever been going back to like age 13.
2. It was idiotic on an injury risk level because AD is at least as big an injury risk as Luka
3. It was idiotic on a lineup level because AD at PF has never been a good play, really, and Lively is one of your only young and cost controlled assets.
4. It was idiotic on a business level because you cost a crap load of fans and ticket demand by eliminating one of the single biggest marketing draws a team has ever had
5. It was idiotic on a community relations level because everyone loved Luka
6. It was idiotic on a human level because they treated him like garbage on the way out and everyone noticed
7. It was idiotic on an execution level because even if you had to make this stupid trade you got a significantly lesser return than you should have, even if you were only willing to trade with the Lakers
8. It was idiotic on a basketball level because you're also left with a team built around one guy doing a ton of creation and you replaced him with guys who can't create and never really have and aren't suddenly going to
It was stupid on a recruiting level - you burned Klay Thompson who chose you so he could get chances from Luka. Bring it.No offense to @Frostillicus and @Zow , but I think I'd rather the Lakers get the Wolves in the first round than the Warriors, and have the Clippers on the other side of the WC bracket. I guess that means I have to root for the Clippers tomorrow - I'm sure that will work out well.
Curry was covered. It was weird because I was expecting screens but he just didn't seem to move. When you’ve got the best shooter ever on your team down 3, you definitely want Buddy Hield taking the 3 under pressure there.
In Allen’s one minute, he launched a 3 pointer which is about 22’ longer than his normal shot selection and then quickly to the bench. Some of the playing time shenanigans today are funny.
Mikal Bridges played 6 seconds to keep his Ironman streak alive at 556 games.
Jarrett Allen played 1 minute so he will have played in all 82 games this season.
Probably some others. Not sure if anyone that mattered needed today's game to get to 65 or not.
It almost looked like they drew up the play that way (Curry as decoy/screener). If so, that’s not ideal.Curry was covered. I think it was going to be practically impossible to get curry free to shoot a three without getting fouled first. I guess it’s fair to argue that you might as well just give it the chance. That’s about the sound Hield’s shot made when it hit the backboard. It wasn't was this bad for Dallas. Of course it was. The question was who would be better between Dallas and the Lakers this season. In being so happy to call Chuck an idiot he failed to actually deal with what he said.
for some reason the national media handed the MVP to SGA like months ago.....I get it, he is the best player on one of the best teams....but Joker put up possibly one of the best seasons ever in NBA history in almost every stat that they keep...(not just PPG, Rebounds, assists.....talking steals, 3 point shooting, etc)...Joker fatigue and probably another factor I won't mention seem to be playing a bigger role this year then ever.....this will be an incredible injustice.....Jokic should get the MVP, right? Think of where the Nuggets would be without the Joker. Plus, he had his best season ever stats wise. He needs to get the MVP.
I don't think anyone should complain whoever wins MVP. Both SGA and Jokic had historic seasons. SGA actually had better VORP and VORP/48 numbers than Jokic did . . . and you just spelled out how well Jokic played. SGA finished with the 10th best WS/48 of all time (better than any single season Jokic has had).for some reason the national media handed the MVP to SGA like months ago.....I get it, he is the best player on one of the best teams....but Joker put up possibly one of the best seasons ever in NBA history in almost every stat that they keep...(not just PPG, Rebounds, assists.....talking steals, 3 point shooting, etc)...Joker fatigue and probably another factor I won't mention seem to be playing a bigger role this year then ever.....this will be an incredible injustice.....Jokic should get the MVP, right? Mat Ishbia bought the Phoenix Suns in Feb. 2023. He will be searching for his FOURTH Head Coach starting today.
He's not very good at this.
Check your stats, some of this is completely false. Jokic out-paced SGA in VORP by a good bit.I don't think anyone should complain whoever wins MVP. Both SGA and Jokic had historic seasons. The tiebreaker, so to speak, will be that the Thunder had one of the truly great regular seasons of all time. They finished 18 games ahead of Denver. Jokic is more valuable to the Nuggets, but Denver's season as a team was certainly unremarkable (other than firing their head coach with a week left to go in the regular season). Both of these guys had great seasons, and I don't think one clearly outshines the other.

Right after the AD/Luka trade some former owner (I don't remember who - Cuban, maybe?) said that all new owners should wait to make any major moves for the first year. It seems that nearly every year a new owner makes a big move it ultimately backfires. The list is long of owners that ****ed their organizations within a year - Suns, Nets (Prokhorov), Nets (Tsai), Dallas this year....
Keeping fingers crossed for the new Celtics owners to keep the streak alive.Mat Ishbia bought the Phoenix Suns in Feb. 2023. He will be searching for his FOURTH Head Coach starting today.

EPM is probably the best all in one metric. SGA leads Jokic +8.6 to +8.3Statistically, it really isn't close. Jokic outplayed SGA on an individual level. There are only 3 good basketball arguments for SGA, he led the league in scoring, his team had a better record and he is a better defender. But Jokic's overall offensive and rebounding advantage is far greater than any of SGA's defensive advantages. Jokic is basically an average defender this season while being one of the greatest offensive players ever and a top 3 rebounder this season.
not sure your stats totally accurate.....seems like there are tons of different sitesI don't think anyone should complain whoever wins MVP. Both SGA and Jokic had historic seasons. I love a good stat off
I love a good stat off
Can I interest you in some hot Plus/Minus talk?
TBH...I don't even know what half of those stats even mean.....Jokic is so good - like arguably the best offensive player ever good.
That's my lone takeaway from reading all those stats.
I have heard of that reddit before.I love a good stat off
Can I interest you in some hot Plus/Minus talk?
bolded is always the part of the argument that drives me nuts....people need to not say that because if it's part of your argument most people should stop listening...Jokic is the best player, but he's already won 3 and SGA's performance is so awesome and he's having so much team success that I'm totally OK with him getting the award. Being the best player has never been the sole consideration for MVP - I understand and am sympathetic to the argument that it should be, but it isn't.
and like 25 of his "missed three point attempts" were heaves as the clock is winding down....a shot many will refuse to take or wait until they hear the horn or see the red light before they let it go as not to negatively affect their shooting percentage....you take away those 25 attempts and his 3 point % jumps from 42% to 45%....which....uhhhhh.... would have led the league...Crazy that a guy averaging a triple double, 29.6 pts a game, and shoots 57% might not win MVP. Those stats are just silly.
Jokic has taken 20 end of game heaves, and has made 2 of them. He is currently 41.7% from three (138/331). If you take away the heaves he would be 136/311 or 43.7% which would put him in 5th place.and like 25 of his "missed three point attempts" were heaves as the clock is winding down....a shot many will refuse to take or wait until they hear the horn or see the red light before they let it go as not to negatively affect their shooting percentage....you take away those 25 attempts and his 3 point % jumps from 42% to 45%....which....uhhhhh.... would have led the league...Crazy that a guy averaging a triple double, 29.6 pts a game, and shoots 57% might not win MVP. maybe there are different definitions of heaves....Jokic has taken 20 end of game heaves, and has made 2 of them. He is currently 41.7% from three (138/331). I meant to say end of quarter. Even if it was 28 that makes him 136/303 which still wouldn't lead the league.
